It's a 4x4 or 5x5 free-range so really good for smashing boss units. 3 turns is pretty limiting but you can do it multiple times per round

If the enemy kills your giant and you still have Rage, you can giant another unit

So thats nice

Revenge got broke in 2. Rage and Hell Mode

Rage builds on attacks and hits, and special story characters get Hell Mode, a 1 off special hit

There's a LOT of returning units. 55 in total. Only 4 new ones which is...disapointing

Because the devs killed their support for it, cheaters run rampant, and from what I hear from you, cheaters seem to run rampant in mw2 as well. They introduced a custom anti-cheat to ban cheaters essentially on sight, yet has done none of that. Now, you say vast majority, but the all time peak was 400k, which is safe to assume that the game was extremely popular at one point. I'd say that the game has declined in players in only just a year. I'm willing to bet most of the people who quit, quit because of the cheaters on DMZ and Warzone. 65k for a CoD game, regardless of platform, is an extremely low player count.

Now if we focus on just the BR aspect of CoD, and compare it to something like, idk Apex. Came out 3 years ago, and has an incredibly stable playerbase on just PC alone. Devs pushing out these CoD titles (regardless of the developer) is for greed, and only that. MW3 perfectly reflects that. But who knows, I'm probably just delusional because I don't support this kind of scheme.
