@cold junco the issue here is that graphics are easy to make. Decals and stuff on the screen are really just transparent png vector images. This can improve and be good or bad, I'm a fan of flashy comic-book style pop out accentuating.

So that means gameplay. Well a car game is pretty fleshed out by now. There's no major innovations for nfs to make here without making some kind of gimmick like a jumping car or submarine cars or something truly wild. Not much left in this area.

So then maybe diverse cars? Also no. The car list is pretty standard now with a carousel of themed cars. You're still seeing the same camaro and challenger and porsches with the occasional one off polestar or something. But the lack of Toyotas, for example and some other names is really starting to show this far into the franchise. This would need a large expansion to probably get it compared harder to Forza. I dont see that as a bad thing.

Radio music is all liscenced and can be good or bad but also changed up. Like theirncar list, NFS usually has a VERY short list (like 15 or 20) of music and its starting to show. This has room to improve.

Controls are all driver assisted and super sticky wheels. That's nfs arcade style. No changes to be made without losing that aspect.

The game features the idea of outrunning police rather than conflicting with them. I disagree with how easy it is to still wreck in the endgame and how hard it is to actually play the game super aggressive vs the cops. I think carbon and 2015MW had it right. But that's opinion based.

So what's left? Setting? Ok sure. Heat had the 80s Outrun thing going for it, and did pretty well. But past that you can't make a Modern America setting, that's just shitty gta. You cant do Europe, that's just shitty Forza horizon 3.

The unfortunate reality is that there's only so much you can do with a franchise because theyre stuck being compared to Forza Horizon when open world, or Motorsport games when closed circuit. There's not much left to do, mechanically, so the STORY has to sell a nfs game. And if the story is weak then the game just won't sell
