Best car would depend on a number of things, Vigalante is good for heists and the data leak stuff from Dr Dre. Kuruma (armoured) is a good start for newer players since it's a fast car to start off with.
If you need any other vehicle, I'd say pick up a raiju and oppressor mk2 after getting either a hanger or a nightclub and a terrorbite, however I'd recommend getting a buzzard attack heli for starting out.
Races I'd say go for a fast car in any category on gtabase with a quick lap mode. Also Vigilante can't be in normal races, has to be in special races

Just use the Sultan Classic. It's a little faster and more nimble than the Calico, although It's prone to snap oversteer.

The Calico suffers from understeer due to a front-bias AWD layout, so you wanna let off the gas before you even enter the corner, until you're sure to exit it.
