As you probably know,the Virtue's acceleration is unmatched by anything else on PC,but it's top speed isn't very high compared to the RSX.
It can be equipped with armor plating and a lockon jammer,which could be useful for deterring griefers and defending yourself against enemies,but you can't use explosives in the car if you install the platings.
I say:Use both.Survey the situation and decide what you want or need at any given time.

There are cars with superior top speeds.
I'm a lil tired,so I can't think of much,but the Pariah,Itali GTO,Torero XO and Emerus are all better when it comes to strictly top speed.
Of course,you can also be cheap and use a car with rocket boosts.

For tanking bullets from npc I'd say armored kuruma, from players it's best to just use something that they can't even see u like remote control cars or tanks. For explosives I'd say nightshark for personal vehicle and moc for extreme explosive resistance. Imani tech vehicles are also able to avoid being locked onto if u're trying to escape missiles
