Our family has always used volkswagens and volvo's (and subaru's for vacation). I can recommend the volvo s60/90 (preferably the station wagons though) from personal experience. They're offered as a mild hybrid or full plug-in hybrid, but honestly the polestar 2 is really nice too, however, it's fully electric and a cross-over. Other than that the renault talisman, peugeot 508 and maybe the vw arteon? Not too sure about the price range on that vw but it looks bloody sexy
