i think its 80s
The one you guys have
ours is probably 80s i dont have much info since he just got it
Ah ok, I can probably help finding some of the stuff for you guys online
And I think your dad will teach you the difference between surface rust and full on rust so you can tell me what needs replacing... I go through places on a daily for car parts so I can keep an eye out for you
I'm almost at the point of giving up on my 1958 F100 as it has too much rust π
thatd be awesome ill keep in touch with updates
damn thats a lot of rust
It's been sitting out in Florida for 40 years and hasn't been moved
is there even a way to fix that i feel like u would need to replace so much o fit
It's my late grandfather's truck
Yes, there is but the whole bed is rusted through
dang
have u done anything to it or do u think youll just let it be
its a beautiful truck tho i rlly hope u can save it
I hope so too
I have another project car that's at my friend's house but it's going to be very hard to work on
Especially since the type of vehicle it is...
what is it
His father is a firefighter and he bought it like 30 years ago and just never touched it so I bought it off him for $1,000
do u wanna restore it or turn it into smtn else
Restore
thats good are u gonna kit it out w original tools or just do the truck and be done
Tools and all, want it looking like what it did in 1960
nice im glad its getting the treatment it deserves
Yeah but the only issue is lack of parts, they're in super short supply

Sorry for the link spam
I know it sounds like a stupid question but doesn't anyone ever feel like sleeping in their car on a rainy night? The sound of the rain hitting the roof is so damn peaceful to me...
Alternative is a tin roof/corrugated roof shelter. More comfortable, same effect
Not too hard to build either
Can just get a ready made shed kit, stick it in the back yard with a bed and some amenities
Yeah but I still prefer the car as I have a panoramic moon roof and I watch the sky while it falls
Can always put in a skylight
I haven't slept like that buy I've slept in swags a few times out bush while it's raining, it's nice
All you gotta do is find an elevated platform to put the swag on, or bring/build a frame so you don't get wet
Another thing I wanted to do, it's dumb but seems like it'll be fun is to buy a old school bus and my old friends from highschool and I would have a week long road trip
This is what a swag is btw @steel kindle
Oh, I know what they are lmao
Just making sure. They're not common outside of Australia XD
Yea
Single person, sometimes double. Easy to carry, easy to pack, easy to set up
Good alternative to having to dig a foxhole
Yep and a lot of fun to be in, only issue is if you're claustrophobic π
Yeah but I mean you wouldn't buy one if you're claustrophobic xD
Exactly
One thing I want to get, not sure if they sell them to Australia... A changli
Either, it's a micro EV 4wd golf cart/car?
Kei car basically
Kei car (or keijidΕsha, kanji: θ»½θͺεθ», "light automobile", pronounced [keΛdΚidoΛΙa]), known variously outside Japan as Japanese city car or Japanese microcar, is the Japanese vehicle category for the smallest highway-legal passenger cars with restricted dimensions and engine capacity. Similar Japanese categories exist for microvans, and kei trucks...
Much smaller
Kei cars get very small lol
It's smaller than a golf cart
And kei cars are bigger than a golf cart, not by much tho
Thing is it's not considered a car
It's actually considered a golf cart, they only go up to 26-30mph
hm
At that point you'd be better off just buying an ATV tbh
Like a gator
Not gator specifically because fuck John Deere, but that kind of vehicle
6x4 ones especially are very nice. I've driven them
Very fun, very easy to drive on and off road
Yeah but for A/C, heating, Bluetooth speakers, and seats 6 people for 1,500 usd
They're a lot more than 1500usd lol
Changli starts at 10k usd
If you're ripped off, 3,000usd
Oh, I watched a review saying how they're only 3,000
Nope
I double checked,
Pick-up starts at 10k. Non Pick-up 6,500
The same people who crammed a 5.0 in it π
Not a big issue as it uses a washing machine motor
Tesla swap it π
Good luck finding replacement OEM batteries that don't catch on fire after ignition
Either way I have my own "changli", it's called a Ford Festiva π
I'd been hunting for an OEM charger for one of my laptops as a spare, because I don't trust non OEM when it comes to electrical devices/systems. Was a pain to find an OEM one
Man I'd unironically buy a Ford Focus (specifically RS) but they don't make them anymore
The Focus is so much fun to drive
I own one, want to eventually make it a SVT Focus (ST170 for the Europeans here)
But I'm talking about the Kia Pride shitbox
Track or rally build
Not sure, the Ford Festiva is my main project
Personally I prefer track, but that's just me
I'm doing a track build for the Festiva, I'm going to put in a turbo 3.5 eco in it
Nice ay
If I ever do get my hands on a focus in future, I might rip the guts out and HCE (Hydrogen combustion engine) hybrid swap
I'd say "fuck you" to Ford and coyote swap it and put SVT badges on it
Yes
Ultimate sleeper focus
Here
Lmao nice
700WHP
I'll see if I got a pic of it with it's slicks on
Nope, sadly I don't
@mint plank here's vids tho
Cool as hell ngl
Yeah
Best dodge is:
Swag as hell
2 step it
Wym?
What are y'alls attainable dream cars that you think (or hope) you'll own within a few years? I'm curious
Ok, I'm listening. (Warning, loud.)
GR86
thats a pretty solid choice, I wanted to buy a 1st gen GT86 after I sold my NC2 miata, but prices have skyrocketed since in Europe
i had a first gen facelift 86 for a year till it got wrecked and i have a GR86 on pre order currently
My only issue with the car is the (in)famous boxer engine, I keep seeing cars with less than 100k km on the clock with blown engines (even the recalled cars and 2014+ models)
i've seen a few with engines being replaced in the 150k km + but i bought mine at 46k km and had no issues with it
I guess i'll try to get a different car in the future, thinking about a base 996 with a stick
But im terrified of the maintenance/repair costs
Or if the prices drop enough, a ND2 RF miata
i was considering an ND Miata but for the price i could get a better equipped BRZ
I would be buying a used one, and they are much cheaper here than the Toyobaru twins
Legnum VR4
Underrated gem, thats for sure

155DTM
Super GT/GT500 has spawned probably some of the wackiest and coolest turbo engines of the modern era
And European GTs can't even compare to GT300 cars anymore
Kinda sad
DTM was one of the best racing leagues when they had Group Racing.
Group N was also quite an eye catcher due to the fact a faster E30 was getting beat out by a measly Hatchback and so on
80's - 90's motorsport aesthetic is unmatched
Unsafe motorsport is the best motorsport
Ah yes i sure do love getting killed off in a race by a basilar skull fracture due to a lack of basic safety
Altough, i must say, it did make racing more exciting due to a fear of the consequences that would ensue by crashing and so on
Y'all remember the time that Marshall got sliced in half in an f1 race in the 70s?
South Africa, 1977
Yeah
Whoohooo
I love when people get shredded to pieces due to a lack of basic safety measures

I will never like that grille
Looks like a fleslight with a double hdmi port
Cool idea, it makes a 15-20 year old car complete for this day and age
I can check waze for those shitty speed cameras with this
Holy shit you have a 997?
Not sure that's what he meant by that
Old best motoring VHS import
Jesus
it went from "Stop" to "Fucking stop"
The fact that there isnt one in the down part is triggering me
this is used to stop the car and time
price? what's been done to the car? any rust? engine? transmission?
didn't he already review one
~3k, custom rims, hydraulic suspension and rebuilt engine
it has hydraulics
that seems like a decent price, the wheels are terrible though
yea it sounds fair, although Im going to visit the car tomorrow, nothings certain about me buying it yet
agree about the rims though, i may remove the chrome header
what engine is it, 1.6?
Check under the arches and the suspension bushings
its 1.8, and the guy claims its been built from scratch
yea for sure, im taking it to an expert before the deal
So is it gonna be a daily or a weekend car or
something in the middle ig
The hydraulics are gonna make or break the driving feel
The ride will either be horrible or alright
If the hydraulics they used are good, I wouldn't worry much
But hydraulic suspension can give a pretty terrible ride
Not to shit in your cornflakes or anything but
thanks for the heads up, I think a test drive will reveal the true face of that beauty
dont have experience with hydraulics and shit
Hydraulic suspension is usually adjustable though so there's that
Air suspension is a good substitute for Hydraulics, same functionality with better ride quality
But it's almost always more expensive
As always though, I recommend doing your own research
adjustable too?
Yes
so there should be a compressor unit with it?
bro is rocking that $20 wish.com katana shift knob π
I believe so, yes
does the hydraulics have such a thing too?
I would imagine
Hmm
Seems my information isn't entirely accurate
Apparently air suspension is typically cheaper than Hydraulics
Oops
oh
but air seems to be softer than liquid

Yes
Goofy
Kinda looks painted
Look at the B pillar
Where the yellow meets the black, top left of the pic
Wouldn't surprise me if it's a sticker or vinyl though
the car has the same age as me
thats promising, we're both boomers
i hope the eagle is sticker atleast
yea i might do that, that painting kinda doesnt match the interior vibe, i may completely tweak that if its gonna be mine tomorrow
manned or unmanned?
Fastest is either the XB-70 or the SR-71 from the 1960s-70s
This is the XB-70 Valkyrie, reached mach 3 (2,056 mph or 3308.8 kmh)
SR-71 which went 2,200mph (3,540.5 kmh )
We talking about conventional vehicles most likely
Not space shuttles π
that was never specified
True but we all know how nuts space shuttles are π
Also the ones I sent were used for stuff that was earth related like the SR-71 was a military surveillance aircraft and had a interceptor varient (scrapped by the CIA) and the XB-70 was a prototype for the B-70 nuclear-armed, deep-penetration supersonic strategic bomber (was cancelled because the mid-air collision and being extremely expensive)
@jagged sentinel I'm too tired to look it up to fact check, am I correct or am I forgetting something?
@steel kindle you're missing one
X-15
The North American X-15 is a hypersonic rocket-powered aircraft. It was operated by the United States Air Force and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration as part of the X-plane series of experimental aircraft. The X-15 set speed and altitude records in the 1960s, reaching the edge of outer space and returning with valuable data used ...
And that's for manned vehicles
Yeah but meant for stuff that wasn't for just learning
A vehicle is a vehicle
If we're including unmanned vehicles, then shit goes completely off the rails
The NASA X-43 was an experimental unmanned hypersonic aircraft with multiple planned scale variations meant to test various aspects of hypersonic flight. It was part of the X-plane series and specifically of NASA's Hyper-X program. It set several airspeed records for jet aircraft. The X-43 is the fastest jet-powered aircraft on record at approxi...
Also you know the 1955 Curtis Wright flying car?
We no talk about that, Mach 10 is fucking nuts
Mach 9.6, shits crazyπ
I can't think of a practical application for going anywhere near that speedπ
9.6-10... fucking bonkers...
Mitsubishi A6M tries stall climbing to reach it
Nah but I laughed during the new top gun movie and how the SR-71 "reached" Mach 10 like a P-51 reaches 400mph
And how it made a turn while going Mach 10 still over the U.S and exploded... Yet he survived...
Making a turn at mach 10 will disintegrate your aircraft and an explosion would usually kill you no matter what speed but going mach 10 you're fucked...
Who was that one US Air Force pilot that bailed out of a SR-71 when the Russians shot it down and the force broke all of his bones?
NGL, it was
Strangely that movie is more realistic than most other military movies
Say what you want about Tom Cruise but he's exactly the kind of crazy that makes for a good practically-shot movie
Oh god yeah
Did they say the "Russian" planes were CGI or not?
I doubt they actually got their hands on SU-57s lol
Considering they never even called them that in the movie
Nah, they didn't
Not even the plane's NATO name
They only named the American ones
Yeah
Still a good movie
Absolutely
Also I remember the bonkers russian movie
They used the name MiG in the original top gun
That was about America that they used a MI-24D in a U.S Coast Guard paint scheme
Even though the "MiG" in the original top gun:
A. Isn't real
B. Was actually an F5 with Russian markings
The MiG 28 isn't a real plane
Yep
I bet you if you Google Mig 28, it'll pull up Top Gun fandom π
I know the F14 is iconic and all
But why wasn't the F18 used
I mean it was brand spanking new as far as fighter jets go
Man wtfπ
Yeah but doubt the government would allow it then
Also was sold recently
wait a minute, something ain't right!
Old Russian film about America
Ya think?
GTA V Savage be like...
Rockstar probably saw this and said "well fuck, U.S used MI-24Ds too so make it American in game"
We played with it until we learned all we could about it
Loaded with Death (Zaryazhennye smertyu) is the movie btw, it's actually pretty good
Yeah, it's also GTA levels of shit we did then... Literally sneaked in and stole the fucking helicopter
With a fucking CH-47 π
(Operation Mount Hope III)
Easy check: no migs have even number designations
Always odd
Also sad how everyone hates the M3 Lee even though it was great at it's job
I never thought about it like that tbh and I just realized it...
Yep, that beast... But the pic I sent was when the U.S stole a Russian helicopter from their base π
Yup I know the one
War has some of the wackiest shit...
Like the B-25h that had the Sherman cannon in the nose
XA-38
π₯°
The Beechcraft XA-38 "Grizzly" was a World War II-era ground attack aircraft, developed by Beechcraft, but never put into production. The Grizzly was to have been fitted with a forward-firing 75 mm cannon to penetrate heavily armored targets.

I know the grizzly, I call it the plane that took too much Viagra π
Lul
Also the YB-40 that was the WWII AC-130 but for planes
Actually had a proper use
Since most fighters couldn't escort bombers
At the time there wasn't enough long range fighters
AC-47 puff the magic dragon π₯°
The Douglas AC-47 Spooky (also nicknamed "Puff, the Magic Dragon") was the first in a series of fixed-wing gunships developed by the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. It was designed to provide more firepower than light and medium ground-attack aircraft in certain situations when ground forces called for close air support.
Most underrated plane
Wasn't there a prototype version of it that had an autocannon instead of the regular machine gun?
They either had 3 7.62 miniguns or 10 .30 cal mgs
I know the active service one
Talking about prototype, one that never saw action
As far as I can see, nope, doesn't exist
Like the V-22 that had the AV-22 (had a 20mm Vulkan on the bottom)
Highest it went was foreign conversions with .50 cals
So must be another plane
And a Thai version with a 20mm Cannon. Not US
Ok
One thing that has me curious is how the SR-71 interceptor would fire it's missiles or the XB-70 release it's bombs going past Mach 2
Missiles aren't immediately fast as it takes a second for them to fire up
YF-12 (SR-71/A-12 Fighter) would have slowed down and used drop and ignite. Missiles won't ignite on the rail, they'll be dropped first
And bombs can reliably dropped at pretty high speeds, and even if not, slowing down is still an option
Le funny cold launch
I mean, yes but no
Cold launch is more of a VLS/Silo term
Heard it applied to aircraft
ignore the fact that's hot launch
Afaik only the Chinese use cold launch VLS
Oh
Russia uses some too
At least for ships
Most ICBMs and SLBMs are cold launch
They'd have to slow down quite a lot, I'm curious how the wind pressure wouldn't rip it apart once the bomb bay opened and well when it slows down, it's a good sized target and has to take a while to slow down
B-58 hustler could do reliable high Mach drops
Aardvark too (f-111)
Not saying it's impossible, I'm saying I don't know how π
How when it opens it doesn't rip itself to shreds
Yeah but how about bomb bay aircrafts
F-111 had a bomb bay too, but that was more for ground hugging
Inwards opening. Not outwards
Lol
Or retracting
Yeah I know that
Not all bomb bays open outwards like ww2
And even then, outward opening bomb bays are rated for pretty extreme forces
I figured inward opening and opens towards the cockpit so wind uses the bay slopage but the pressure itself seems like it'll destroy it, like let's say you open a car door going 30mph, it's not that easy but 1000x harder would damage the bay door even internally
It works lol.
Now it does, it's been 60 years but curious by 1960s standards, they didn't know as much as we do now... Remember that one plan where they wanted to use nuclear weapons to get rid of hurricanes?
No, I'm talking in 1950s and '60s
And besides. They had bomb bays opening outwards in ww2. Bomb bays aren't a big surface. They're following the direction of the plane, so the wind isn't fighting against it
Aerodynamic drag difference is minimal
They did it all the way back in the 40s
The only real issue with supersonic is transonic
For a Mach 3 plane
0.95-.99 is the major issue
Pressure?
Anything above mach 2.5 heat is the bigger issue. Not wind
I know breaking speed of sound but what made it more difficult over the other parts?
.95-.99 is where you see the white 'cones' and its where the most airframes stress is
Beyond that it's clear
Well yeah, the friction burns through it, acts just like when a meteoroid is in the atmosphere and burns up
Ah ok, the stress
@steel kindle https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_X-51_Waverider
The Boeing X-51 Waverider is an unmanned research scramjet experimental aircraft for hypersonic flight at Mach 5 (3,300 mph; 5,300 km/h) and an altitude of 70,000 feet (21,000 m). The aircraft was designated X-51 in 2005. It completed its first powered hypersonic flight on 26 May 2010. After two unsuccessful test flights, the X-51 completed a f...
Also kinda curious what the story behind the Model 2500 GEM was
The Curtiss-Wright
@mint plank do you know much about it?
never heard of it

Oof
It's like GTA+, they'll give you a key for the steering column to "unlock" the maneuverability

How about the VZ-9 Avrocar?
Nice UFO
The U.S made these but scrapped em sadly

But there was also a Urus and 2 taycans yesterday

XJ220 is a legendary car Jaguar built
there's just something about the 80s turbo lag that I like
it's raw and scary, once they spool up the radio falls out
Especially when said turbo is as big as a Hyundai Veloster
For sure, but I prefer the XJR-15
Nissan R90 Calsonic livery would be better
looks solid, any paperwork from Japan?
like what grade it was, accidents etc
It's a US title so as far as they say it's a clean title
No crash
I assume it was imported recently, no?
Yes
No crash damages
Just some minor cracks and dings and rust
The driver side headlight has a water issue
Common stuff from a 90s nissan
pretty much, just be careful about rust and poorly repaired rust/dents
It had a new batter
And a new clutch
New spark plugs, repaired fuel line, new filter
Not sure if it was just the RB26 problem or if it plagues the whole RB family, but some people had problems with cylinder 6 and oil starvation
New timing belt at roughly 68k miles
Nah that's an RB25 issue too
Is it a private seller or an importer?
Private
hmm, I wonder why he decided to sell so quickly
oh, thats not too bad
So there's like a 70% chance the car was abused and used as a drift car
that sounds good, but i meant in the states
since he's the 2nd owner already and the car has a welded diff
you usually weld diffs on beater/drift cars
So it must've been
I'm just looking for a car to drive rn
Something I can modify
Until I get something else
so a daily?
Yea basically
But I don't want a car that's just for driving day to day I want something with parts for it
I was looking at chargers
2006-11 chargers
Those are hella cheap
If you're prepared to drop another 5-10k for maintenance, possible fixes etc, i'd say go for it
but you'll most likely hate a welded diff for daily driving
and its like 1k to get an open diff
a bit more actually
Yes that's what I was worried about
all older jap cars are stupid expensive now
I remember GTSTs being 5k cars
I'd say get a clapped out e46/39, even that will be less expensive to maintain
Hell naw
or an IS300, but i assume the 2JZ tax made it cost double lol
I like bmws
Nah those are still cheap
just don't get the 335i, those can (and will) get stupid expensive
just be prepared to spend some money on maintenance and try to find a well kept one
those are actually pretty nice
I don't like convertibles for
and since they are hardtops, you can use them all year
Nah I'm seeing soft tops
oh, so an e46?
e46 is ragtop, e92(93) is a power operated hardtop
be prepared to pay premium for coupes and convertibles, sedans are usually a lot cheaper
How many miles is an B20 good for
N20*
My curiosity leaked over to the 428i
I don't think I want one but that would be nice in the future
Is that the F30 engine or E90 LCI?
no idea tbh, don't know much about the newer bimmers
but just a quick google search told me the early models were plagued with timing chain issues
Personally I wouldn't pay that much for an e46, because from my European perspective, its an old bimmer, nothing special
But i know they are way more expensive in the US
is it a manual atleast?
Nah
yeah fuck that lol
We do a walk around and test drive (@ 7 minute) of a nasty nascar-powered street machine. This is a 27k mile original Boss 429, 4 speed, 391 gear, Ford Mustang Fastback. This was Fordβs attempt to win the NASCAR championship in the 60βs. #musclecar #mustang #boss429 #kaase

@delicate grotto gonna have some fun tomorrow in class
So theyre putting a nascar stock car into le mans???
Hot take: this is the best looking Mustang gen
Yes
Following the same rules as the other cars; starting from it's earned grid spot and everything
Mumstang :)
@jagged sentinel ready for Nascar to go hybrid?

For the Le Mans race theyβre mandated to use a hybrid drivetrain
Wonder if they're going to do what they did the first time

You can't see it in the pic but It's actually burning in the ditch next to the road
every rally driver's dream is to have a viking funeral
That dude doesn't miss, all of his VQ and BMW stuff is always spot-on
I live in central Europe and the balkan bmw stereotypes are real lol
Don't forget to order plenty M badges!
I thought about buying a clapped out 318i/320d as a joke, but bimmer boys are making the prices climb, even for the most shitty examples
2k if you don't want to watch the road under you through the rusted floor, but they usually have 15 other issues
And thats for a sedan/wagon, coupes are double the money
Until it comes back to bite you on the backside ofc
I don't even like bimmers, just wanted to get one for shit and giggles while they were still under 1k
Getting a cheap diesel 1.3/2.0L is a decent call
Getting a cheap performance model is a no-go
even a shitty 320d can eat over 1k in repairs
I had my 130i for 8 years and when it worked it was brilliant but when something went wrong it went catastrophically wrong
and at the end of the day you still have a clapped out ghetto 4banger bimmer thats older than you
True lol
130i? I assume you're from Germany?
I thought about buying one like a year ago, but I can't get past the interior
I originally bought the car in the UK while I was studying but prior to that it had lived in FΓΌssen for 7 years
I then imported it over here when I moved back home
Very plasticky
The N52 is a great engine though
I know the feeling
Ong
I feel like It's the safe option, If you want to go into debt, the N54 is your friend
I see more American cars than all foreign cars combined
Yep, provided that you live in a country where cars over 2.0L of displacement aren't heavily taxed

Here you only pay more for insurance
But I know damn well I'll have to move abroad to be able to afford some of my dream cars lol
Lol, makes sense
Here you pay more on road tax because of an included congestion charge
Not countries exclusively powered by fart cans I imagine
Then again anything can sound like a fart can if the exhaust system is bad enough
True that
996.1 Carrera (base) - It's the only 911 I might be able to afford in my life
FC Turbo II RX7
Toyota Celica GT-Four ST205
Opel Speedster (2nd gen Elise with a GM engine)
Even in countries that don't have displacement tax, they still aren't as happy-go-lucky about putting big engines as the US is
yes, cheapest base models with a manual are around 25k
but you have to account for maintenance and repairs, so another 5-10k
Or I guess just big cars in general
Very true
I was lucky enough to already own one of my attainable dream cars, but I couldn't afford the rest of them while working here
It's funny when some people are surprised when I inform them that the ford ranger is considered a midsize truck in the US
And that "full-size" is not, in fact, the biggest size of truck available
Even for what could be considered a passenger vehicle
Yes
And I live in the suburbs of Detroit
So trucks and muscle cars gallore
The 1GZ-FE was the biggest engine found in any car here 30 years ago, and I wouldn't be surprised if it still is
Most people in my country can't afford a 6cyl, let along a V8
Same tbh
(I am one of them)

Nah I'm going abroad lol
I know that "grass is always greener on the other side", but the economy here is tanking fast
And I always wanted to move to an english speaking country
Most likely Canada
I haven't decided yet, but preferably somewhere with cheap rent and enough job opportunities
I'm not really about the city life and If I can get around in a car, I'm happy
I'm not naive enough to think I'll be making big bucks right after I land there, but I'm positive I would be doing better over time than if I decided to stay here
business HS, dropped out of college (Yes I know I'm dumb for that), got some experience doing office jobs, currently trying to get a Cambridge certificate
So preferably some basic office job for a while, and then I'll see what opportunity I'll get
I'm still in college
Alternative Fuels and Hybrids and Electric Vehicles
Considering adding business management to that as well
The school I go to is... Unique
There are business majors here too but most of the people here attend for the car stuff
I'm not expecting miracles, If it doesn't work out for me, I can always try a different area or even a different country
It's technically a university but as far as topics go it's fair to put it in the trade school type
That sounds so much better than what I did
I did Cybersecurity because there are a lot of employment opportunities back home and when it comes to University I did a HND which was 2 years of work placement
A HND is equivalent to an American associates degree I think
Fr
There are so many jobs here in the Cybersecurity field but the pay is so poor
I live in Kanagawa
Atsugi
The unemployment rate here is extremely low but jobs don't pay well at all, I regret not taking a work placement abroad so I could potentially get a job in America or the UK
Yeah, I think the rates are about 3x that of those here
Β₯2,500,000 for a first year placement is good money but it's nothing compared to $50,000 in the US and Β£45,000 in the UK per annum

Just over a year, 14 months now
2,5 mil yen is like $20k, right?
Yes
I wish I was making $20k here lmfao
Tax and rent brings it down to about $17,000 but you do get hourly pay
wait, you pay under $3k a year for rent???
Yes, Atsugi is a major corporate city so rates here are surprisingly low
Not corporate as in the sense that it's home to investors
Thanks for making me hate this shithole country even more lol
I pay $350 for a studio apartment in the middle of nowhere
idk 'murican metrics
18 sq meters
Mind you the average monthly wage before tax here is roughly $1200
bad spawn I guess, thats why I want to move abroad asap
Ong
the worst part about it is most of my peers don't think its a problem, they think working the same underpaid 9-5 for their whole life and barely affording to pay bills is fine
As long as they can afford a 24 month payment plan for an Iphone and ciggies, they dont care
Yep
Always those individuals that are living in a delusion, I've had friends here who have taken sick days to go to Daikoku PA as if their work quotas weren't already bad enough
That work is then given to some poor soul who probably has enough on their plate as is
Suppose we all do now and then
A one bedroom where I live can be $3000 a month
I'm never moving out π
Having no aspiration sounds like the living dead to me
everyone lives life differently
same goes for enjoyment

Anything but German cars are π©
Ford: Am I a joke to you?
I mean
Interior wise
German cars are defo the top
Jaguar and RR have better interiors than BMW, Merc and Audi though.
Porsche has better interior than these, but McLaren has better interior than Porsche.
Although McLaren is already on supercar/hypercar level
I've never heard anyone praise McLaren for their quality, quite the opposite
Wouldn't this be better than Porsche's interior? At least better than Porsche 911 GT3 RS?

GTA Online ahh interior
The gt3 rs is a track-focused car
Radio is optional kind of thing
A lada has a better interior than that
Which is fine, since the gt3 rs is meant forr the race track, and cities and highways

Hmmmm
Someone said that in some European countries, average joes and even poor people are able to buy BMW, certain BMW cars at least, is it true?
If we're talking brand new bmws then western europe, but if you want to see tons of e90 and older models, its definitely eastern europe
Wait, in Western Europe, poor people and average joes are able to buy a brand new BMW?
Not poor people, but middle class people can, not an m5 ofc
Naah not poor, they are the middle class people who can actually,
In Germany Mercedes and Bmw's cost about as much as a Camry
They are seen as everyday cars there
It is chevy suburban motorweek time
Middle class can afford new models
3-5 series and such
Lower class often buys older gens
I wonder if buying repossessed vehicles would be a good idea. The problem is here, banks sell those vehicles in "as is" conditions, no test drives are allowed.
The most the banks will allow us to do besides having the repossessed car checked by a trusted mechanic is starting the engine, that's it.
Babe wake up, it's Lamborghini's 15th limited production aventador released this month

Buying a repossessed vehicle can be a good idea if you are willing to take the risk. You will likely be able to get a vehicle at a discounted price, but there is always the chance that it may have hidden issues that you wonβt be aware of until after you have purchased it. It is important to have a trusted mechanic check the vehicle and to get a vehicle history report to ensure you know as much as possible about the car before you purchase it. Additionally, make sure you understand the terms of any warranty that may be included with the vehicle.
The only pro I can think of buying a used car from someone who openly declares its defects and maintenance history is you're aware of the car's status. Buying a repossessed car seems to be like buying an expensive lootbox, can be a good or bad surprise which is why I'm wary of buying one even when I can bring a trusted mechanic.

How the fuck did I never notice this...
Common trait of 80s-90s supercars
Manufacturers often spent so much developing the things that they could barely afford to put them into production, resorted to borrowing parts from other manufacturers in order to cut costs
Last gen Diablo uses 300Z headlights, Murcielago uses turn signal lights from a Ford Focus
And all Lambos made under the VW group, share tons of parts with .... VW group cars
Hey... that should mean the parts in question are relatively cheap to replace then
I'm thinking if Mazda should put a smaller turbocharged engine for the MX-5, but if I'm not mistaken, Mazda once said that they don't believe in downsizing their engines.
It would only ruin the formula of the car and it would drive up the prices significantly
I mean, they did it with the NB, although they just slapped a turbo on the regular 1.8
But the car was pretty expensive
Just brought a old ass 350z that needs a engine swap should i make it electric?
Nah
Just swap in another VQ
You can pick one up for under 3k if you're lucky
Electric conversions are more expensive (if you don't plan on doing them yourself with a kit which is almost equally as expensive as getting them done by a specialist)
Reminds me of Mazda 6. Instead of downsizing their 2.5L NA petrol engine, they just slapped it with a turbocharger without downsizing it which gave it an above par power output for a sedan like that.
I dunno how expensive they are, but the VQ35HR from the last gen 350z or the VQ37VHR from the 370z are far more durable than the original pre-face 350z engine

We all know toyota collab;'d fort he ae86
But not his abomination
Greatness. Sadness. History.
Toyota.
Almost 100 years there... no wonder their cars are durable
Ehhh... wouldn't say the cars are durable tbh
Engines, yeah...
But almost everyone I know has issues with their Toyota
(Edit: everyone I know that drives a Toyota)
What issues?
We have Toyota vans and we had a car, they're reliable
One of our Toyota vans is 19 years old, still good and running
Someday, Toyota might even become more reliable than Ford and Chevrolet as well as Audi...
Except for a few gas engines, early autotragic transmissions and diesel engines (infamous D4D engines), I'd say they're pretty durable
Don't forget the wiring that will caput in the dash and the steering column issues
Heh, doubt that, my '58 F100 that survived over 9 hurricanes still runs after my whole family line abused it
Ford builds the most reliable cars after all, second being Chevy and Audi. π
That hunk of junk still runs, transmission is fucked but it's been sitting for over 20 years and it's rusted to hell so are you really surprised?
The D4D engines stalled after many mileages, I can't exactly recall why, maybe bad fuel pumps? Bad fuel filters?
But at least here in Ph, they seem to have rectified the problem
I like Toyota (I know, I'm the average Hilux enjoyer) but they're nowhere near as reliable as everyone makes them out to be, engines are great, don't get me wrong but they're not as reliable as other brands
The problem with Toyota here in Ph is their cars seem to have fewer features than competitors while being expensive, although they're stepping up to the game with the facelifts of Hilux and Fortuner, they're adding features to even the odds with their competitors
I've never cared for features... hell I even gutted the Ford Focus...
Same, all I want is the basic stuff, abs and electric windows (atleast in the front), dont really care for all the new fancy tech
Honestly i dislike the new tech they force on every car, like digital dashes and giant ipads glued to the dash, its distasteful to say the least
If they're not going to add the new fancy techs, at least they should lower the price
Unless the car really is good
Customer demand is probably one reason why they force these techs on every car
Don't forget Takata Airbags
Older Toyotas are reliable
The newer ones are still yet to prove themselves because they really haven't had a long-term life yet
I'd be lying if I I said I thought this wasn't happening
It just makes too much sense for a company like them
Reliable is what I meant
Yea rolls royce was never about sound and performance, they are the opposite so making it an ev is actually a big win
With the 600 pounds of sound deadening on top of no engine imagine how quiet the new ones will be
Bentley is more performance-inclined, but not by much
Bentley is similar to Bugatti where they are oppulent but also want to be raw and stick to their racing heritage
Rolls Royce is the odd one out because they were always about building the best horseless carriages
Or reliable
Youβre saying Toyotas arenβt reliable or am I getting this wrong
Some older, the older Hilux had good reliability and the older Corollas and Civics did but the Supras and Crown Royal... I'm hearing from friends how bad they are to own and how they had to spend a bit of money to keep them working perfect
Besides engine, they're average
Supra isn't that bad
Unless you have a 3.0 GT with the 7M
Gasket go boom boom
Not THAT bad, it's meh
It's on par with the Lesabre with reliability
And those are quite decent cars
Easily live to 300k miles
(And are fleet cars)
I only ever had experience with a Corolla (and Camry for a few years) and they ran pretty good.
My grandpa has a 2001 model Camry that still runs fine (although he did not take good cae of it and got into a slight accident)
Yeah the Camry is decent, not amazing but good
The S150/S151 crown/majestas aren't that reliable but they're just rebadged cars from within the Lexus LS' series
And they didn't sell all that well
Getting a majesta over an LS400 is stupid anyway
Hell I know this guy that came to the shop not long ago with a F250 that hit a million miles π
And I hate saying a 250 is reliable
Because I never had good experience with it
Also hell Ford Crown vics are monsters at reliable when they shouldn't... they're abused as fleet cars and still have over 500k miles
The panther platform has been used for decades for that exact reason though
Some parts of the Canadian patrol force still use vics today iirc
Well yeah but when you abuse a car, they shouldn't even last 200k miles but yet you see all the shit done to them and they drive on 500k miles like it just came out of the factory
We use them here in Georgia as they tackle offroad trails like nothing
They're still police vehicles here
Tesla can't drive offroad so π
b5(.5) and b6 passats over here keep hitting 1 mil km (600k miles) on their original engines
They put all their points in reliability and not looks
Tbh, the B5 wasn't that bad looking for its time
This was a time when its competitors looked equally dull and boring
Like the A6
It's nicer looking but very marginally
its a slightly less fancy A4
And the wagons aged well
Yep
One of the police teslas we have
Audi wagons are the best
We also still use LX foxbodies
Looks like it ate bees
Plus congestion in the city regions is so bad now that you probably won't be getting very far if you rob a bank or smth
That's why we have a congestion charge
Sounds good though
These are still in service here
Foxbody
Yes, still an active police car
County police car for DUI and a highway patrol car
The city next to us also got a few of these
Also we are small cities so the police force are kinda one
You'll see cars from each city patrolling other cities too as kinda like a joint task force
GRS214/ER34/RX-8 are our highway patrol cars and then the GRS180/Leaf are our city patrol cars
The RX-8 Type-A/S never sold all that well so a lot of them were loaned to the police
And are still under loan
I feel bad for you... boring cars to see the police have
Where I used to live, Broward County Florida has police Lamborghinis
Lamborghini dealerships gave them those for free mainly for advertising but they're a permanent police vehicle
Also our city is planning on buying the AWD armored Hellcat Dodge Charger
Noice
Police here are nuts with their cars, kinda like it though because dumbasses that do takeovers have become extinct here
Also deaths by people speeding here has dropped over 300%
(Mainly due to dumbasses driving from Atlanta using our city to race through)
takeovers are the dumbest shit i've ever seen, makes me appreciate the fact I live outside the US
Unless you're in some remote region like Gunsai/Nagano then the police are guaranteed to find you here if you do stupid shit
Gaikan expressway is heavily patrolled now
My favorite video was when some guy in a MKIV Supra was shutting down a huge intersection to do doughnuts and a fucking F-550 crashed into him and drove on top of his hood
The what
Seems kinda redundant to me unless they'd use it for PR stuff
Oh damn, I go through Brookhaven every once and a while but have never seen one of those
It's not sadly, many people here drive fast cars and cops are shot at often
They have a few
I guess I'll look around next time I'm up there for an appointment
Are people shot at while chasing fast cars?
And even then that hellcat is gonna be heavy as fuck
Sometimes, very rare but yeah
Well yeah, armored can't go without heavy...
Unless it's from wish . Com
Then armor is light af but it's not rated to stop a pencil
i decided to redo the dodge commercial because the original one was not up to par, this is a fan made commercial its by no means official

The rumor mill keeps on turning. Toyota is developing a new turbocharged three-cylinder 1.0-liter mild hybrid sports car with help from Suzuki, according to a new report from the Japanese auto publication Best Car.β

Woah that's pretty cool
Watch it flop though if it does become a thing
Purists will be all like "bruh N/A goodness where??!!??!?!? hybrid sacrilege!?!??!?!?!?!? toyota fell off ong fr fr!!!!!!"
As long as they would offer a manual, I'm sure everyone (almost everyone) would be happy considering the bleak future
Hopefully
but if they bring back the MR2 name just for it to be a 2 ton EV i'll cry
Oh it's pretty funny lmao
1 liter, bruh kei car motorcycle havin ass
why's it so small xD
