Depends what you're doing with it
If you want to actually off-road, rooftop tent. If you're sticking to paved streets, graded forest roads, etc, camper van.
yes
ferrari is very strict about their badge being removed
or getting scratched, damaged intentionally
Justin Bieber was banned simply for customizing his Ferrari
And he's not the first multi-millionaire who got banned either from buying a new Ferrari or from being eligible for their VIP list.
The famous Chef Ramsay got banned from their VIP list
I like Ferrari cars, but the brand itself acts like a clingy ex who thinks he still has control over you.
its either that they want their cars to be always known as "red car that goes brrrrr" or they take any modification on their car as insult cus it prolly offends the automotive designer
yeah
pagani is the best
theyre cool
You can't really compare Pagani and Ferrari
not comparing em
The rules in many car brands when buying cars from them is mostly not buying cars with the intent to use them to commit crimes
pagani is cool
Which I think is a given
yeah its pretty normal
you know the uh that one car
which almost got banned in UK
What car is that?
Lotus carlton
shit was so fast and was used for crimes
The Lotus Carlton (also called Vauxhall Lotus Carlton, Lotus Omega and Opel Lotus Omega) is a Vauxhall Carlton/Opel Omega A saloon upgraded by Lotus in order to be able to reach speeds up to 285 km/h (177 mph) with acceleration to equal contemporary sports cars.
i want one of these
prolly rare asf tho
Oh my, no wonder it got banned
What is this?
thats lotus carlton
Oooh, I thought Lotus is all about performance cars
The Carlton was definitely a performance car
I mean, I thought Lotus cars are small, 2-door performance cars
Never thought they'll build a sedan performance car
it actually isnt their car
they gave it to lotus for them to upgrade it
basically "yo take this car and go crazy with it"
during that time whatever this cars actual brand was that brand owned lotus
I think Pagani would be on Bugatti, Koenigsegg and Glickenhaus level
SSC Tuatara is fast too, it's faster than the Agera
If Koenigsegg fans say "Koenigsegg has the best hypercars", Elon Musk might say "Are my Tesla hypercars joke to you?"
if I have the chance to get a "supercar" I'd probably go for a pagani, their design is something I really like
Thats an opel
Let's wait and see until he actually makes them
If only I had 230 grand
The headlights ruin it for me
That's my main problem with the SLR; the headlights
There are a bunch of things about the car I'm not sure about
arent these mclaren slr's extremely rare?
nah
Those SLRs are so damn ugly
They look good
The overall shape of the car, the wheels, the headlights, the hood
yes it was a collab vehicle
Oh, thanks
the engine was either made by both of them or mclaren did it themselves im not sure which one is it
The profile just looks weird with the rear glass and rear bumper. Pointy front end, rounded rear, no bueno
McLaren did a collab with at least 2 German luxury vehicle manufacturers
I assume this is also a collab since this McLaren F1 uses a BMW engine
https://gran-turismo.fandom.com/wiki/BMW_McLaren_F1_GTR_Race_Car_'97
The BMW McLaren F1 GTR Race Car '97 is a race car produced by BMW and McLaren. It first appeared in Gran Turismo 4 Prologue (where it was named BMW McLaren F1 GTR FINA (Long) '97), and has returned in every main game since, with the exception of Gran Turismo Sport. The car is #42, driven by J.J. Lehto, Steve Soper, and Nelson Piquet, who partici...
This isn't the same level of collaboration as the slr because that car is labeled as both companies.
It's sorta like how the new Supra uses bmw components but it is not called the supra bmw (which would be pretty funny)
Mclaren originally wanted homda to power their street going f1 because they were so impressed by the nsx
Honda said no and then they went to bmw
So that's why this McLaren F1 has BMW engine
Didn't they throw it in an SUV too
Yea it was that race concept one
Very wacky of them but it was for the Vine
So they were obligated to do so
When I think of peak race car I thing of a high ground clearance 4000 pound circular object

4000 pounds seems kinda light
4.7 second zero to 60
That's
Kinda slow for a vehicle of its size and power band
As a Ford owner, I'd shit my pants if I attempt to ride a bike and do that
mustang?
finally managed to find a hole in the firewall where the clutch pedal is supposed to be, gonna use that to wire a subwoofer + amp, and do it myself
time for more bass
Jeremy Clarkson talks about his father and why he loves the Porsche 928
#topgear #jeremyclarkson #porsche #porsche928 #ytshorts
This should be a Porsche advertisement
any hatchback fans here?
that looks old
Early-mid 80's
Sick
Which is better, Lancer Evo or Mitsubishi Eclipse?
I remember them. Super nimble cars
If people think BMW and Merc can be easily bought by poor people, then why do people think Porsche is for rich people?
Those 3 are luxury brands
I have a bright idea for fuel efficiency with less stress. For example, instead of having a pickup with an 5.0L V8 engine or bigger, why not build a twin-engine pickup? A car with dual 1.6L I4 engines? What could possibly go wrong?

In what regard?
Performance

🔥
@delicate grotto @jagged sentinel
We have ways of getting okay mpg out of trucks
Though you often need to pay extra for it
Decent is a relative term
Trucks need to be built to tow so putting a measly incapable engine in it is silly. That's why trucks are still 6L+ and turbo diesel
And dual engine setups are just overtly expensive and technologically declined.
To make a basic 4.0 V8 AWD efficiency comparable to 2 I4s you'd need about 2.6L per engine due to extra weight and drivetrain complications.
The Twin Mill by Hotwheels explored on that with 2 V8s mounted Parallel to each other and it struggled to push realistic standards due to those reasons.
Not to mention
Where
Under the bed?
That aswell
Why did this audio get so popular it is the worst utter shit I've even heard xD
They also did a duel engine Audi tt thats thing was sick
Yea but it'd be more effective to put a V10 instead of 2 I5s , especially when you use it out of performance and more in terms of reliability.
hover cars 🤷♂️
There goes yet another sports car icon
Didn't they cancel the tt like 3 times
No more baby R8
Coula swore that model was always in and out
Considering the patterns we're seeing with a ton of other models I reckon this one will be gone longer than it usually is
its sad that small sports cars are getting expensive and therefore the people that actually like small sports cars arent getting much choices other than a miata or something
Everything is getting more expensive it sucks
Besides inflation, I think another reason why cars are getting more expensive is because customers are demanding for more features
It's because of
A. Cars are getting more complicated
B. High demand
C. Low supply
D. Greed
Dealerships know that customers nowadays are willing to pay a little more than MSRP for their cars and are taking advantage
From my understanding it will automatically set the climate controls to values that you set
I think my maverick does that at startup
Back then, manual ACs are fine, but now, even single-zone automatic climate control is on its way to becoming outdated
Since dual-zone climate control is becoming more apparent here
Single zone will still be the standard for cheap cars
Yeah, I was about to say that single zone would be for cheap cars
But for expensive SUVs, dual-zone should be the standard
My dad is probably going to dislike DRLs because he's gonna say that it's a waste of battery
And there's no switch to turn DRLs off
Any Jaguar fans?
is that a bike path?
Where is that monstrosity of a lane tf
Paint on my Porsche came out pretty good after a 4k sand, ill do 5k tomorrow and if I remember to get a vid I'll send it here
Motorcycle path
The bus went on the motorcycle lane I guess....
After passing the bridge it got stuck at the crossroad due to not enough space to turn right RIP

The Ls7 is one brutal sounding engine, and in my opinion, with a cam, the sound just can't be beat. Let me know what your guys favorite V8 sounds are!
Modifications include:
Halltech MF103
Mamo Motorsports ls2/ls7 silver blade ported throttle body
Mamo Motorsports ported and shaved MSD Airforce Intake
...
One of the most American engines of the 21st century
Not including crate motors
Got a vid of 5k, Glaze later
What model of Porsche?
1985 Porsche 928S
This is so cool to me
Any other Jaguar owners in here?
ZX10R owner here
well, if I don't see a link here after a month, I know what happened
People really just be posting footage of them doing illegal shit nowadays huh
If its not legally bindable then they can't get you on any sort of offense, I've done 300+ on public roads while remaining safe and they won't catch you if you're smart about it.
Wish you get hit once while doing such a run tbh
Let’s see your vehicle control skills
I've been on the highway and in a racing crew since 2003, I'm entering into the Budget league with my personal team and have competed in Group N charity cups with my Opel Superboss. Never wish death upon anyone even if you know I can't reach you. I've clocked 312kmh at 2am on an Empty N1 road on the way to Cape Town with spotters up and ready well before I was there. My car is a 2009 Chevrolet Lumina SS with upgrades to 500hp and chassis work to be stable on banked surfaces and uneasy surfaces. And yes, I do have a racing license, a motorcycle license, a car license and a 10ton+ truck license. I'm more than qualified enough to consider going those speeds and i do it in the best way possible to avoid an accident. And another thing to add to the matter, literally noone would hit me when I do my runs, I prep it for weeks and we test convoy first with the spotters in place then final run with no plates and a guaranteed nobody on the highway.
Just because you’re qualified to go that speed doesn’t make it any more legal on public roads tho, In your case you prep for it so it’s a little bit more respectable but the Bike video is just straight up asshole driving
may natural selection take drivers like this so the rest of us can be safe
People like you are what give motorcyclists a bad name, why people usually blame the guy on the motorcycle when they get in a wreck
oh hey i was able to see a few license plates
wonder if an anonymous report to the local police department with a link to the video and channel would help
motorcyclists drive like that then will complain about people not seeing them on the road
so true
i agree
i think bikers are dumb
Can't argue that, I absolutely despise reckless driving as I've lost lots of friends from it, I actually barely even do high speed runs anymore and my Lumina nowadays is used as the grocery getter.
Most people around here speed on highways mainly because any race track is like 5 hours away and it’s expensive
Yea I used to track my Lumina extensively when I was tuning it, for a full day at Kyalami with my friends to test the car ot was around 3k USD just for the passes
If i remember correct, racetracks are free in germany, it probably doesnt change anything for the dudes that wants to be there quickly though
$3000 for a single DAY?!?!
Yes with 3 other friends, due to the power and the facilities we needed we basically had to pay the GT3 prices for a day.
2 of the cars weren't road legal so we needed trailer accommodation, to tune the cars was one lot with a dyno, and as we are all 350hp+ we are considered as high powered cars so we had to enter separately
$3000 for multiple people that sounds expensive but at least better than $3000 individually
That ofcourse doesn't include the Semi Slicks, the Fuel, the Diesel for the trucks, any types of failures software or hardware wise, everything else 😂
This is why people speed on public roads
Yea at the time it was worth it and we all had brand new cars at the time so it was worth it
Fun with cars = rich people
On that day if I can remember correctly it was my Lumina, a GTR(new at the time) A 911, and an SLS
Needless to say I was the most practical of the bunch😂
Like a Chevy ss?
Yes
Cool
Going to make on GTA.
More people need to know about this
The car is literally so drop-dead ugly that it looks like mansory had a say in how it should be designed
The ironic part is that is the least pureblood ferrari I've ever layed eyes on
It is everything Ferrari shouldn't be
One is an organization and another is a car idk why they just both can't have the name
Petrol going down again in January
What the fuck? I know Ferrari did some wild shit but this is ridiculous
Just curious, did Ferrari have any prior association with that word?
No
Ferrari is just a bitch
Hmmm I’ll have to look at the article a little more closer but you can just claim intellectual property all willy nilly like that
If anything that charity should file a motion for sanctions against Ferrari
For a frivolous suit
i skateboard
Hmm yes indeed
i skateboard to the 7/11 and get a tall can in a brown bag
and i drinks that shit playboy
Coyote
sounds like a mean ass stang
Very unique sound
No clue
The coyote platform has a huge aftermarket scene
DOHC engines are able to rev higher then pushrod engines
that's good to hear
supra doesn't because they used a bmw engine
lol
automatic too
But more moving parts, more complexity, bla bla bla
what, coyote engine?
Yeah, their DOHC
so i can't learn what that means in a few minutes
Obviously it doesn't seem to be seen as much of a problem
Not from my dumb ass, no
nono, i mean i looked it up and it'll take me a long time to understand it
not not from you
There is a bit of an interesting story behind why Chevy decided to use pushrods in the modern era
So
I'm the early 90s when the C4 Vette was nearing it's end, they put 2 different engines in 2 cars
One of them was an overhead cam engine
One was a pushrod
And a group of Chevy brass drove them (and I mean DROVE them) around a test track
And from what I remember they all had a discussion and they found that the pushrod design that was more enjoyable to drive
they use pushrods in hellcats?
I do know Cadillac tried doing a DOHC V8 via the Northstar
and demons and shit?
Yup
Which didn't go very well
that's very interesting
so driver experience is influenced by pushrod-using engines
I guess they found it more fun
and the only reason why i know of hellcats and demons is because they're all over the internet
i would say it paid off
good decision, right?
I'd think so
I mean to be fair
The LS's success isn't solely due to it's pushrod
It was just a good engine platform
i believe you
A good portion of them were overbuilt
LS seems renowned
Even some moderately used LS engines can still take a good beating
so they're reslient
Extremely
or durable
Yeah
shit i guess i gotta get a 90s chevy lol
Do you know what formula drift is
nah
just take formula 1 and replace the 1 with a drift
It's professional tandem drifting
And a very solid portion of the cars there use LS engines
oh
There are some pretty wild builds there
Like I believe there's a twin supercharged Aston Martin V12 vantage
Yeah, Americans love our low-end torque
And from what I've heard, at least the sportier LS engines deliver their torque very linearly, so they're a bit easier to learn
that's wild that ls engines are used for a drift league
And it isn't standard equipment or anything
It was the team's choice as to what type of build they wanted
There was almost an EV Camaro drift car in FD
that's what i was thinking, ev
And like
The FD organizers were working on changing the rules specifically so that car could be allowed
But I guess it didn't work out cuz I don't know if it ever raced
Half the cars on that grid make like a thousand horsepower, so
eh, torque
Those cars are no joke
I mean low end torque really doesn't matter much because they pretty much hold the cars at or near redline their entire runs
It definitely would
I mean obviously they weren't going to give it 1800 horsepower
i can totally see ev threatening a drift race
I believe it was right around what the gas engines were making
can you link me to a clip of a formula drift race
The electric Camaro made around 800 lb-ft of torque
low-end torque though

lol this shit is crazy
Fr
FD is my second favorite division of motorsport
I'm not actually sure if it's considered "official"
Ye
im guessing playoff format
im watching top 16 so im guessing yeah, playoffs
I don't really actively watch any motorsport; I used to watch GTLM
I'm starting to get into Dakar though
Current or all-time?
both
All-time has got to be group B rally
Imagine a division with Almost no rules or regulations at all
ill check it out
No budget restrictions, power, weight, very little safety
looked it up and saw a bunch of gta rally cars lol
I don't follow rally much
Dakar is the only rally division I watch, and that's way different to what 99% of people think rally is
i have no idea what rally is
what's your current favorite motorsport?
i only ask what group a is because you mentioned group b
GTLM
But my favorite GTLM car was retired in 2019
so i googled it
Actually no, not this
i see bmw m6 and some article saying "farewell to gtm and a golden age of gt racing"
drag races right?
No car from any motorsport will ever be as batshit insane as a top fuel dragster
Yes
i'd agree
10,000 horsepower
so you don't keep up with f1?
It's hard not to
granted it's different
I don't even follow F1 very closely and I still end up hearing about how often Hamilton fucking farts during a a pitstop
f1 went pop
I see F1 stuff all over my socials
It's always been popular
sure which is why a neophyte like me would know about it
hamilton got knighted
after a losing year
i heard of schumacher too
gotta go pop
Ye
I see
College
lol pretty much
driver is drunk too but he's on private property so it doesn't matter
This was at an open house 💀
me too honestly
My instructor was driving that yellow buggy
you heard toyota is developing an ev with manual transmission?
Yeah
Heard about the patents a few months ago
Basically emulates the different gear ratios a conventional ICE transmission would have
And I assume you'll be able to put it in automatic mode
Since it doesn't have any actual gears
i'd hope so
Or maybe not
The coolest transmission I've ever seen though
Is the Koenigsegg CC850
like any business, they're tasked with appealing to their customers
what's cool about it if you don't mind
Oh Christ...
So it's a transmission with automatic and manual settings
Stick manual, by the way
Not paddles
so it electronically takes care of the clutch
It's fucking crazy
so im reading the article and may see that it definitely is hard to explain
i don't know what a synchronizer is
i did catch this quote though
“It’s an augmented electronic control,” von Koenigsegg said, “but we worked really hard to make it absolutely genuine in its analog feel. So you can’t just pull it out of gear without the clutch unless you rev-match it. You can’t shift down to a too-low gear without forcing it. If you push hard, you feel the resistance of what would be the synchros. If you push the clutch fast, it’s heavier. All those kind of things that make it completely natural feeling, like a manual, but having the upside of different gear ratios in different modes.”
and this "The gorgeous, gated shifter in the middle of the CC850's cockpit is basically an electronic signal device — it has no mechanical connection to the transmission. But a complex set of sensors can tell the shifter’s exact position at all times, and where it’s headed, so the transmission can anticipate which clutches to engage as you complete your shift and bring your foot off the clutch pedal. The result is a semi-electronic, semi-hydraulic shifting system that fully replicates the feel of driving a manual."
it shows people really want manual cars
I'm pretty sure Christian did it because he could
who's Christian
Christian Von Koenigsegg
oh
sure, koenigsegg is renowned
i don't even know how they make money tbh
or any supercar company for that matter
Low-volume high price
ultimately they have to sell more product than upkeep. koenigsegg is crazy
Something as insignificant as the hydraulic hood struts are made in-house
that's more expensive
They also made a car without a transmission
okay, so i say this because i know bugatti hasn't made a profit in a while
but they got bought by vw and was used for marketing
I'm sure they profited from La Voiture Noire
Which is a Chiron with a bodykit that wasn't even built by Bugatti or VW
that's 18 engineers
Underneath it's a Chiron
sure
Is that a sarcastic sure or
no

Alr
im saying supercar companies have a hard time making a profit

they have to hire the best engineers and pay for the best infrastructure
and then they sell a limited number of cars at a high price to the richest people on earth
are you the same bitch from the tech server?
Yes🤣
i won't ever see you again
Nope
It took Lamborghini 30 years to make a profit
sounds reasonable, although they've been selling plenty tractors
speaking of lambo, ferrari makes more money off licensing their brand than their cars
since lambo was founded by someone who worked for and hated ferrari
Mr Lamborghini didn't work for Ferrari
mb he bought one
Wha
Man I don't know you that well idk if you're sarcastic or not🗿
fair
well i gave you my word
you gave me a lot of cool info so im not about to be sarcastic and shit
So the story I've heard a few different times is that Ferruccio Lamborghini (henceforth referred to as Mr Lamborghini or Mr Lambo because CBA to type his name) bought a Ferrari and had a problem with the clutch
And apparently he came up with a solution and brought it to Enzo Ferrari and offered it to him, to which Enzo responded with something to the tune of "go back to your tractors, farmer"
and now rappers and millionaires prefer lambos
I do too
because they look doper
Because I have the mental age of 8
poetic justice
There's a reason I love big V8s so much
eh, i prefer lambos
i think boomers should prefer lambos as well
imagine telling a boomer that you can't repaint your car
Lamborghini themselves spawned one of the most iconic Italian supercar manufacturers out of negativity as well
which
Pagani
They are
And they 100% deserve their spot in the boutique supercar royalty
they do
Alongside Bugatti, Koenigsegg, etc
the cars are beautiful
pagani is fucking wild, ill just say that
and not much else
They came on to the scene with a bang and they haven't slowed down at all
Which is what's so impressive
it is
They haven't missed
just gif'd a pagani
regardless of how good their current models are, i want that zonda
it'll cost $800k to maintain every year, but i still want it
I want your opinion on current supercar top players
Keyboard supercar, not hypercar
what is a keyboard supercar?
i'd say best bang for buck, gt-r
that's been my position in that category for a while
The Corvette obliterates the 3 I mentioned in price
oh out of the four?
i suppose the corvette is the best bang for buck
lambo, mclaren, and ferrari have the brand behind them
therefore they cost more
It makes me so happy that america finally has a genuine supercar worthy of competing with the heavyweights
It's even got a proper supercar engine
i think viper joined their ranks too, but that didn't last long
yeah, corvette is OP
No pushrods no more, that bitch got DOHC
is that good
No more Cross-plane, it's a flatplane crank a la Ferrari
new corvette?
Yes, the C8 Z06
Chevy learned from the best
They studied the engine of the Ferrari 458 italia
nice
btw same deal with flatplane/crossplane, it'll take me a while to understand so i dunno
That is actually much easier to explain
was that model flatplane?
They can rev higher, faster and in a more balanced manner
The new 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 debuts an all-new 670-HP 5.5L DOHC V-8 engine that marks a return to natural aspiration for the track-capable performance model.
Engine responsiveness and trackability, two characteristics of naturally aspirated motors, were the top priorities for providing an engaging driving experience for purists. As a re...
im assuming they interact with valves in the engine, etc
It's what moves the pistons up and down in the order that they do
Fuck yeah I do
was mid-engine a good move?
It's what Daddy Zora has wanted since the beginning
he wanted/predicted a mid-engine corvette though
hmm damn
if it's durable, it would be smart to buy it used
you know, new car/sports car tax
I wouldn't buy a first-year car anyway
yeah, generally a bad idea
Especially with a powerplant as groundbreaking for Chevy as the C8 Z06's
The Corvette was arguably a world-class sports car before
i thought it was now
But now with the quality of the C8 and the performance of the Z06 I think it is going to be a world-class supercar
That car is aimed directly at the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren
Exactlyyy
corvette is cracking their facade
And it doesn't suffer from the build quality previous gens did
nah, not where im at
they turn their heads because they think they're looking at a ferrari, lambo, mclaren
Cuz they could have just thrown in another LT engine (that's the V8 family they use now) to save money
But they didn't
just being real
so you said you're from michigan, and i'll reciprocate
im from california
that's why they turn their heads
They developed a completely bespoke engine specifically for this car and shot for the stars
i'd say it paid off
You can't deny that this is the hardest Chevy has ever tried
eh, regardless of how hard they tried, they pulled off a good one with corvette
i have no clue how hard they tried
all i can see is the result
corvette is a head-turner
Think about it
tbh, i'd rather see a corvette than a mclaren
Not as much the Huracan Technica is
we're talking personal taste
huracans are common where im at
it's boring
i respect your taste in cars, don't get me wrong
Have you seen the Technica
I'm not going to bother
can you empathize with me at the very least
i see rich douchebags in lambos and mclarens and whatever
i like seeing someone enjoying a corvette
regardless of year
You probably know this by now
But I'd rather go to the Woodward Dream Cruise or AutoRama than Pebble Beach or Monterey car week
You probably don't know what I'm talking about do you
i dunno about car meets outside of gta
no i don't
so one is for rich people and one is for everyone
These two photos tell you all you need to know about the Woodward Dream Cruise
that looks fun
Cruises are a huge thing in Michigan
ship cruises?
In spite of the roads💀
lol yeah with cars come traffic
Not even that
they'll all eventually get to where they need to be
The roads in Michigan just fucking suck lmao
oh
Let me go find some pictures of AutoRama
Which I attended this year, was very cool
what time of year do they usually go down?
Woodward Dream Cruise happens in late August
Define cold
eh lets not gatekeep cold
💀
but it is cold here. lemme look it up
it's 40 right now
im sure it's colder in michigan
i was just gonna say im sure it's colder in ohio
im a particularly cold region in cali
I went to Cali for Thanksgiving
nice
I did get to meet up with a childhood/scouts friend though
nice, that's what it's about
I went to San Diego
dope
oh
yeah, sd isn't where you see douchebags driving supercars
you can guess which city where that's the case
Tbf I live in a pretty nice neighborhood
.
I figured
i asked you to guess
I was distracted by my food, sorry
being from LA, you may understand why i enjoy corvettes more than lambos
Yes
Who does
other douchebags trying to get rich with networking
Okay fair
the culture here is fucked up
M
regardless, im happy whenever i see an old corvette on the road. it's not often
People don't take them out often back home either
As long as they
You know
Perform the action that the vehicle was oh-so-carefully designed and engineered to do
which is to drive it
Exactly
Shoot
oh
i was wondering how you determine how tightly you turn the drain plug
i think mechanics know how to do it by feel
wanted to change my own oil
It's really hard to overtighten it with your hands
If you over tighten it you can strip the threads
Which, again, if you can manage to do with just your hands, it's about impressive as it is unfortunate
It's better to use both
i know there's torque involved
From what I can fjnd online, finger-tighten it until the plug is snug with the pan and then do like a quarter turn with a wrench or until you feel it really trying to stop
for sure, but good info
tbh im more concerned about the car falling on my face while i do it lol
im in the newb stage
That's fair
You probably know this
probably dont
But do NOT only hold the car up via the floor jack
Use jack stands
Unless you're using a lift
Which are... Harder to come by
the thing is given i only wanna change oil, it's a big upfront cost
but sure, i gotta do all that
jack stands
so i don't get decapitated
I've done oil on one of our cars before, but it was
A. On a full 2-post lift because the skirts and bumper are too low for the jack at home
B. The car is from 1987 lol
how's a 1987 car different
Shit is way less packed together
is it higher?
Wdym
as in you can get under it without a jack
im asking what this means
earnestly, im curious
There's way more room in the engine bay because there's way less shit in it because there's way less computerized stuff
No, we still had to go under the car to drain it
That car is fuel injected, which was actually a relevant thing back then
Yes
yeah, those days are no more it seems
But the 2-post lift made it pretty easy anyway
im sensing you want an 87 camaro
Nah, never meet your heroes and all that
not an ls engine
It's a Chevy small block though
Which is also one of those you-can't-go-wrong things
i dunno man, 87 camaro looking pretty nice
as long as it's not chopping your head off
It won't, it's too blunt lol
lol because it's old
Plus Seatbelts had been mandatory for like 20 years by that point
oh geez lets not debate seatbelts
No, never
I firmly believe they're the single most important automotive invention of the last 60 or so years
They patently like half the safety features we have in our cars
But the man who patented the seatbelt is an absolute legend for keeping the patent open
So that companies could use the patent free of charge
I don't know how anyone could debate that seatbelts are useless considering the amount of evidence that we have to the contrary
Not to get political but
not political
That wasn't the right word
potentially divisive?
I suppose
i agree it was a solid by volvo
can't be too nice though. they've done enough for the public good
seatbelts
you're on xbox right?
Correct
im on pc 😦
Rear-facing child seat
Booster cushion
Integrated booster cushion
Side impact protection system
Whiplash protection system
Rollover protection system
Blindspot monitoring
Pedestrian auto brake
are all those free?
Those are Volvo's safety innovations
it's a good list
I mean we see a lot of them in lots of cars, so
Or maybe they left the patents open
that would be cool
Which I wouldn't be surprised by
they are scandinavian
I've always thought of Volvo as one of the most benevolent car companies out there
scandinavians are super nice
they definitely are
Plus I just think they make good cars
I know that the 240 is super old but
I still like them
they do
Plus some of them sound spectacular
they're in the upper range in the states, but they're good cars
might not be literal tanks anymore though
what car is that
the sound doesn't match the video
Is the lack of backfire throwing you off
nah the lack of acceleration paired with the lack of noise
Or does it just sound too good
sound is good. i just think there was a video editing error
It's straight piped
That is unedited footage
I'm listening to it on my phone's speakers and the acceleration and sounds match up pretty well
God I wish my maverick sounded like that☠️
I wonder if anyone has coyote swapped a maverick yet

Time to do some funny math
Alright, I must go
Great talking with you though @steady cipher
great talking with you too
gg
🤝
volvo and saab are definitely amazing brands
I mean volvo watered down because and saab's no more
but their older second hand models are still great
the only big cars I would ever consider owning
They were originally a plane company so that makes sense I guess, I didn't know they still did planes
That's their main thing
The Saab JAS 39 Gripen (IPA: [ˈɡrǐːpɛn]; English: griffin) is a light single-engine multirole fighter aircraft manufactured by the Swedish aerospace and defense company Saab AB. The Gripen has a delta wing and canard configuration with relaxed stability design and fly-by-wire flight controls. Later aircraft are fully NATO interoperable. As of 20...
damn, this doesn't look like a reskinned Chevy
this can't be a real Saab

Found a steal
I hate car posts with snapchat filters
Honey I shrunk the car
Lol
I like that she/he didn't reverse until it stopped spilling
This is really satisfying because nobody potential got hurt and the car didn't get wrecked but the absolute dumbass got karma served to them still
Rocket league moment
fr
is that the bumblebee camaro?
Yes
nice
It sounds really good too but I don't have any videos of it
You're gonna have to take my word for it
Or don't, I guess
This was AutoRama, too
One of the biggest aftermarket shows in the states
And it was in the cradle of the American car industry
Or a ghost town, whichever description you prefer
(Detroit)
sounds like a fun event
honestly i've never been to a car show, but i know it's good vibes
I got in a few hours earlier then everyone else because I went with my auto shop class; it was education day or something so students got in awhile before everyone else
So I got to walk around the whole place without any crowds or anything
that's cool that they do that
The place was HUGE
Sorry for the shit frames, compression is a bitch sometimes
that mustang on the left caught my eye
I'll see if I have pictures of it
you don't have to
Nahnahnah
just have a soft-spot for old mustangs
One second
my favorite is foxbody late 80's early 90's mustang
it's the plainest mustang they've ever produced but i love it
god damn
Some of the builds here were absolutely insane
that's not eleanor is it?
No
the grey one in the middle
Eleanor was a GT500, not a KR
Don't think so
some beautiful cars
And I'm not talking like massive blower, stripped out interiors and big slicks at the back
it's cool that detroit is a haven for american automotives
Like builds that are perfectly clean down to the fitment of the headlights to the body
An Evo build to kill god
mitsubishi evo?
Yes
They put mirrors under the cars so you can see what the underside of the engine bay and body look like
That's how in-depth some of the builds here are
im guessing those tubes mean turbo
Hold on
The turbo is visible; it's that turbine looking thing at the very front of the engine
what're those tubes that point upward
Exhaust pipes
That bitch got a good exit
The thing I circled is the turbo
gotcha
was that before the release?
This was in February
And they only got around to delivering the first production Z06's within like the last month
nice
lol is that a fucking engine?
An engine with a mirror on the floor
yeah, that's too much
