not really
better quality
more luxurious
more features
Idk i feel like its looks and feels cheap
depends which model
also i hate the fact that they are being lazy and basically all the models are the same
And I will hate hardware features locked behind monthly subscription fees
fuck BMW
The old mercs used to have the finest leather wood etc now its a sea of plastics with ambient lighting
their explanation was some people want heated seats, some people dont, but they are lazy to make two different seats, so they just make you pay for it
If you have a BMW with heated seats locked behind subcription wall, then just pirate it
not true
the plastic is only on like cheaper models
People will pirate it
E class or S class have much better materials
Well I'm talking about c class and gla and stuff like that
once our altis coe expires we are probably getting a benz SUV
Lame excuse, they could've just gave the car without heated seats and with heated seats as options
but hasnt the entry level ones always been lower quality materials
Even e class isn't that great tbh a superb or a passat feels like a better choice over an a class
e class is quite nice
I wish it had more buttons
Besides the black bezels on the screen is too thick even in s class or even the hyperscreens
tbh i rather have a executive car from a mainstream brand like toyota rather than some entry level car from a luxury brand, pricing is similar but the executive car is better
2013 i pad looking ass
i agree on the button part completely
but i guess they assume you use autopilot so…
I still would love to own a Volvo car...
It is true that the executive sedans have premium suspension and body components like aluminum knuckles arms, a lot of nvh padding etc but the interior feels not so special
But Volvo is owned by Geely now
A class saloon and Camry is roughly the same price here
Camry/superb any day
At least most of it
yeah
a class saloon poor interior quality
small af
basically a branded altis
A Camry here in Ph used to be meh in interior
but the camry is longer, more luxurious
camry interior improved quite a lot
Moreover it'll stay
Ph versions of vehicles are often downgraded though but I still have to check it out
camry is like a lite version of a C/E class, while the A class is like a branded altis
Now toyota is hybridizing everything the jury is out on that but so far they're reliable
A Class is SGD 194,888 from importers with COE, 161 bhp, small size, basically altis quality
Camry is SGD 180K, 176 bhp, longer, leather everywhere
But because there's no competition because ford left the market they're marked up really high
Finally, Toyota Ph got rid of the horrendously mismatched infotainment for Rav4
And Camry
here a harrier is also around the same price as a GLA
I dont likw the way camry looks these days
why
Too grilly
still a better choice than branded altis
Yes yes
harrier is still better than GLA
The superb and passat seems like a really nice choice tho
German luxury but actually well priced
harrier is like a lite version of a GLC, and then the GLA is like what, a cheap SUV with a branded logo?
Oh my, for the 2021 Toyota Altis 1.6V, that screen looks really mismatched...
Like copy paste
i thought you dont own a car
Accord used to be great too but stupid cvt
I don't, I just searched videos
Right now, it would make sense for Toyota to discontinue the Camry's V6 engine
This is what i hate the bezels
Even in s class theres an inch of bezel in gauge cluster and half an inch in main
if we arent getting a GLC or E class probably just get camry/harrier
Feels so cheap man
Looks luxurious and mismatched at the same time
weird ugly colour choice
Yes
this is way better
This Camry seems to have different interior from the Ph Camry
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5a7F8Al89Y
New for 2022, the Toyota Camry Hybrid expands on the incredibly successful nameplate in the Philippines once again. Now with Toyota's hybrid system on board, we expect this model to break new fuel economy records either while driving on the road or sitting in the traffic of the Philippines. Built to be one of the most comfortable mid-size sedans...
Like tablets and mobile phones have less than 2 mm bezels now for like half a grand
But the 120k merc has inches of it
i agree, mercedes need to fix their screen, need OLED 120hz screen for such a car
is there a toyota factory there
Yes
thats why
CKD are different than CBD
well maybe they sent the older model or smth
I couldn't send a link of a video which shows better view of the dashboard but I'll post the pic here
fortunately here we get the nice version
eh i think thats the same?
just different colours
It looks different from the pic you posted here
the ones sold in singapore are like that too
The most powerful & advanced Toyota Camry Hybrid. New 2.5L Dynamic Force Engine & greater fuel efficiency. Luxury like no other before. Book a test drive now to experience it yourself.
No more non-hybrids
same
Man, Ph Hilux doesn't even get rear AC vents which we really need 😦
Exactly
If you are skimping premium buttons for a screen atleast make it premium
Btw, what Euro compliance is the standard in SG? I'm just curious
Gosh, why am I still in love with the Mitsubishi Pajero Fieldmaster?
wdym
Are they Euro 4, 5, 6?
Here in Ph, car emission standards follow is based on European emission standards
uh diesels for passenger cars are very rare
Oh
mainly used for heavy vehicles and taxi
the road tax for diesels are like double
unless you are like a grab driver makes no sense for diesel
I like this car
Well, here, diesels are gonna die if things don't go back to the way it was before the war because diesel fuel price has become more expensive than petrol fuel price

i wonder how are flying cars going to land, like you cant just do it in the middle of a busy traffic
If all cars are flying, busy traffic will probably be in the air
thats true but for the first phase of flying cars only selected cars can fly
this feature will eventually go to other cars
Boring but reliable
Btw, while people here talked about Corolla Altis and Camry Hybrid...
Toyota Prius: Is nobody gonna talk about me?
prius suck
it’s roughly the same price as camry
not the same level of luxury
Here, Prius is a little more expensive than Camry
Oh my, the interior does suck for its price
Camry's dashboard looks better by many levels than this
why do prius even exist
Not to mention Prius' engine is 1.8L with low power output for a 1.8L petrol engine yet it's more expensive than the more elegant and powerful Camry.
ikr
i have no idea why taxi operators here use the prius
why not use the camry
Or Altis
yeah
Altis Hybrid has same engine while being a lot cheaper.
No wonder I don't see any Prius on the streets
A Toyota Camry's price here is ₱ 2,402,000, a Toyota Altis Hybrid's price here is ₱ 1,665,000 while a Toyota Prius' price here is ₱ 2,436,000
here altis hybrid and camry hybrid are around same price
because of altis having an engine larger than 1.6 L, the COE becomes Cat B
like the camry
I'm surprised Toyota Ph didn't delist Prius by now
The 1.6L is non-hybrid, right?
1.6L for non hybrid
1.7L for hybrid
A flying car is a helicopter
Stupid mfs trying to reinvent the wheel
I know what makes Prius expensive, it's hybrid and made in Japan itself

But kidding aside, even if a Toyota car is built in Thailand, I think it's still a Japanese car because of its brand
altis hybrid is SGD 184,888
camry hybrid is SGD 187,888
Oh wow
About the Toyota Supra, it will be a lot more expensive than it already is if it's not jointly made by BMW according to Toyota
Could even reach 6 figures probably in terms of USD
So thank you BMW for making it more affordable
Hybrids don't really make sense
Series Hybrids like the prius are efficient because the engine is a generator
But most Hybrids are parallel which means at any point either the batteries or the motor is dead weight
Is this what makes Prius expensive?
Probably
I really wish I have Supra, it's the most basic fast turbocharged sports car I can think of with AT
Prius has become a brand now
The corolla hybrid which is the same car basically is much cheaper
Prius is the first Toyota's mass produced hybrid car after all
is the supra a sports version
low range sports car
JDM fanboys: angry JDM noises
Btw...
My friends: Why do you want a Mustang V8 for?
Me:
- To hasten my highway drive times
- So that I have a car to flex
- For fuel efficiency

In highway speeds the mustang maybe more efficient than a corolla
How about in stop and go traffic?
i fucking hate altis
Because at 90mph the mustang is practically idling but the toyota is revving its heart out
my parents have a trouble going to a mountain in malaysia with some cat a car
Probably corolla tho
cat a coe cars are only good if you dont go to malaysia mountain
the cheapest sedan is actually the vios
The petrol variants of the Toyota Innova and Fortuner should have a 2.0L or 2.5L Dynamic Force engine instead of their 2.0 1TR-FE and 2.7 2TR-FE engines
and if you dont intend to break the law during malaysia trip
malaysia highway is 110, but as you already know there is almost no enforcement, and people use the app that uses GPS and when someone spots a traffic camera they warn others about it
What kind of mountain is that?
so people drive like 150, but with an altis you can get 120 at best
Cat A cars have to be 130 bhp or lesser
they didnt have the horsepower rule at first, only the engine size rule, but then car manufacturers like mercedes started making cars like C class with less than 1.6L engine, the government felt that it was unfair since the C class is significantly more expensive than other cars in Cat A, like the toyota altis, hence they decided to have horsepower limit
I don't like the Altis 1.6L because it's slow in climbing zigzag mountainous roads which our former Civic FD 1.8L can easily do
We sold the Civic and I miss it
And our Civic's braking response is also strong
tbh the COE category based on engine size does not make a single sense, the purpose of COE is to control vehicles on road, not to tax people with better cars
same for road tax too
COE and road tax for all vehicles of the same category should be the same
the tax for better cars is called the ARF
In terms of being eco, yeah it's often weird because you could be better off having a 1.5L 3cyl over a 2L 4cyl with a hybrid unit, thus adding another 200kg
but manufacturers have to meet quota's, so there's that
in terms of performance, having an electric engine in addition to IC, is very nice
also saving money
That entirely depends on the country of purchase. But, hybrid vehicles are more difficult and expensive to maintain than ICE
you can go to any garage and replace an exhaust, you can't do that with licensed electronics
You have twice the mechanicals
just buy one with a warranty that guarantees a battery replacement for the next few years
The c43 hybrid has an e supercharger, a turbo charger, variable valve timing, a 48v electric starter system, and an electric drivetrain
my uncle’s BMW X5 from 2019, well the battery got replaced 3 times alr
while the S400 from 2014 only once
Wait a few more years
i quite like the Malaysia CKD S400

hes in malaysia so he own 3 cars
Oo
2008 E200, 2014 S400, BMW X5
Oo yuppie
my cousin in Kuala Lumpur is a hardcore toyota man
2018 Toyota Altis, 2020 Toyota Prius, 2016 Toyota Camry
Toyota's fanbase is strong
they are now considering a lexus
Used Tacomas have insane resale value
Ye
the sister drives the camry, mom drives a prius, the bro drives the altis
Well there the same car for 20 yrs
which is not really useful for second-hand sales, which will be the vast majority
it's futile to focus on hybrid and electric technology, while also forcing consumers to buy a new vehicle every few years
that's insanely unsustainable
both economically and ecosystemically
no lol the S400 my uncle owns is a hybrid
has been using for 8 years
no plans to get rid of that legend
malaysia roads are horrible quality, and when that S400 drives on it, you really cant feel the bumps
yes, but there currently is a transition from ICU to hybrid
with changes to gas-pricing and insurance costs
yeah
people who are not well off need to make that transition, which is very costly
they make it so they save more
It’s basically a giant “fuck you” to the people who can’t afford hybrids
in the long run, but in terms for shorter time-frames, they lose a lot of money
and poorer demographics don't have the safety-nets to afford short-term losses
Mild hybrid rt
is mild hybrid mean low range hybrid?
Does it have a charger
which is kind of the dumb thing, because there will always be energy-losses during conversion
So it has a more powerful starter motor that gives more punch while starting
if he gets another s class it will be a plug in because the only one they sell in malaysia is locally assembled S580e
Theoretically its a good idea makes the power delivery smoother adds more mpg etc but yea
in practice you're limited with engine space, weight, etc
design-wise it's more useful to have a charger
I mean if u really care dont buy a boat lol
hahahahahahah
Its like saying my bullets have antiseptic coating on them
true
Oh yes, Toyota is the number 1 car seller in the world.
tbh i dont get the hate for diesel, they are much more efficient than petrol?
People dont consider the environmental damage in manufacturing
The 2-3 real world mpg gain of a hybrid comes at increased manufacturing costs to the environment that will take hundreds of thousands of miles to negate
i think people care about the price more
Yes and diesel engine components are also stronger than petrol engine components so if I'm not mistaken, the former can last longer than the petrol engine before requiring maintenance, but diesel engine components are more expensive than petrol engine components which is why diesel vehicles are more expensive to maintain and repair than petrol vehicles, especially that virtually all diesel engines are turbocharged nowadays
Diesel has like 2000 times more particulate matter (soot) so it appears to be more smoky
Tbf ships use refinery oil engines that is like a million times more harmful but we only care about the most common culprit that the customer uses, right
Pass the savings (and the blame) on to the consumer
I prefer petrol because of higher hp
Me too tho
I prefer petrol because that's practically all that's available here outside of big pickup trucks
here it isnt really a choice its hard to get diesel for passenger car
not to mention the double road tax
thats why government is banning diesel in 2025 and petrol in 2030
diesel-electric, petrol-electric not banned, vehicles registered before the ban can still renew COE, vintage vehicles not affected
It's a shame that we have to rely on Fortuner because Land Cruiser and Land Cruiser Prados are way too expensive here, at BMW level in the USA
I want either one of LC
Someone claimed that the car rental company he's working in has become a regular in a repair shop because of their Ford Expeditions... are those really unreliable?
I'd assume the diesel ban doesn't affect commercial vehicles?
ofc
only cars and taxi
We've gotten diesel pollution outputs down to pretty absurdly low numbers compared to 30 years ago
I'm not sure if California's gas ban affects commercial vehicles
If it does then California is suddenly going to have a lack of supply of absolutely fucking everything
Depends on where, different places view diesel differently
I say different places but I mostly mean the US lmao
We view diesel in a different light to most of the world
Ye but they don't care
Yeah
I believe a newish truck (2016+) puts out like 90% less then a truck made in the 70s
90 PERCENT!!
Aah im more disappointed at the weight
3800 pounds
Thats m4 territory
With awd it will even reach m550i size
i always wonder why bmw still have those squarish headlights
its not like as nice looking if you get what i mean
I hate it

why... just why
I genuinely have no idea
what tf is this
It's right hand drive left side of the road driving there?
Here too
Rip
I hate right hand drive I'm just notnused to it and after all this time I probably couldn't get used to it
Tbf it makes sense
You are closer to the center of the road like that
Or you should be left hand drive right lane
I'm in the US
So that way
jaydeeyem
One's an old Evo, one's a civic of some sort
Hm I've seen that before somewhere
wtf
we drive on the left side steering wheel on the right
like this
That is the yamaha niken
Weird Japanese Tech
motorbike mk II
can't wait for my honda monkey!!
gonna be an original one, not 1 of those new versions
@kind osprey
the weird batch is the cycle&carriage badge, the greedy authorised dealer
the ones bought from importers that are cheaper because they arent that greedy dont have that
I mean, it might be?

“S-class meback”
Yea a lot of people say may-back
I wish I knew why
It's my-bach
Like bock
It’s very triggering
Indeed
It’s like the people that pronounce the L in “gallardo”
There's actually been debate around it, I heard Lamborghini say it with the L before I have no clue what to believe. So we'd have to look at the language dialect and pick it apart from there
But I'm too lazy to
Because two l's does sound like y but it might not in certain contexts I guess
I do this about once a year now, play for a few days and delete it again a month later 😅
Same
I feel like i better appreciate the cars and details each time
This time I'm not gonna tune my cars
how?
oh wait i thought right-right
tbf L is acceptable depending on the dialect
in spanish, you often don't pronounce the double L. In italian, you do
so the debate is whether you pronounce the spanish name for an italian car in spanish or in italian
and tbh I think the people at lambo probably say it in italian
I was sounding it out for people who may not know how
Ch typically doesn't make that sound here
So I said bock for familiarity

The Tesla Semi has set the goal of disrupting long haul transportation in the United States. The truck was ...
Yay e24 da best
I love this car
i say it that way too
now you know to fix it 👍
in the city its not hard to find such expensive cars
here its almost impossible to find
the better ones are just C or E class
never seen one in my life yet tho
saw a Phantom before at Marina Bay Sands
nice
LOL
Isn't Defender reliable?
fr

Oh, I was thinking of the old Defender...
Oh well, I've seen a conversation here about UK car brands having reliability issues so even the old Defender would be unreliable
Land Rover is known for their issues
They come heavy hard and expensive
And they can happen at any momen
That's why I wouldn't take a Land Rover for off-roading
I don't want to have such expensive vehicle only for it to be tipped over
Infiniti g35 owners with these goofy ahh headlights
Oh my, the cheapest Land Cruiser here costs ₱ 5,210,000
What currency is that
Philippine peso
142,476.90 AUD
A Ford Explorer is a better choice here since it only costs 81,985.75 AUD
SGD 126,076
the car tax isnt that bad in philippines
here its SGD 331,888
Except they have no good reason to implement such taxes
there isnt terrible traffic jam?
Yeah, there is a terrible traffic jam but high taxation on cars is proven not to work. Besides, what do they expect, we should ride on junk transport?
Besides, there are real solutions to solve our terrible traffic jam
how does it not work?
it works quite decently and even better when people’s income are low
or that its not enough
Besides, Philippines is huge compared to Singapore
public transport exists
Jeepney? No thanks
whats that
Jeepneys (Tagalog: [ˈdʒɪpni]), sometimes called jeeps (Tagalog: [ˈdʒɪp]), are minibus-like public utility vehicles, serving as the most popular means of public transportation in the Philippines. They are known for their crowded seating and kitsch decorations, which have become a widespread symbol of Philippine culture and art. A Sarao jeepney wa...
I ride it only when absolutely necessary
India has a stupid sub 4 meter taxation rule
So small cars are even cheaper which sounds good but just increases congestion
If they had an over 5m rule then cars would be bigger, safer and people will take them out less
No seatbelt, ww2 era relic which can break down anytime, Euro 0 compliant engine, very sturdy chassis which can be more dangerous in crashes
and then high taxation on luxury cars
the people on luxury car can afford these taxes, wouldn’t really stop them
if you make cars so cheap for the poor they won’t care…
Afaik, the reason why modern vehicle chassis are not as sturdy as classic cars is to increase survival chances of persons on board in case of crashes
they should give them equal taxation and encourage public transport use
Full imports are like 200% taxes so basically companies only assemble top selling crossovers
- many buses dont have seatbelt, i dont think it’s mandatory
- why the fuck do you care about emissions standards on buses, they will still be not environmentally friendly whether you ride them or not
fuck import tax tbh
india government is a disgrace for having such crazy import tax
Naah busses do help
Like one bus is the equivalent of 30 cars min
But these jeepneys are fucking subpar in emission standards and you want people to inhale these black smokes?
wdym i never talked about buses not helping or what
they release it from the back you wont smell it
you sitting on it or not doesn’t change the fact that it is not friendly to the environment
Well if people do sit in it then they won't be driving
why would they want to own a car with car tax especially if they are so poor
here basically all the people that are lower class they take public transportation
Everyone would have a car if they can
Oh yes, true, they release it from the back so jeepneys and open vehicles at the back won't get affected, that's right.
well they get affected
but not you
and how does you being onboard or not affect the emission standard
I don't understand the question, but remember, these vehicles follow primitive emission standard and these are open air and there are many of these on the road.
meaning how does the emission standard of the bus change your decision to take the bus or not
that bus is still going to operate and pollute the environment a lot, with or without you onboard
Bus or these jeepneys? I don't think this is a legit bus. I won't take this because I don't want to smell their black smokes, that's my point.
jeepneys, they are basically open air small buses/large van
yes but you will not smell it
its only the people behind it that will smell
Even if there's no specific smell, we still inhale it regardless though
hmm that’s true
but then
i dont think health is the first priority when a person is a low income
cars are expensive
Wait, what?
if i am low income i would care about the money saved by taking it instead of a car
True but that doesn't mean we should allow it tho
Our versions of jeepneys, the tuk tuks are getting converted to electric and cng for the same reasons
Remember, taxes here are high so we deserve better public transportation
well i think buses make more sense
the city is poorly designed
and its not that simple to just dig some holes
The solution I always say is decentralize, almost everything is too centralized in the capital region, I bet more than half of the population in the capital region don't even live there, they just work and go back to the provinces during weekends
malaysians here do a similar thing
those in Johor especially
drive their malaysian car to singapore then work then leave
although some things are like 2 times cheaper, some things (eg. iPhones, PC, starbucks) are the same price as Singapore
and they earn like 3 times lesser

The N stands for nutsack

saw one of these
pretty much, but seeing this particular Lexus is
or those pre-LFA generation Lexuses
im in the orchard area
i just saw a 911 and taycan next to each other
Nice
I saw a fair bit of Porsche’s here in Brussels
Macan’s, Taycan’s, Cayenne’s, even a few Cayman’s
thats orchard the rich private condominium area
we are visiting my dad’s friend
he lives rhere
Cool
this is how it looks like during christmas
in just a few weeks singapore will turn from beautiful to extremely beautiful due to christmas
Always nice
favourite time of the year is christmas
the vibe is always great and the decoration effort here is superb
even though we are multi religious
That does look stunning ngl
the christmas decorations on the cruise ship i went last year
i love stunning christmas decorations
Oooo
fancy
Porsche 911 GT3 RS is the new N/A king of the ring.
But how about Chevrolet Corvette C8 and Ford GT?
https://www.autoindustriya.com/auto-industry-news/2023-porsche-911-gt3-rs-is-new-n-a-king-of-the-ring.html
As far as I’m concerned the ford GT isn’t N/A
Also the C8 is nowhere close to the GT3 RS’ lap time
Meh idk i don't like the rs
Looks too tacky
Like mansory modded it or something
The gt3 is nice to look at tho
Oh wow, so the RS has better handling than the C8?
Probably
C8 has a glorious engine tho
I'd probably take the z06 without the zo7 kit
Better road car
What do you think
Probably but both are glorious cars.
I never liked the gt3 (rs)
looks cool
but I prefer 4/awd and a turbocharged engine
like the gt2 (rs)
just reminds me of purposefully avoided potential
of course it's a niche car for specific drivers, who prefer rwd
The corvette and mustang have 0 on a flagship Porsche gt car
Those are different universes
Of course it does, the c8 isn’t an amazing handling car
It’s an American vehicle from gm lmao
It’s $60,000-$90,000 because the car is cheaply made and looks cool on the outside
The gt3 rs doesn’t do as well in straights as other flagship 911 Porsche’s. It has a ridiculous amount of downforce and so much air manipulation all over the place which makes it the fastest on a windy track but in a straight line it won’t be as good
That's why a Corvette and even a Viper wouldn't really beat a Porsche 911 GT3 RS in Nurburgring unless the Porsche driver is bad
percyy
Dodge Viper ACR Extreme would like to have a chat with you
I want that rear wing as a coffee table
the acr would ironically be better if it wasn't a viper
a small i4 or v6 4wd would've worked better
nonetheless a beautiful car
on the outside
It's V10 is it's defining feature, so
yeah I know, hence the irony
it looks almost like nj
Yea it's at New Dorp, the area is suburbs golf courses and parks and stuff
That Porsche starting up sounded so good in person
I got there late but my friend sent me some photos from when the show was at its peak
Look at this senior citizen
I love how the cars from the 30's are swoopier than cars from 50 years later lmao
Wow
oo ok, still so nice
Damn that panthera and 993
Beautiful
992s are nice but a 993 turbo is just porn
Yea and it was loud
like a lot louder in person than I was expecting there was definitely something done to that 993
is that some expensive customised license plate
here we are not allowed to customise the license plate number unfortunately
most expensive license plate ever sold here
it was auctioned off for SGD 335,000
I hate people who pay a lot fpr custom plates
Same way i hate people who pay a lot for socks or phonecases
Verasche socks, 18 carat gold phone case, but workin at Target

It's to mimic a historic plate from the 30's it's not a real plate
New york license plate look like this
historic plates from the 60's and early 70's looked like this
they look hella nice
custom license plates are like
the registration fee here
like
$50
lmao
I saw a lot of them in Belgium
they are finally installing cameras in the NYC metro cars
New reality show now?

lmao what
only just now?
no 1 digit?
so everyone has a custom license plate number in australia because its only $50?
imo should be more than that
No lmao
it's like
not even 10% of cars
less even
for every 50 cars i see with standard license there's one with custom
there's no real need for vanity/custom plates
basically no one has them
why bruh
oh nvm, $550
can you put any number or letters you want
i would still pay for it
if i can afford it
and the number i want is available
within reason, yes, like you can't just go putting fuck off on your plates
can you put 1 digit
like can i put 1
as license plate no.
how about S 1
likely
ikr haha
wtf lmao. trains here have had them for like a decade plus
this is how outdated NYC is
we used the same metro card from the 70s i think
they recently updated that
wtf
It's not really like that here because you don't own your license plates in the US, they are Department of Transportation property. License plates that are low are mostly reserved for government officials and stuff like that.
My friends dad has a plate that is a low two digit number
on a little 90's car that's half broken down lol
just sitting there
That plate in Dubai would be worth $200,000
here we own it
its basically ours
we can sell, buy
classic BMW
looks like its used for a ferrari now

Pontiac V8 swapped 911
mfw
i love 911
It's a 996. OE engine probably shit itself.
isnt a 996 a type of 911 too
yeah, it's a generation
992, 993, 996, etc
Common American L
Ok I love GM V8s but why
Even I don't know about that one, chief

this makes soo much sense now fowk
like a whole new world opened up to me bout 911s
don't worry, the numbers of the gens make no sense whatsoever
Nice

Saving this
The jeep is gonna make one mistake on the road and wrangle the bike
been looking at getting my second car, which in my own terms, has to be a classic, there are some options but not much in my budget, its either old civics, corollas, volvo bricks, or mercs
what if I get myself a W123 merc? are those alright to maintain and drive around?
Get an old Civic/Corolla or Accord/Camry
Cheap to maintain and good reliability
there are a few gen1 civic hatchbacks around, if those are better overall than the w123 I might give that a spin, just thought having an old merc might be cool heh
Old mercs are unreliable tho
There will be a point when repair costs will be more than the value of ur car
💀
always thought the w123 regarded by the internet as being indestructible

Post 80s mercs are unreliable ye
In 93 mercedes came up with a brilliant idea of biodegradable wiring
from what I understand these ol mercs are good with regular maintenance, until something big happens
perhaps I should just stick to ol japanese cars or a volvo
If you want a merc just buy an e class diesel
They're used as taxis in Germany, so they have a very long lifetime
Generally if you buy German, you should probably buy diesel
just get a used c/e class
if you care a lot about reliability used lexus/camry
rip we dont sell diesel here
only ways is importers
but the road tax is more than double
e class petrol vs diesel
Based
Nah but after dieselgate all the German cars got fuckin DPF
RR went four eyes
If they really did they'd stop shipping stuff like clothes which could be made locally
Nobody talks about the environmental damage MNCs do but if you have an ice car you're accused of choking baby seals
I have a few choices to choose from now, a mk1 honda civic, a mini, or maybe the w123 merc, though its not likely
Hmm
If the civic isn't riced id say go that way
I wish it was a sedan, but the 300k price tag really is the deal breaker
I looked a lil, most first / second gen civics are relatively stock or just very light mods, seems like the choice to go
What the fuck is that C-pillar

Blindspot finna be camaro-tier
They made such a superb concept 6 years ago I really wished they just used this
Man that thing is sexy
wheres the EV phantom
As much I hate this horizontal light split trend, it looks a lot more tolerable on this than it does on that shitty electric 7 series
Cyberpunk corporate car
True
Also the car is gonna be around $300,000 because Cadillac is finally making bespoke cars that are true luxury vehicles and not reskinned Chevy's with this one
They will have a car to compete with Bentley and Rolls Royce for the first time since prior to World War II
Yea but the brand is changing so many times now i don't know what to believe
Bespoke luxury to affordable luxury to old man car to sports luxury to whatever this is
That's the only Cadillac I could ever see myself buying, the ct6 blackwing with the beautiful blue
Noice
Carbon everywhere
Wtf is going on here
I found this thing for 7,5k€
With 156tkm
4 motion may be no quattro but
I kinda like it? Just why would you write Passat on your Phaeton 😭
When you try to link a car and the bot has an aneurism 😒
idk
phaeton's also the worst purchase you'll ever make
and that also looks like the diesel model
Yea those cars are cheap for a reason
They're bad? I've been looking at reviews and I've seen 90% good ones
And yes, diesel. I'd prefer that due to their longer lifetime
not bad, but expensive
many phaeton parts are high-end, meaning that the maintenance is significantly more expensive than a passat that uses golf/polo parts
Ohhh
and the fuel economy is disastrous too
I mean yeah I'm aware of that
It's a luxury car after all
Those are awful with that
Yeah makes sensr
I would go onto a car forum and ask around
Ye, I read on some forums
most people are quite fond of the phaeton, but everyone agrees that maintenance costs more than the car itself after 3-5 years
I see...
All Volkswagens ngl
They are horrible used cars, unless you are a teenager with a golf gti
Then it's fine
You learn
My condolences
Oh so I guess you're just lucky lol
Vw maintenance parts are a fortune compared to other economy brands
Might as well own the Audi
I mean ig they're just easier to get in germany?
Oh you live in Germany?
Yeah
I mean the golf 3 my mom drives
If somethings broken, it never takes long or much to fix
And my dad's cars have been with him for a while, used to have a passat till it got into an accident
Thing is I don't mind sharing the car with her
But im lookin for something nice for my own
Do you guys need to plug your diesels in during the winter too
Plug them in...?
Just trucks then ig
Over here in the winter, diesel vehicles need to be plugged in during the winter so they can start/work
Where are you from again?
I say diesel "vehicles" but I'm in the US so 99% of the time that means trucks
Are diesel cars rare in the US?
Yes
There's kind of a stigma against them
Plus gasoline has pretty much always been cheaper than diesel
Here people love to act like the government wants to ban them
Diesel will freeze and crack quicker than you can say "hey there's snow on the roof"
And here diesel has been cheaper till the ukraine-russia thing started
Now they're p much the same price
I guess passenger cars have their own block heaters/don't need them?
Diesel used to be like 1,30€/l
Now it's 2€/l
Diesel costs a full dollar or two a gallon more than premium octane petrol here, and diesel has downsides so it's completely only for trucks that need it here
While petrol only got like 10 cents more expensive
Bruh wtf
There's a diesel BMW in my dorm parking lot, but that isn't plugged in during the morning, unlike the multiple powerstroke and Duramax trucks here
(Powerstroke is Ford's diesel truck division, Duramax is GM's)
You only need to worry about diesel freeezing when it's extremely cold, but gas lasts a lot better in freezing temps
Yeah thing is
I never think I even saw that on a car
But it's also not super cold here
Which baffles me to no end as to why organizations like Arctic trucks tend to like diesel engines
The word truck probably has a lot to do with it
What, do trucks in Europe not have petrol engines as options
Probably has something to do with the massive fucking tires they put on those bishes
It's around 40 degrees F here
Noice
Diesel won't gel until like 10F or smth
Another 911, carrera t
Apparently this is the gts with the base engine, 20-30k cheaper
Honestly I'd still prefer a carrera s tho
All that removal of sound deadening and thinner glass and still its less than 100 pounds lighter
I'd rather have a more refined car for the street
i mean diesel can go longer range
with the same amount
here mainly buses, taxis, large vehicles use diesel
due to the high road tax
im in love with 911
tho i would rather get a taycan

Taycan is great but if I had to choose one or the other it would be the car with the engine 110%
The 911 is an icon
whats the real power difference
I wouldn't care in the slightest
why tho
the price is also a huge concern especially when they are making it even more expensive here in this little island
The 911 is a piece of history, and a beautiful untouched silhouette for almost 60 years
na flat 6 cylinder sounds great
it comes in manual
it checks every box
Taycan is SGD 351,958
911 Carrera is SGD 501,188
holy shit
without COE
i dont exactly fully support COE
because like
even if you only drive it on weekends its still such a high price
i mean you can register your vehicle as ROPC that basically limits your usage hours but that is just a SGD 17,000 rebate and SGD 500 discount on road tax that is irrelevant for such an expensive vehicle
there is literally only 10K+ red plate cars on the road now
in the past there was 50K+
it just sounds like a horrible deal with today’s COE prices
24 trims... of the same model of car
dude the price we pay for like an altis is actually enough for a 911 in US?
Well if it costs $106,000 there, then yes
also, electric is cheaper than petrol
i hate the 718 interior
theres a COE bidding this afternoon so im interested in the results
here the only porsche i see are mainly the cayenne
and where i live currently, which is a public housing town due to school reasons, the cars seen are usually japanese cars, sometimes you will see a C class or a old E class (probably used car), however my new neighbour drives a yellow lamborghini
if you ever see some very nice vehicles enter a public housing carpark their car is officially worth more than their house
some rich people here buy resale public housing because even if they are rich they are still qualified to buy resale
probably because private is too expensive
and in the richer people neighbourhoods, its mainly dominated by german cars, usually E class, and then the porsche and lamborghini are more commonly seen there
A base lamborghini there must be like $400,000
man if it costed $400k everyone will be rushing to buy
damn he must really like cars if he lives in a government provided neighborhood and drives that
which model is it?
the cheapest one is SGD 798K without COE
I was assuming it was a Gallardo and those go for like $100,000-$200,000 here so there if they cost triple that then convert it into S$
well i mean i asked him before and he said private condos here are not worth the money to him, and public housing is good for use as investment as well, and he values a good car more than a good house
i think thats strange but up to him ig
I value a good car collection over a giant overzealous house ngl, but the only reason why I would choose a $600,000 home over a $600,000 car is because homes are a stable asset that provide a lot of utility
Cars that are very exotic and rare can go up in value or at least hold their value very well, but cars are a depreciating liability 90% of the time
they are toys
private condos here arent bigger
in fact they are usually smaller
by around 10%
So what makes it worth it to live in a high rise not much different than the default housing? Especially if you get less room
public housing is a good investment tho, some people are making 100% or more profit from it after just a few years
- Investment
- Lesser regulations
- Social status (nearly 80% live in public housing)
- More facilities
- Nicer looking
💀
India too we have 200% tax 911 s is like 250k

But imported cars only have that tax
Not all cars per se
Shit like a honda hrv is cheaper
Makes sense that a Honda is cheaper
So manufacturers assemble some luxury cars here, which is still taxed like 80% but better than import
So this means we only have shit that sells ie crossovers
I see a lot of then over here in western Europe obviously
I mentioned those two specifically because their parent company is Tata
True but there isn't a whole lot of them them
Jaguar still doesn't have the presence the germans have
Tata is Indian yeah
Ye
How about Mahindra?
is Jaguar good
It's not too bad
Reliability wise no
mid range like Alfa
with that price i rather get a benz or porsche
Thats what most people do
i rarely see a juguar
Audis are about the same price as the benz or bmw so people take that over a jag
here benz is the most common European brand here
Their mcb architecture means they can build manufacturing plants easily
So they really undercut the other two in india
Also big grille crossovers
So they sell
lol
i think BMW has some issues with their design recently
what in the world
is the new cars design

Not just bmws
If only Lexus was assembled locally and not imported💀
Oh yea outsiders can't believe lexus overcuts the germans
i don’t really like lexus
benz price but not as good as a benz
but ig if you want a reliable luxury car then lexus
And now they're shooting themselves in the foot with the hybrid shit
even benz now aren’t as good
which idiot thinks it was okay to basically make all the cars almost the same looking
Here audis are cheaper than benz and mostly on the same level as bmw
I think its their family look policy
Mercs always looked same across the range in about 2008-14 u could tell them apart but then they became homogeneous again
True, even i struggle sometimes with differentiating between C and E class Merc’s
here depends who you get it from
its the size
i can differentiate them
E class are usually kinda long, at least to me
here the most common benz coupes is CLA
I mean car guys can tell between even trim levels
I'm talking about the general population
im not that level yet
Mercedes guys*
mercedes is the best
Meh
i mean i like them still but no longer as much
did they fire half of the design team because every single model is nearly the same rn
I really wish they didn't focus on screens
man i love the screens
but
at the same time, i wish they have more physical buttons as well
Screens always get outdated after 5 years
its fucking dangerous
for a driver to be looking at the screen
unless there is autopilot enabled
The eqs already has reports of hyperscreen failure
i saw the videos
the screens are lagging
tbh why dont they just get display companies to do it for em
why do they want to do it themselves and put laggy screens in a $100k car
its gross imo
Imagine after 5 years you can't drive ur car because someone spilled coffee on the screen
go for the overpriced screen replacement
