Is renting that expensive?
Doesn't that have like 850 horsepower
Or is it 900
750ish afaik
Stock, yes
unless they upgraded the Hertz models
I think the 900hp only existed in Need For Speed movie
@proper elbow
And oh my, the new Corvette here costs $184,120.68. It's a great vehicle and must have for performance car collectors
oh
Oh wow, they turned the 900hp Mustang into a reality
Yeahđ

Yeah so I parked it outside of the mall and when I came out it was just gone!
I don't think they track every second of every day
I will construct a large faraday cage
That wouldn't do the battery any favors
Just put a nerve agent under the seat that goes off if the car starts without the key
Some people suggested to put range on push start/stop ignition equipped cars
That if they go out of keyfob's range, the car will just stop
But I think that will cause dangers
My mom's Durango has that
The car won't start if the key fob isn't in the car iirc
Either that or the car doesn't move
Don't remember which
I see
Although their point is if the car was started and driven away illegally by use of range extenders, if the car is 20 miles away from the keyfob, then the car will suddenly stop
Same on my Mazda. Can't start it. It'll keep driving though if it's already running - just beeps constantly
Why 20? Why not a half mile?
I think that's just an example
Ah
But what I like about keyswitch ignition is the immobilizer actually works
One GTA incident was foiled here in Ph because the carjackers couldn't start the car with keyswitch ignition and immobilizer because the car was immobilized
Don't kias and Hyundais not have immobilizers?
I'm not sure but that car was a Toyota
And gosh, here, Ford detuned the Endeavor and Ranger's 2.0L turbocharged engine a little
How much do they make
The 2.0 Biturbocharged of the new one has 207hp and 500Nm torque. The torque is same but it has less 3 from the outgoing version
And the 2.0L single turbo version got downgraded from 178hp to 168hp and from 420Nm torque to 405Nm torque
Oof
My 2.0 Turbo from my maverick makes around 250hp
Not sure why they don't just use that
Petrol?
Yes
I'm in the US
American companies don't really do small diesel engines for regular passenger vehicles
For the american market I mean
Oh, I'm talking about the Ford Endeavor's 2.0L diesel engine, for both bi-turbo and single turbo
Now, many people here in Ph would probably prefer petrol engines over diesel engines because diesel fuel has become even more expensive than petrol fuel than months ago
But it's good so that petrol powered vehicles will have even more chances of competing in the industry
Take notes California
https://www.aeaweb.org/research/electric-transition-banning-gasoline-vehicles
We need to make utility and boring vehicles electric first
Bugattis and Paganis are not hurting the environment
There are less than 1000 of them combined
Modern cars spew out 1% of the shit they did in the 60s
Pretty much
Plus every Tesla battery made pollutes more then a new car does its first year or two of driving
According to the Germans
Depending on kilowatt per hour, it could be up to 5 or 6 years of owning the car before it evens out to neutral ti the environment
Ask me for the source
Like a nissan leaf will take two years but a model x will take double if not more
I fucking dare you (rhetorical)
The source is I made it the fuck up

I'm literally doing a college essay on this shit, so
Nice
If you are shipping batteries from China, electronics from Japan, Steel from Germany for your bmw ix, no its worse for the environment
Well to wheel analysis of BEVs has to be conducted I'm pretty sure a 5yr old corolla does lesser damage to the next 100,000 miles than upgrading to the latest and greatest EV
Electric cars are like how apple removed the phone charger to "protect the environment"
In reality, all they did that they shifted their environmental impact on you or other companies while making it worse.
No one cares about the environment, they only pretend when they wanna make money, A LOT of MONEY.
ngl new Mustang is hot
love how Dodge is going electric for their flagship cars, while Ford Straight up said "You can rev your engine from your keyfob lmao"
If the EVs remain unchanged while all ICEs, including hybrids, get phased out, I can imagine this meme becoming a reality...
If this is true, then this gives an impression that phasing out ICEs to save the environment is like not treating a symptom instead of cause. Besides, many power generators still use oil and gas so those will still provide emissions, especially if they will still use gas or diesel power generators to charge EV batteries.
Sometimes the most obvious culprit isn't the biggest one
Modern clothing, plastics, cosmetics etc are all petrochemical based industries
Besides, EV fires may be rarer but more dangerous
That will be so bad since EV fires are harder to extinguish than ICE vehicle fires
Also i hate the fact that mobile phones are integrated now
wdym by that?
You'll have to buy a new phone when the battery dies out
There was a time when we could use a phone or a laptop for 5 years easy
I dont think even apps support that nowadays
Slowly forcing you to buy e waste over and over
i mean if an App doesn't work on a version of a phone, then thats the app developers issue
Ya
im also confused on what you meant by "hate the fact that mobile phones are integrated now"
oh, i though you were talking about in terms of Cars
i dont see the issue with that personally tho, i have never had a need to remove the battery from my phone or any laptop
i mean Tesla has big issues with people fixing their own cars but its Tesla so if you buy one thats on your dumbass
I'll continue to say what I think about phones and gadgets in #tech-coding-math
That's because well the tesla buying demographic is...well
Teslas are the new Fuckboy/Basic bitch car
like before every douchebag and generic girl bought BMWs now its Tesla
Tesla might become the EV version of BMW
it practically is
They have as much personality as the same people who drive them
and the ones who "Customize them" just but on the ugly matte purple wrap
Not to mention Tesla intrudes in your privacy
like sorry this color on your car doesn't make it cool
Looks mismatched
i googled Generic Tesla wrap and found this
Aah yes oil on water wraps
its an alright looking color just nothing interesting
I used to like chameleon colors
Then I became 7
Probably not for you, but right to repair is a big issue both for here and #tech-coding-math
What happened to DIY repairs for cars then?
Spotted a vrs octavia
The mercedes s class owner was confused why i took pic of a skoda over his douchemobile
I'm surprised that the Glickenhaus 007S is not here, Jim said that it will be priced around $2 million.
https://www.msn.com/en-ph/news/other/the-most-expensive-cars-in-the-world/ss-AA11Rab0?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=59f8daf9a41344eab39714dde652bbcc
2 mill is chump change now
People modding irl
Some cars in that list are below $1 million though
Idk why anyone in an s class would think someone is taking a picture of their car like it is anything interesting
An s class is a beautiful car but it's common and not anything exotic
Not picture worthy

None of these lists are ever accurate and even if they are they are missing a ton of vehicles and skipping around
I just looked through that list, it's like the rest of them, outdated and skipping a shit ton of cars. They show a lot of new cars and what they went for when the car came out. If it said "list of the most expensive modern cars" that would make sense
But they showed a Ferrari from 1962
So now they are bringing in old cars
There are a lot of old cars that sell for tens of millions of dollars
There are very few new cars that do that
It is basically only Pagani Bugatti and Rolls Royce that do that and they are bespoke one off or three off vehicles
Yea and there are also cars that never sold
For example the Mercedes 300slr before it did sell
True
It was estimated at $300,000,000
Because it literally never sold Because there was only 1 in the world to sell
When it did it was the first 9 figure car to ever sell
I'm sure there's a hispano suiza in a barn somewhere worth more than my state's gdp
There are a handful of cars that can sell for $100,000,000 or more
Aah like modern art classic cars are overpriced now by rich assholes
Well they are expensive because of simple supply and demand. Back then when these cars were racing you would have to be a true enthusiast to even know these cars existed. Nowadays everyone has basic common knowledge that old car they only made 5 of fromna brand that doesn't exist anymore will cost a lot
You could buy a 250gto for $35000 in the late 1960's
Cars rarely went for even a million dollars up until recently
In the 80's it was unheard of
Yea all that are true but like art the reason why classic cars have skyrocketed in price is because tax
I don't think it is the same metric. It has similar benefits as art but the value is determined by the enthusiasts more than simple tax deductions. The price of a vehicle is a lot less subjective than a piece of abstract art
Art can be expensive just because of who made it
Cars have to be through something to become expensive
Oi some dude sold a banana taped to a wall for 125 mill
A Ford GT40 that raced and won Lemans will go for a lot more than a gt40 that was only used as a test car
Enthusiasts buy these for nostalgic purposes and heritage
A 6 year old sees an Aston Martin le mans car in 1958, he wants one and later in life owns a successful company and buys one that raced. As time goes on more and more enthusiasts will flock towards that car because it is a true piece of history and as time ages that car like fine wine more and more people will want it, and other examples of the car will die out and rot in barns
This is all cars not just 60's race cars, look at the jdm bubble where r34 gtrs will go for $250,000
The value is not worth $250,000 but these people growing up with the car feel nostalgia and the heritage behind it
Same process, different generation
Yea true
Since many people who believe that Miles should've won the Le Mans '66, the Ford GT40 that he drove in that race is most likely very expensive.
It's expensive solely because he drove it
And the movie definitely helped the recognition of Miles that he deserved
He really got cucked out of the winner title
According to Shelby, the technicality which the car drove the farther distance wins in case of a tie didn't exist in Le Mans rule when Miles raced, they just added it later
well there's 2 I think
of the uhlenhaut coupe
there's one in circulation (the one bought) and one in AMGs storage
obviously, they'll never sell their most iconic car
aside from moss' slr
and perhaps the c9 and 11
I really need a Mustang
Sure the interior went the screen route, exterior doesn't look all that 2024 but hey
V8 manual
had a Mustang once. it was alright during dry weather. wasnât great in the rain. wouldnât buy another, for a daily driver.
Y'all ever heard a straight piped coyote V8?
Those things are a special kind of loud

GT 400...?
ISTG cars turbo stock from factory get way to much hype, and people are willing to 10k Extra for a turboed version
Most of our performance cars are designed for natural aspiration anyway
Well, sports cars
Which dark souls boss is this
Turboâs cost a lot
Itâs usually not $10,000 more on a normal vehicle
But I guess for more higher end cars it can go that much or well over

Here it is
Like Doug says
It's design is more evolutionary then revolutionary
Looks like itâs still based on the this generation of the mustang that got announced in⊠2014?
The interior is by far the biggest improvement from the s550
Yep
I'm not sure about everyone else here but I like the design
I hate to say it, but stick shift doesnât look very 2024 either
Issa joke
I like it too
Same
or if I want a sedan
Not sure about the handling of the mustang
A charger
But the 6th gen Camaro's handling is spectacular
Allegedly
I can't wait to hear the mustang without any mufflers or cats
It sounds like the coyote, based on what it sounded like when Doug revved it
What is this

I dont mind the exterior tbh
The taillights are a bit too orange but thats okay
The interior screen situation could've been better the 2 mercedes screens already look dated
But hey its still manual v8 so cant complain

Sounds like shit
on off peak grab is quite cheap
but if you take grab during peak hours like at night people come home from club no public transport available the price will go up like crazy due to supply and demand
4k grand for a turbo racing kit, Kia stinger with turbo is like 9 and a half grand extra
damn
sounds like an ebay turbo kit
you dont put a 4k turbo kit on a 50k car
plus there is usually much more to the performance trim than just a turbo or w/e is done to the engine
in the case of the stinger it's an entirely different/larger engine
may as well compare a base v6 mustang to a gt

Seen that video, there were no comments talking about something else, only that
Garrett turbo kit actually, and yes most times factory Turboed cars have higher psi capability, bigger bore. I also understand that the engines are bigger but in cases like a velostner N its the same factory engine with a bov, intercooler, turbo and some piping slapped on. Oh that and an intake and an exhaust manifold

hi i have a question.. can a 97 cars run without ecu? .. i was having problems with tsp sensor â throttle sensor position â where it revs high by its own and giving me worse gas mileage ever.. so since i removed âecu fuseâ the car runs just fine
so im wondering if it will have any side affects running a car with no ecu
It's the closest thing to removing the brain
Unless your car has a carburetor you'll most likely need an ECU
Which it doesn't because it's from '97
You aren't supposed to leave the fuse out. Disconnecting the battery (and/or fuse) is a way to "reset" the ECU
Resetting ECU = resetting TPS (and any other sensor that's going haywire)
Assuming the sensor itself isn't physically damaged
yea .. i shouldnât have left the fuse out.. the car couldnât even start and had to remove the battery for couple of mins and now its back to normal
Just replace the sensor. It takes a few minutes to do
And they are cheap
If you're still having issues I mean
mmmm

While working on wrapping this Dodge Viper, I was checking out all the vents and ducts and they are all functional. Some cars have vents that all all just decoration, but the Viper, all the vents are active and functional. Nope, the spelling isnât wrong, Ariel is merely using the word differently, a contraction of âHigh Performance Carbon Reductionâ. So 'Hipercar'. Carbon emissions rather than carbon fibre. Thereâs a lot of the latter about, although underneath the chassis is aluminium and most of the body sections are weighty 3D-printed test panels. Itâs 1,759kg ...

I currently study in Amsterdam and my uni is located at the business centre
for the past few weeks I have not seen a single car drive by that's worth less than 70K eur
Swap the airbox with a performance filter for sound plus clean air lol
That would mean only new cars o.O
exactly, it's standard practice for rich people to buy new cars every 3 years
Out of curiosity, how many of those are SUV?
I'd say around 30-40%
SUVs aren't as popular here as in other european countries because of our infrastructure and vehicle taxes
an SUV is more expensive than its sedan or station equivalent
Infrastructure as in parking space?
yeah quite, there are a lot of trees covering parking spaces
plus they still use a lot of medieval/renaissance buildings
Well, there ain't enough space here as well, doesn't keep people from driving them and parking wherever sadly
yeah SUVs are the bane of my existence
I can respect pajero's or whatever toyota's that drive around
Even as someone that likes cars, there's generally too many of them in cities
So many of them being bloated shitboxes doesn't help lol
not the 220K G wagons or range rovers that perish when even the slightest of mud is on the road
The G Wagon used to be a respectable off-road vehicle
tbf being in one is nice, since you literally sit above everyone else
Now it's only AMG G Wagons
yeah back in the day, nowadays they just run red lights
I would use my bike more if the threat of severe injury or death wasn't that omnipresent đ€Ł
Aren't SUVs status symbols?
Cars generally can serve as that
move here instead
quite
driving in a big ass car can feel powerful
so to a certain degree it's also the self-perceived safety of the driver
eh
station wagons are typically longer than most cross-overs and use saloon platforms
Like for example, Rav4, CR-V
Honda Ph even dressed the CR-V so hard and they keep marketing it as competitor to Fortuner, Pajero/Montero Sport and Endeavor
Those SUVs are truck based SUVs while the CR-V is a sedan based SUV, they're like making apples and oranges compete against each other
eh nowadays it's a bit different
but SUVs often have dedicated platforms
cross-overs often use those from hatchbacks
and unless those platforms are from rally-bred machines, like impreza's, they're generally unfit for larger cars and off-roading all-together
most SUVs nowadays are unfit for their original purpose as well
say from some toyota's
Their original purpose is off-roading, right?
yeah
As long as a vehicle has AWD or 4WD, it can off-road
Hmmmm
A/4WD is a prerequisite, but not the sole criterium
you need a reliable and strong chassis as well
So a 4x4 Rav4 and CR-V can't do this kind of off-roading?

and a body that can easily mitigate dirt and debris
plus a drivetrain that can handle dynamic power allocation and resistance
I see
unless you upgrade them, no
they can handle puddles of water, though
What I want about full-time 4x4 or AWD is it's safer when driving through rain or flood since all wheels are powered
omw to offroad a 911 turbo S because its AWD
A lot of supercars are AWD these days

As much as this will reduce reliance on oil, I don't think this will be enough to save the planet

If the plan is to not rethink individual mobility and replace all of them with BEV no imho
Besides, solar panels and wind turbines are expensive and their baseload capacity is not that great so if they're gonna use gas or oil power plants to charge EVs, then the zero emission will be defeated
I can imagine this happening if all countries in the world suddenly go electric by 2030

"projected asking price of $150,000"

if im dropping anything past fucking 60k let alone 150k its not going to be a hyundai
looks like it's trying too hard to be from the 80's
an era when cars didn't look good and not far enough in to actually be aerodynamic
Is it just me or this car's design is similar with DeLorean?
why cant they just make it an electric and drop the hydrogen bs... i want a car that look like that so badddd
it is based on an old design they made
Maybe because they want to have a "cleaner" car without going full electric. I could be wrong
yes but axing it completely is not going to get them anything
and a cool design will die
I'm still interested with Lambo's proposal of synthetic fuel being a possible alternative to going electric

how about we work on actually fixing this planet by ways that can actually fix shit up?
I really don't know how can we but I'm certain that if renewables can't save the planet, then EVs can't.
We all know that Synthetic fuels will still be worse for the stupid trees then EVs will in the long run
Synthetic fuels is just a cope, really
Just so we can keep the internal combustion engine alive for a little bit longer before our Governments get uppity again
A holistic approach is needed, not just renewables or EVs
they're also not mutually exclusive
I think Toyota US said that fully transitioning to EVs will require changes in infrastructures too
Just keep the hyper cars and low productions gas it won't change a single spec
The dailies get to be electrified
Italy was really based with their proposition
I don't wanna see an announcement for an electric Bugatti/Pagani until every single mailtruck in the US is an ev
Mail trucks in the US are using shitty gm engines from 1974 that get 9mpg on a good day

So environmentalist can shove a stick up their ass if they wanna take my lamborghini away before they touch inefficient utility vehicles driving ten fold the amount of miles
I hate the logic of it

"The company also plans to sandwich an electric motor between the engine and transmission â an increasingly vital necessity for high-powered cars looking to meet tightening emissions regulations and anti-pollution laws."
Yea man, those couple hundred or so Huracans driving around are definitely an air pollution threat
This is the all-new Honda Civic!
The previous edition of the Civic was one of the most popular & recognisable family cars on the road. The question is, does the all-new edition offer enough to sway you away from a different family hatchback?
Well, letâs see whatâs on offer. In terms of the design, itâs markedly different to the previous mode...
I've driven more in my 2 liter turbo maverick in a month then most supercars/hypercars will drive in their lifetimes
nice F-15
The 10,000 Huracans being driven 1000-2000 miles a year are such a drastic impact, they literally kidnap baby seals and eat their eyeballs
But the 3,000,000 Toyota sedans that drive an average of 12,000 a year?
nah those can stay exactly how they are
not enough impact
only 3,000,000 which is a lot less than 14,000
No one actually give a shit about the environment

THANK YOU
Someone else sees the same sense that we do
Then why you still here?
kind of a harsh reply there
We should ban gas and diesel utility and government vehicles.
pagani's aren't ruining the environment, mailtrucks are
People who think 500 produced supercars that drive less than 1000 miles a year contribute to massive pollution
She isn't saying she hates the environment, she is saying that on the broader scale of things the government does not give a shit. Ev's are damaging to the environment too in reality the best way to reduce is to re use
consumerism and shiny object syndrome makes people think they need new cars every 3 years
An example of this. My friend is a nut with wanting to be environmentally clean, he is too young to be expected to buy or lease a brand new car but he wants to to find an electric one. I told him save your money and buy a used Toyota or Honda if you car about the environment and your wallet
because it took massive emissions to produce that new electric vehicle he is buying and it costs $35,000... so he might as well buy a used already fairly efficient vehicle for $5000, then buy an electric car later in life when he can actually afford one.
Most people do not consider reducing and re-using but they are the first and most important steps of the triangle
Reduce Reuse Recycle
agreed
it's better if we electrify the vehicles that are used in the long run, rather than the ones being rarely used

350 hp tho is probably a bit too much for a fwd
They even have a 440 hp City
wanna guess how much this fwd thing has?

cars are too expensive here
Singapore has the most expensive cars in the world
But hey, at least salaries there are high
and capitalistic low taxes government (if you ignore cars and housing)
literally i got so shocked when i saw america has 37% tax
here its like 22
I heard that one reason why many Singaporeans buy expensive cars like Jaguar or even Ferrari and Lambo is because the COE there is so expensive so they want to maximize the COE and it would be a waste to apply for COE just to buy a Hyundai or Foton
but we have cat A and B
cat A for these really bad cars
cat B for those 'normal' or ultra cars
Oh
So if you're gonna buy a Toyota Land Cruiser, you need cat B?
Or a Mitsubishi Pajero?
they used to have a few categories to properly differentiate cars, but the coe for smaller engine cars was more expensive than coe for bigger engine cars because coe is supply and demand and more middle/poor people as compared to rich
whats bhp and engine cc
more than 130 bhp / more than 1.6L = Cat B
I think the Land Cruiser has a 3.3 V6 twin-turbo engine
they used to not have the bhp requirement but german car manufactures started to have like 1.4L C class so they got mad and decided to put a horsepower limit so they will be Cat B
I guess midsized pickup like Ford Ranger will be Cat B
It has 2.0L turbodiesel engine
also mercedes are so expensive here from authorised reseller cycle and carriage because they are greedy af
parallel importers are so much cheaper
That's why it will be a waste to apply for Cat B just to get Ford Ranger, it wouldn't be worth the price unless you really need it
Oh my, that's really expensive
i see a lot of c class and entry level cat b on the street
that thinking is for the really rich kind of people
because we have ARF too
if we dont have ARF then the price difference in % for camry and rolls royce phantom would be a little lesser than other countries
Here in Ph, this is an example of a pricelist
https://toyota.com.ph/price-list
Yet the highest minimum wage here is only 13.12 SGD daily
this car is cat b
due to horsepower limit cat a cars are really shit
we have a cat A
everytime we go to malaysia and theres a slope

but for singapore its actually quite fine
how are the taxes
Taxes are high because of protectionism. Gadgets and electronics here are more expensive than in Singapore, same with internet.
we got our corolla altis for like SGD 130K in 2015
That's more expensive than a Toyota Land Cruiser 2015 here
I can't because I have to finish my training here yet
Are the $20,000 and $320,000 income are annual or monthly income?
annual obviously
Oh, here, the income or salaries are counted monthly
no capital gains tax too
Except the highest minimum wage which is daily
only issues are ABSD (huge tax when you buy additional properties), COE and ARF especially if you buy nicer cars
And btw, I'm afraid that the tax excise exemption on pickups here might be removed
rip#
once you get a decent degree escape and come to singapore
its just that the rent is pretty disturbing
like SGD 900/mo for a 10 sqm room in a HDB public housing unit
if you want the whole unit its minimum SGD 3,500/mo
They say that they removed excise taxes on pickups because businesses buy pickups for livelihood but they found out that buyers buy pickups as passenger vehicles. The person who proposed it said "this scheme allows manufacturers to circumvent the provision of the law and tax exemption"
there is no worries if you donât have a car tho, public transportation is excellent here, also taxi fares are very affordable here as compared to NYC
is ph socialist gov
That's what we need. People here defend the high taxation on cars so that people will be forced to take public transportation. Public transportation in Ph are public junks
why? i mean for singapore its needed but for ph your land is big asf
Because they think Philippines consists of the capital region ONLY
some people are complaining about the coe system but seriously its the only solution to country like singapore
and some broke people are like its disgusting because the price is market controlled and the poor cant drive cars
So everyone's coming to the capital region
like if you are BROKE just take public transport especially if its so good
and logically if theres only 1 COE left, its more logical to give it to a rich businessman rather than some broke worker
I can still afford to buy cars here but I don't want to for tax reasons
and besides you are moving soon anyways right
Yup
doubt you want to stay in philippines
That's the plan
where are you intending to move @old sedge
Monte carlo ss?
LS
Gonna make it like an SS though
Gonna have best of both worlds

Make it first then start talking about it lol

Promises, promises
rednecks reading this trying to read on how to make electricity
I see a Tesla on my island

or what Toyotas being affordable luxury cars?
toyota innova đ

aye, we are on the same rock
Anything luxurious here made by Toyota is called a Lexus so everything labeled Toyota here is an economy car or a gr car like the supra and Corolla with the cool carbon roof
idk man i see them 4 door sedans looking nice on the insides doe
and Lexuses are very rare here
Camrys used to be great
Large, comfortable sedans
There's a reason why they're so popular as taxis

camry is executive sedan
gonna get electrocuted
exactly!
Exposed steel body definitely wont rust in salt water
In all fairness I think musk is saying this crap knowing full well reasonable smart people wont believe him
Not a lot of tesla news came this week, he had to do something to keep trending ig
I mean a good coating can prevent that
as long as the car is washed afterwards, it should be fine
but if I would buy a reliable off-roader, I wouldn't think twice to buy a toyota
not a 140K electric hexagon

No a lot of interesting news happening
All bmw has to do is put a stick shift in the m340i to win back my heart
400+ layers of coating
that wont happen
Yeah, I'd buy from a company that already knows how to make a competent off-road vehicle
Though I'd lean towards the bigger side of vehicles
Doesn't the cybertruck like... dwarf an F150 in size
Big n heavy is the opposite of what you want for offroading
I mean, big tires help
okk
Yeah but again, I imagine they aren't as popular as say the f150
I mean they are more fuel efficient with the smaller 5 cylinder (iirc)
We probably don't get those here, remember
Americans have a stigma around diesel engines
Gas 6 bangers and 4 bangers
Some of them
Probably different trim lines
If it's not diesel
But yeah...what was I saying?
Oh yeah, OK so it's not as popular as all three companies combined but it's still up there
As far as countries other then us and Canada the ranger is probably one of the most popular trucks
If the ranger is actually classed as an f-series then it likely contributes towards the f-series being so popular worldwide
I don't believe it is
Hilux, ranger and...there was another one
That VW truck
Sad what happened to Detroit
Don't remember what it's called
And the Merc X-class but that bit the dust a few years ago
I mean
Yeah I see a few every now and then
For euro and non-us standards
It is quite big in comparison to the ranger and hilux
Amarok might be taller but I'm not too sure
I will admit one thing
Duallys on rams look astonishing
Just look like it belongs
The big 3 design dually wide-bodies differently
The ram 3500 is between 6.1 and 6.6 feet apparently
Shut up, I'm getting metric in a second
Lol
1.85 and 2.03 meters
Already knew
No clue how tall the amarok ks
OK so about as tall as the vw
@jagged sentinel
Well yeah I would think looking at the double cab and bed space
8 foot bed is the long bed option
I don't know if you use the term "double cab"
Dayum
We have multiple versions of 2-row arrangements
That's quite a big booty
We just say "single cab", "double cab" or "king cab"
We say single cab, extended cab, crew cab or super cab
I don't know if we still use extended cab as a term
Amarok has a 2.0L turbo diesel standard
Optional diesel V6
I believe that ram has a 3.2L V6?
Might be wrong
US Spec ranger probably has that but gas versions
3.6 V6
Close
One of the best engines Chrysler ever made
One of the few boring car engines that I like
Oh yeah, forgot Chrysler existed
A 3.2L V6 can still sound roaring though
Chrysler was the company who owned dodge and Plymouth and ram
The 3.6 V6 sounds mid
The engine is called the pentastar
So I'm just going to say that
But Iike the pentastar because of how damn reliable it is
Yeah I've only heard slightly smaller V6's but I get what you mean
200,000 miles in our 2013 ram 1500, never broke down once
Metric points please?
Ok
321,868.8
Had we got the hemi we probably would have seen at least one breakdown
But my mother's Fiat(yes, that unreliable fiat) Palio has been running since '05 and is going on about 300, 000km as well
(that's the V8 option in the 1500)
It's been costing a lot off late but it is an old car
I thought they were also reliable?
Eh
Ok so the displacement of the 1500's hemi is 5.7 liters
Yes, Americans use liters now too
I was gonna make that joke earlier
And dodge also put the 5.7 in the challenger, charger and Chrysler 300
And from what I've heard the ram 5.7 is a bit better than in all their other cars
I suppose you can't really say it's a "0.98573 Gallon engine"
We used Cubic inches
OK cowboy, calm your imperial measurement fantasies
But yeah I think it was a standard of measurement in Australia back in the day too
Some of us still use cubic inches, so
It doesn't matter rn
Just use both metric and imperial
But how expensive is that ram you mentioned?
We really only use it in bigblock crate engines at this point
The one in the picture you mentioned and your 2013 one
Amarok is around 44,590USD
That 3500 is probably close to or over 100 grand and our 2013 one is probably worth 18-20K now
100,000USD?!
Ye
Jesus christ on a unicycle
Remember
Rams are Chrysler's luxury truck and work truck
So there are luxury trims in addition to more barebones workhorse trims
Plus microchip shortages
$100k is nearly 1.8 million in our currency
Could buy a slightly shitter house for that
I mean that Cummins makes over 1000 pound feet of torque
I guess that is a factor
You're going to have to convert that
I don't know what torque measurement you lot use
1075 lb-ft
Tbh kw and Newton is quite confusing for me
I just use bhp and ft-lb as well
But yeah I understand how much that is
It would need to have a lot of torque because as you said it's a "work truck"
Not exactly a mid size pickup
Aye, I gotta run but this was a very interesting conversation
Despite my dislike for bigger pickups, it still was educating...for the 3500 ram but you get my point

Tc Will
You too
It's weird, despite the obvious extra equipment needed for towing heavy loads, you can also buy a luxury trim for that same vehicle, hell Ford and Chevy/GM do the same thing
Except GM has their luxury trucks in a different brand to their general/work trucks
GMC?
Yes
Gmc always seemed more premium
GM has like 3 brands that could be considered luxury
Buick is way more luxury in China then the US
In fact, China is likely the only reason Buick is still around
Sadly
Their place in the GM roster in the US is debatable
Only old people like them
You could say the same for GMC
True but Iâd say gmc are for like people in their 40s-60s
People who just retired and such
Like corvettes and 911s
I honestly think GM has the weakest roster of trucks
The C8 Corvette actually has a much younger consumer base then previous generations
it looks like a supercar but it doesnât have the price as of one
I think for the same reason that pisses off all of the hard-wired boomers
The placement of the engine
Obviously
Yes
It's where the father of the Corvette wanted it since the very beginning
Iâm surprised how long it took for a mid engined corvette
A mid engined chevy in general
Other than the Pontiac and that one older chevy
Chevy execs goofy
That's why
fiero
And I think you're talking about the corvair
Yes
Unsafe at any speed
wtf is this
M2
A lot of people think it's not bad
But I think it's ugly af
Byw
Btw
A funny video on tiktok
@jagged sentinel I forgot to mention but did you know that the Mercedes X-class is essentially a Nissan Navara? It is based on the same chassis with the same engine and engineering as the Navara
Yeah I knew it was a rebadged Nissan of some sort
What's German about the 86
My bad, I mixed up the 86 with a different car
But yeah the supra has German blood
Yes
It's strange seeing an Asian car maker need help from non-asian companies because usually they get help from other manufacturers like Datsun, Mazda etc
Not that I know of
Definitely would be difficult to tell with car manufacturing being at its peak in the 50s
The 10 speed in both Ford and GM cars was the result of a collaboration between the two
Your beloved ranger has that 10 speed
The 10 speed?
Well...I realize how dumb that sounds
Dead god, a 10 speed manual
Yeah that would be painful
Actually semi trucks have that sođ
Some of them have more then that in manual transmissions actually iirc
I mean you are trained how to use that gearbox
You learn to drive with 6 gears manually, trying to drive 10 in a regular car would kill you
6,7,8 depends what you learn in
My maverick has an 8 speed
Automatic, obviously
Anything more then 6 speeds in a manual seems a bit much to me
I don't really think you get stick shifts with more than 8, or at least not common
I don't know of any stick manuals with more then 6 gears
At least not in regular cars
7-10 it's likely automatic or semi-auto with paddle shifters
Unless it's a CVT
Where the answer to how many gears in it is "go fuck yourself"
CVT sucks unless you know how to drive properly with it
It ain't worth driving that way in my car anyway
No stress like racing, drifting, trying to show off etc
Only problem with cars that aren't manual is that you have to flatbed them every time they break down otherwise it damages the gearbox (like if its AWD or 4x4 and auto)
You have to what
The front and sides are nice actually its just tge real that looks like someone took a bite
Tow them home on the back of a truck not regular tow truck
Neutral
I don't know how automatic gearboxs work but remember that it's electronics that enable those gears
I mean also that's not that big of an issue
It's only an issue if you break down
I know it damages something relating to the gearbox or drivetrain
But then you break down, so there are bigger problems
Yeah because fuck breaking down. Just avoid it
đ±
Well in modern torque converters its mechatronics doing the job
In earlier 3 or 4 speed units it was mechanical
Never seen a car without a neutral gear
Idk, like I said, I don't really know how they work entirely but it does cause damage
Yea well torque converters dont have a clutch per se
As far as I've heard from qualified people and seen
That's what they mean
Automatics are just magic to me
Hydraulics are wild aren't they
Automatics have this thing instead of a clutch
So if u idle or tow a lot the liquid in it just gets warmed up
Very confusing
Most autos just get towed by the drive wheels fwiw
Kinda why I'm not doing automotive engineering unlike bimmer here
Comparatively simple
I am still quite confused
Makes sense
I understand something about warm liquids as the engine Isles ot6h getd toq
The actual automatic gearbox with the planetary geartrain is what confuses me
I remember writing some poetic shit in my exam
Now everything is just computer controlled
I am having a stroke typing
Honestly, this is all still magic to me because quite frankly I can't grasp the information being hurled my way
Including cam timing if you ask Christian Von Koenigsegg
Yea something like that i wrote
"The mechatronics unit uses multiple sensors like throttle position, engine speed wheel speed etc to ....."
Look up the YT channel "Engineering Explained". Probably has a video on both auto and manual transmissions.
Y'all think I'm joking but it's a real thing
Shit's wild
Some electronically controlled system
Once you do vehicle inspection and maintenance courses you'll appreciate the simplicity of ev

I hate EVs
There isn't nearly as much maintenance to be done on EVs
Mechanically they're superior
Its just battery that has to improve
The trade-off is that what maintenance you do end up doing can fucking kill you
Automatic cars do not have to be towed on a flat bed
Did y'all see the guy who DIY'd a camless Miata? Pneumatic controls. Kinda cool.
