I don't really go for Max or whatever I just train for hypertrophy (muscle growth). So I mostly stay within the 8 to 12 rep range. I also find comparing PRs or whatever online on forms where you can't even see people's face a bit cringe. Which is probably why I choose to ignore the gym thread in #community. It's very easy to claim you do things...

I also think of doing max is a good way of hurting yourself or damage your body long-term. I'm more into longevity than trying to prove something or catering to my ego.

I just go to the gym and I train and I just try to get good results. The mirror doesn't lie.

Also the older I get the more practical I get. I used to be into bodybuilding and weightlifting, now I'm starting more to shift towards Combat Sports because I think that's more useful. Only 5% of the population really knows how to fight correctly and even though we don't live in the Stone Age anymore, I think it's a useful skill to have and when you're big and bulky that doesn't really make you very maneuverable. If the guy knows what he's doing he can take out a guy twice his size
