Hello everyone, I've been having a problem with my GTA V for about 5 days, I'm having a crash in my game

I play for 10 or 15 minutes and the game closes without an error warning, both online and campaign mode, the same thing happens

I already formatted the PC, installed all the drivers correctly, and after that I installed GTA V on Steam, I don't use any third party program that changes my PC's registries, and I've already used Windows 10 and Windows 11, what happens is same problem in both game modes, I bought it in December last year and I can't advance in the game's story...

alr i fucked up but, have no clue how, so after always playing gta online i finally decided i wanted to mod singleplayer, well i experimented and figured out the basics so i restarted, deleting my main files and copying my backup ones, have alr done this twice (my second time was last night) and nothing happened or messed up the first time but, last night i was adding all the main things i need for my mods like srcipt hook, native ui, etc as well as addon peds, so i got everything added the second time but, when going to load up my gta i get to the main screen and tap storymode, and after like 30 seconds of loading up gta just closes randomly, no errors, no pop ups, nun, so i looked online and tried verifying which still left me with my old result, ig besides help im also wanting to ask if i need to delete the game, rly dont wanna have to redownload it again but, if it needs to be done then ill do it, also saw someone mention the gpu being a problem, so rly hoping thats not the issue

the cpu tends to terminate any program that's making it overheating so the only way to fix is to cool it down somehow

What happened is basically you're using the same steam account right but tjat steam account is linked to a different social club account which you're not using

So the Rockstar Games Launcher wants you to sign in with the correct Rockstar Social Club account that's linked with your Steam account to be able to play

If you're certain that the Social Club account is the same then you're most likely hacked or got a bug where Social club can't identify the Steam account properly

In which case none of us can help sadly its all Rockstar support based

why not request an email change on your old social club account to regain access if your goal is to avoid buying the game once more?

in that case, you can ask the removal of the two factor authentication and provide other evidence of ownership that they require

unlinking your social club account from steam, according to them, will prevent you from accessing the game. this is because the two accounts are tied to the game license, which is non-transferable.

I got two issues now let me explain each.

1. When I open GTA V via steam it shows up the prompt asking for it's usual privileges, so when I click either Yes or No it loops the program and keeps on showing up the prompt asking for privileges.

So basically the Rockstar Service that it's referencing exists in services.msc as a standalone service with the file executable RockstarService and what causes the error and the various UAC prompts is the fact that the launcher doesn't ask properly for admin perms to install the service properly and it installs it only as an executable without it being an actual service so it keeps trying to revert that but fails

Essentially just a mess in the code

It's most likely to happen when the launcher updates itself and is launched without admin rights but updates the service as well without going in the root directory to add the new service files

So an issue on the app side my guess was related with a script that was running in my bg something like asynchronously loop something

What verifying the files did is just add the services files into the root by reinstalling the launcher silently and keeping its folder in Documents which contains all the data that you already have

The service keeps closing and the launcher needs it so it reattempts a relaunch every single time

right click your desktop > new > text document. rename it to xxxx.bat, right click it and click "edit". into the batch file you just created, write taskkill/f /IM "RockstarGamesHelper.exe". if this, however, does not solve it, try taskkill/f /FI "PID ge 0" /IM *. this will kill every open task, its like a quicker version of a hard reboot.

pro tip: create a link to the batch file, and put a keybind to it, and maybe give it a nice symbol

Press Win+R, type msconfig and press enter.
Go to the Services tab, select the box "Hide all Microsoft services", then click disable all. (Make sure that Microsoft services are hidden before clicking disable all.)

Now enable the Rockstar Game Library Service again ( Go to the service list, locate the service and select the Rockstar Service checkbox).

Apply, then Ok, restart your PC to apply the changes. (Important, please don't skip the restart)

@fading cape the issue is easily fixable by using alt + f4 or the Rockstar Games Launcher to close the game

No need for all this crazy roundabout taskkilling and deleting onedrive and not to mention that if someone doesn't have cloud saves enabled that will delete story mode save files and settings unnecessarily
