You can also get money from the bar, but occasionally have to do bar resupply missions. The 3rd and most profitable thing you can do is buy businesses. There is 5 of them, ranked from highest profit to lowest:

Cocaine Lockup
Meth Lab
Counterfeit Cash
Weed Farm
Document Forgery

I'd recommend getting just the first 3.

The VIP Contract is very much doable solo and has only 48 minutes on its cooldown.
