I promise you that's how it works. Every account on my PS4's and PS5 require a 4 digit passcode to even log in period.

Soon as you click the profile it wants the 4 digit code

Auto log in just means it goes to that specific account first. Passcode still makes you enter a 4 digit code to enter the account.

there are plenty of situations where fps too high causes issues

You can use your own account on any console. Online data isn't saved to the console it's on R* cloud.

Just has to be on the same console family/generation. PS5 progress won't appear on the PS4 version, and vise versa.
