It was a reasonable move at the time (nobody saw the Alonso move coming, and Ocon was locked in because fReNcH dRiVeR so no seat would be available in the foreseeable future), and by the time Alpine made the blunder of announcing Piastri, it was already a mostly done deal with McLaren and Alpine was not endearing themselves to anyone involved.

Alpine was, and still is, a fucking clown show, even if their car didn't drop in form like McLaren's did.

Yeah, a manager so bad that he managed to find his driver a seat in 2023 for a team that was equal to Alpine despite one of the drivers clearly struggling, instead of Alpine deigning to drag said driver through the mud in the worst team at the time for 2 years, and finally throwing him a seat in 2025.

Was he really though? 2 years in the McLaren and he mostly sucked at it, soundly beaten by Norris for the vast majority of the time. And he got a fat paycheck to GTFO instead of embarrassing himself for another year.

And by the same logic that "Mark Webber sucks because McLaren just so happens to shoot themselves in the foot this year", if Ricciardo stayed, wouldn't he also suck because he stayed???

Scott Speed drove a 2007 Torro Rosso which was a year old RedBull which had shit aero cause Newey decided to focus on next year when he got hired by redbull in 2006 and it had shit 1-2 year old ferrari engines

So by all circumstances Logan is driving in a ferrari compared to what Scott had to deal with in his debut year

Or a better analogy would be scott sitting in a current mclaren while logan is sitting in an RB19 by comparasion
