finally got the slots to work. to help anyone else out I though the code 77777 worked but it was a false positive. after getting a lucky shirt, dragon claw, tort charm, lucky duck toy out, lucky qulin pet out, and 106 lucky old coins i put in the code 777 and got the piece.

Keep trying different amounts of "7" (e.g. five 7's, six 7's etc) and when you hit the right number of 7's, you'll see the magnifying glass. After that, keep repeating that number of 7's over and over until the slot machines dissappear. The piece of hate will show up in your bag. For me, it was five 7's.

I'm still trying to figure out how to trigger the Thunderfury to appear and have noticed something: If I use the Mechagonian Sawblades or the Blackflame Daggers, toys that display weapons on your hands, the ? disappears even having no weapon equipped. So I'm not sure if it's safe to assume that the trigger is related to the visual IDs of what you'd be unequipping.

Also have tried doing stuff around Shado Pan Monastery and the Sha of Violence (maybe this DH who triggered it had gone there just before), but nothing so far.

One thing I just found out, the solution in the Wiki for "Hear" is not accurate, 115 just worked by coincidence or as a failsafe mechanism, I don't know. I completed it with a different number.

Standing on the console I reset the cap, walked back to the thug and looted the ear, my cap marked (0, -16). Went back to the console, entered 016 and looted the coin.

for the lucky items...all are sold by vendors. The vendor in Stormwind also sells the "Old Lucky Coin" (a seventh lucky item). While it's not "very lucky" that means it still has some luck...I picked it up for the two toons that have unlocked the instance and will let you know the results.

From this run, I can tell you that the magnifing glass is an indicator of success and always ended with another piece of hate being added

Just to confirm that you just need lucky items. 4 was not enough.. got more 2 and the Lucky Duck toy, and worked first try with tree 7's.

The "You feel quite lucky" is being caused by the Lucky Dragon's Claw only. I tested that out

Before that, I tried that without the items and it didn't gave it to me.

it's not a 100% chance and any attempt will give the magnifying icon - keep trying - maybe different 7s - 777 777777 etc

since the slots puzzle is not 100% and when you solve it you can't check again it gets a lot of confirmation bias on what works

eg: i only had 4 items and used 777777

Another "Luck" item is Potion of Luck. Even though the item was made obsolete my Blizzard (i.e., the Potion is a grey item now), Alchemists with the recipe can still create the Potion. I just tested it on my Alchemist.

I had the horseshoe, the luckys from the guy in stormwind, and the claw and tortollan thing from griftah. nothing equipped

the horseshoe was not enough, and the horseshoe and lucky stormwind guys stuff was not enough.
