@spark forge no, there was a secret with these watchers all the way back in legion but it was never figured out. people have been trying to solve it ever since. then someone found out about the owl getting bugged before we even found ratts karacombs, if I remember correctly. then the sentries in karacombs just made it more clear that this was part of the bigger catacomb secret puzzle

@amber wasp You CANNOT complete this step until you have completed 1-5 o'clock and bought the crystal item from the vendor in Booty Bay for the 9 Pieces of Hate and the Golden Muffin from previous parts of this secret(again; pylons 1-5).
If you have done pylons 1-5 and still can't see the chest: make sure you have your buffed battle pet owl out and that you are wearing your Starry-Eyed Goggles(should be in your backpack). If you did this in a group or duo with someone else, there is a chance only one of you will be able to loot the reward.

Hi.. Not sure if this has been pointed out yet (cannot see it in the thread) but this will not work in group. Only one person can loot the statue, place it in the room and start the puzzle. Also even if someone else in the group resolves the puzzle only the one that has looted the statue and started the puzzle will get credit and will be able to loot the chest.

only thing I can think of is that people are jumping ahead and haven't solved 4 and 5 pedestals. The statue required to start the puzzle has been globally unlocked for awhile, and being able to start the puzzle at all might have been a global unlock after we solved 4 and 5. Perhaps the global unlock is buggy and allowing the puzzle but not spawning the chest if people haven't completed the previous steps.

Master of Secrets unlocks the crystal cause we get the muffin, which puts us in the room with the watcher stuff to lead us back to watchers, that's needed

normally if this accident on US didn't happen where this thing got unlocked, im pretty sure without the quest you couldn't even click the statue

interestingly, Mythic was the only difficulty where there was a light waiting for me by the door to Cordana's room after killing her and that was the one I initially took upstairs. That one didn't spawn after killing her on Heroic but I was able to take her platform's light without issue at that point.

I misspoke slightly, you do need to first click each statue if there is not currently a color. If you can't (it tells you it's not ready yet or w/e the error is), then find another. If you can, then it may activate with one of the colors.

you have to fly to every statue and check if it's clickable/active

that's just how it works, don't know why :p

when the statue works then you wait for the owl to circle and it will glow and you get a spyglass, and continue until the owl has the orb

The orientation doesn't matter as long as you use the same one. All you're doing with the website is building a virtual version of the puzzle for it to solve. The relationships between the statues is all that matters.

If you have done pylons 1-5 and still can't see the chest: make sure you have your buffed battle pet owl out and that you are wearing your Starry-Eyed Goggles(should be in your backpack). If you did this in a group or duo with someone else, there is a chance only one of you will be able to loot the reward.

The way that version of the mini-game worked, the one we were researching that we name Wildfire version we never got it to be a full board, not even after one of the members created a solution solver. However, @novel cargo and others were able to determine the way the tiles were connected acted like a Rubik's cube. So, logically there could be a full board solution, we never found one. We also learned that the Wildfire version was the same board as the WQ version with some of the columns and and possibly rows shifted by 1 tile. We also determined that the connections between the tiles did wrap, much like a Rubiks cube. So Yes I believe the Missing Volume 18 is a reference to that research, as every single thing in the Abridged Notes also appears directly related to our research. The irony is that the solution in mine and Tellz solution videos did have us solving the puzzle with only Owl 18 up. That is until the solution solver was created and we determined a shorter solution.

Don't know if anyone said this. But i did the first part when this wasnt fully solved and came back a day or 2 later for this. My pet kept the 4 buffs. I went in and in the secret room i didnt see the 4 orbs until AFTER i defeated the last boss and went back with the light. Only then i saw the 4 orbs with the statue.

Dropping in to say I used https://ham.io/watcher-solver/ and compared to the addon it's night and day. pay attention to what you input for each map, click what it tells you to click, remap, click, repeat until it has the data to solve the puzzle. if you skip a statue it will tell you to double check you data before proceeding.

You guys should really push people to use the website, easier and more intuitive, and can recognize data entry mistakes and allow for easy correction, without restarting.

Same here. That add-on is complete garbo. Any mistake with the add-on requires a complete restart of the puzzle, very time consuming. I must have restarted 10 times before deciding to check the website. The website allows for mistake correction. Even with a few mistakes updating the board state and clicking the wrong statue once, was still able to complete and solve the puzzle without restarting.

It's just that in ConCon's video, he uses the addon, which is why I used it. I must have wasted nearly two hours with the addon (because it doesn't tolerate mistakes), whereas I finished the puzzle in 40 minutes with the website, never had to restart and did make a few mistakes updating the board state.

just some FYI: If your game crashes while in the room with the puzzle and You don't show you have the Elune light. You DO NOT have to reacquire Elune light. You can still solve the puzzle and loot the chest with the starry eye goggles.
