#Tac-Com: Comms
1 messages · Page 3 of 1
Okay, thanks.
Just making it clear because his argument seemed fine to me, but I'm okay with it.

That’s a butchered Cromwell
Iron Hammer patch/logo !
While J.Jordan is away and I'm not gonna spam him for years, we'll use this with our motto written on it on top !
It's been voted on with multiple polls and it means "Every problem is a nail"
wait a minute, I think that’s a challenger
Is it temporary ? Depends on when J.Jordan gets back or not lol. But for now it's here.
Just using the Lego challenger I made (the hull was designed by someone else, turret was me) as a reference and YEP
That’s a WW2 challenger in your emblem
noice
Your smashing a WW2 tank in your emblem!
Works for me!
How close does an Engineer need to be to build something?
Noxima (circled in yellow) would like to Build Sandbags in front of Angel (circled in green) without moving.
They're 0.5 Range apart. That seems a bit too far to me
Also, is the massive circle around the starport (the blue circle) flat enough for VTOLs to land?
Shack mentioned sth about it in here
Tired brain/just waking up, but medics are supposed to be base/base contact for healing, so I'm fairly certain the answer is that engineers would need to be pretty close to anything they want to build
Yeah, I thought as much
I know he mentioned it not be a structure you can garrison or anything (that is not giving +1 Armor and unflankable) Just wondering if it's flat enough for VTOLs
Pretty sure it'd be fine, it's not yellow terrain
Ah. Right, I'm thinking of orbitals with landing legs need large flat areas
Just checking in on what everyone's planning this turn.
Redwall is going straight for Elim. If the orbitals are clear, we'll deploy this turn. If not, next.
I'm not sure you have enough speed to land, but confidence is high we'll kill the Vulture
Gate -> Nav-1 -> Elim orbit. 1 speed remaining, 1.5 required to land.
Unless you can grease your engine to get 4 speed?
Can confirm Phalanx is going to end up in Elim high orbit. Plans to land next turn and we are currently holding a vote for what to do after that
Clearing the east side of the city is winning right now
Shovels and 212 go to the Rock Station
As do Rabbit and Spearhead
How's the mass BG logistics doc looking these days? Is there a tab there for intended destinations?
"current location" was the only bit I remember seeing
Me, trying to sort out this SNAFU by founding an entire new TF just for coordination
TOTALLY FINE- (It is not-)
It's been a brutal 24 hours yea. Lots of sudden plan changes, staying up late mapping. It's like I'm back in grad-school lol
It's been really hard to keep up
I used to be able to do stuff at the same time, come back, read a bit, all good
But now because we have to coordinate with atlas for landing and storm for ground troops & part of landing too, aswell as ourselves with our vtols, it became a mess so quickly 😅
But we'll manage, this is just turn """"1"""""
(And REDWALL-)
Oh don't add them in yet ! 🤣
Only a small chance for another BG to land this turn given the enemy orbital. It will be a mess on turn 5 though on the ground
Low priority request:
We had a FTR be MIA since day 1. Never posted, finally blocked the server we found out today, so he's not coming back.
We'd love to offer control of his fighter to a slain player (with no Req payment to make things simple). Egg would be my first pick, with the noblest of sacrifices.
Totally understand if this is too complicated or sets a bad precedent.
Oh lord everything changes again😂
Won't happen. Every player has control over their unit and if that player moved on even while in a campaign then the unit is still theirs
It's what I expected, didn't want anyone to get hopes up. Thanks
Sure 👍
The only case close to this, was running NPC units.
DttS had 1 NPC unit that the GM wanted orders for. When a player died the player that was putting orders in handed it over to the dead player.
But that wasn't another unit being given to the that player.
Is any BG going for the optional target?
Spearhead was already planning on landing there with the mining transports
Copy
Perhaps we could deploy venator via the mine and have us flank around rapidly
Since we aren’t exactly the fastest
I would recommend Spearhead or Rabbit, since they are airmobile and are currently combat capable.
Reminder that the closest reinforcements by land routes is 7 strategic points away.
(If you get pinned down, don't expect reinforcements).
Venator could land there this turn. Spear and rabbit could join them using the lumarian transports afterwards.
The sooner we know how many supplies the better.
True
For clarification, Spearhead is not currently vectored to the mine, I can ask again what our deployment plans are but we were sort of caught halfway through them
Storm can fly over once we secure Elim
212th will definitely be keeping an eye on the situation and have our comms open in case we're needed
For the knowledge of any BGs wanting to go to Cell-dar, Victorum is headed to W1 to clear any hostiles so you should be relatively safe going that direction
I know we're still in the last phase of orders, but @abstract vector @hazy spruce we'll probably need to coordinate one way or another for our tac-maps... 😅
ofc
Thing is, can you give a map that has Iron Hammer units in it ?
Because I feel it might be better off for you to handle all the units that have Atlas transporting them
Aight, venator is intending to use the grav elevator for insertion
were flanking 17 tanks behind the enemy
If it makes it easier for Shack and it’s understandable then I can’t see why not
can you do the spaceport at least?
-# I'm not TacComming for BG12
Yes yes, of course of course, obviously omg
I'm not gonna tell you to do everything
But from what I understand we got the atlas HAT paradropping iron hammer units
Then that's it I think ?
I haven't read through all of it ngl
yea I can do that
The only big thing I am wondering is to get it clear for cap ?
Like, Iron Hammer units mapped on atlas tac-map but not on iron hammer map ?
Put in somewhere in your TacCom order the list of units being paradropped by Atlas, and I'll change the color of their name.
Or maybe you do it then give me a snapshot or whatever and I just paste it in to my map ? 🤔
I'll do all of 3218 (like 10 units crammed together)
Hey shack, letting you know that there was an active bomber player that missed BG/TF sign ups that has joined Victorum.
@abstract vector Right, just woke up, I'm also gonna need the position of Atlas' picket line before it lands, so I can plot the movement of the vtols & hvtols that are getting out and going through high orbit then low orbit passing through the ennemy orbital & fighters 👀
I like having my text readable, so I flipped the text on the facing for when it's facing south, if anyone wants them too.
This is just me nitpicking and liking details, if anyone else is like me, there they are
Also, I got that issue.
I have no idea of our troops are getting out of the picket line and then into the big metal ball that redirects to the landing pad, or just all of us getting out of the picket line on the landing pad it's landed at
Half of our orders assume 1, the other half assumes 2, and I didn't think hard of the question before I've had to map out the problem...
Dresden Valareo
[ARM]
— 15:00
You are coming out of the dome
That is basically, the "spawn" point
Solved by dresden in #meta-comm
What should we use to indicate a tank with the AA turret replacement? Currently there's no art for it
thanks!
Thoughts ? 👀
I’m not sure the condition really does anything
In the past Shack has said conditions are too difficult to deal with, so everything will happen as written no matter what. I’m not sure if he’s changed his position on that recently though
Well, thing is, picket line can only land if the ennemy orbital dies or not
this is not a condition from us, this is a condition from the game and depends on the ennemy's survival, it is not a self imposed condition
which is why this is separated.
This is an intentions map. Removing the IF would still make it work.
This is what Ixen asked in here some time ago to shack about the map becoming tactical if there's no ennemy and being to deploy the same turn :P
So for y’all to land it’s mechanically impossible if it can’t land? Got it
I'm just making this map separate from thoses who will land for sure with vtol/hvtols
so less headaches.
Also French I don't think you're allowed to leave supplies on the ground.
It makes more work for Shack
Yup ! ^^
They're given to 3 infs who can't transport them, but if it's illegal, ehm, well, we'll see
?
it's their logi order 😅
Maybe I'm wrong but reloading someone only takes 1 supply. (- Arty and Engis)
And then other units can't hold supply
You're not, I honnestly did not check or bother with the logi order due to, 4 hours deadline, many things to figure out and search for, etc
You need to do that
No I meant, I checked to see if it was valid, but didn't really checked for the small supply and assumed it was okay
Looks, lots of things I assumed were okay until I was told "actually, no" like, today 😅
Air + orbital + regular deployment + coordination + 24hrs time frame will do that to you
Just checking in on something. Are units allowed to start inside IFV’s and LV’s while in the transports? Might be a stupid question but I want to clarify since it changes a lot of strategy
It depends on how you unload them
Depends what you’re asking. I’m not sure if Shack has commented on how the unloading works at all. The only thing I know that isn’t explicitly allowed is an infantry inside of a logi truck inside of a HAT for example.
Shack mentioned that upon landing, every unit will be spit out of the transport. I don't see any reason why you couldn't mount up immediately, but you'd have to pay the loading cost
Yeah it’s if we have to pay the cost to load into those IFV’s and LV’s or if we can start in them
Assume you need to until you get told you don't by Shack
So, then, no supplies on the ground ?
Artillery can stockpile them, but yeah
I'm pretty sure that is a rule.
The rule I remember is it needs to be in a unit or storage building.
To prevent the video game thing of showing up, dropping your inventory, going back, grabbing more, repeat
A circle with an arrow pointing in them like I did in purple here ?
Clear enough
Alright !
Hey Shack, if you're around, Us Pathfinders are wondering how much of the asteroid base is vehicle accessible? And can we deploy our VTOLs to fly around the asteroid?
VTOLs operate fine in space (as seen by STORM), I'd assume that's a tentative yes.
Absolutely, I just wanted to make sure there's a way to launch them from the docking arm we're currently ported at. We can probably haul the VTOLs to the open floor and let them fly out the open top if need be. But I want to make sure.
@fickle elk There is an AA Tank Icon Now
Beat me to it cobalt
Was quite literally scrolling the search for the image as you sent it
Thoughts on this ?
I am aware it is incomplete as this does not show high orbit trajectory, Vivian is working on it right now, just gathering thoughts.
Also gonna need to add the Atlas HAT dropping our troops, i cut it too close with the map, oops.
You noted that the infantry you're healing are from Atlas, but those are Stormblessed's units
FUCK
🤣
Sorry, I'm used to working with Atlas since C3, I blame @tropic jetty for this lol
good for calling me out on it
thanks
How much do we have to keep in mind unit overlap between groups? Things are going to get pretty crowded around the spaceport this turn and turn 5
fixed!
If I don’t have to worry about it when making my map then it’s all good😝
I mean, making sure there's no unit overlap is cool for shack but
As C3's proven, give enough battlegroups a limited space with an important objective and they'll find a way to all rush inside at the same time and give you a proper headache 🤣
Coordinating with 2-3 BG/TFs for deployment is already hard, imagine coordinating with 5-10 of them now for next turn
...in less then 24hrs
Yeah it’s going to be a nightmare no matter who does it. Hopefully we can see storm or Redwall move outward for turn5 to allow for some more space
Location: Strategic Map - High Orbit above Elim. No specific location.
I gathered the information in atlas chat thanks to chinderella and got the map for the picket line
Forwarded it to vivian who's working on the high orbit map rn
Also tell me as soon as you got the HAT Hill Iron Hammer & Atlas paradrop extravanganza mapped and I'll copy it and add it to mine aswell
...think it's best if it's on both of our maps then just on yours and then shack comes and check mine and goes "okay where the fuck are the iron hammer units atlas advertized me" lol
Bless. Godspeed Hammers!
I have 4 hours til Im at work, so I can help if you need it. The locations of the paradroppers and the ODTs look good to you?
It's on the pic I posted. [High res is best]
Where ? 😅
So many messages everywhere
Looks correct for your VTOLs/HVTOLs. Landed icons might want to be closer and smaller, though. Just under the callsigns?
Ignore Omega-Zulu being understaffed and not having nearly enough time to do so.
Hm, it is true they are pretty big.
Hey Shack just to inform you one of Shovels HATs will be missing for a 1-3 turns due being without signal. Players loaded up will transfer next round to a 212 HAT
Mid rounds starting early freaked me out ngl
Well, the ones Shack is resolving are already locked in, so...
so I just posted our summary write up to be safe
It made me think the time had changed and I don't he the map stuff, the other taccom does
Yeah it’s just the obvious ones that he can easily start resolving
Yeah, I figured that out after posting the write up
I get it though. It would make me panic a little too😆
Looks correct.
neat.
Ceal make sure you post what group your posting for! 😄
Just so I have it in the post for future reference.
Capt, I deeply apologize in advance for the amount of work you will need to do to figure out where everyone goes next round-
Someone watch over his neck when that happens !
I'll get the cervical collar...
I'll be posting this map in an hour or so, just awaiting last inputs if need be.
does Victorum have a map?
They left this disclaimer: [Since Midrounds are starting early I want the write up here to be safe, Kael will post map if needed]
@sour quartz ^
Mixed up what they we're doing. All good now.
yah, since you said their was no tac map for this turn for us, Cael just posted the truncated list of who's doing what. If you need a map, or a formation, I can post one when I get off work and home in a couple of hours
Added our Fighter formation just after 212's, slightly out of order now, would you like me to resubmit?
Can I get a confimration. Out of the Victorum Bombers. They had 6 total with 2 having torpedo's?
Meaning 4 remain armed in the formation.
Yes
aww, I love you too! (^.^) good luck this round
My bad shack, I was panicked and in a rush
hey shack,
we have an engineer in DF, @floral minnow he was relatively active in our chat while sign ups were happening and has popped back up in chat now things are happening again, but he seems to have not officially activated his unit after making it in SAM.
Since we haven't actually deployed yet he was wondering if his unit could be activated still?
Cheese said he could activate a unit during a campaign easily enough, but it would need an okay from you.
a few of us have all said to him that chances are its a no go with how the rules have been in the past, but I felt like I should check here just in case
Fine with me. Lets hopefully not make a habit of it 😄
legend, ill let him know in DF chat 😄
Which Icon is the autocannon turret for the LVs?
this is the closest there is but it's not actually called autocannon
would it be this one that is called alt? I assumed it was HMG but as there isn't an upgrade for that maybe this is an autocannon?
I believe the top one is the AT recoiless
And the bottom one is the alt version, which is the AC upgrade for me,
It looks like some fairly subtantial cannons on top there
alrighty i'll go with that
Venator have a formation map, and we have all already voted and agreed we'd be moving straight to Ziyal next turn
Instead of pinging everyone in our comms ping and asking them to post orders saying they are in formation if they agree with exactly where they are, I was thinking I could post the formation in our orders thread and ask people to react to it with say a
if they are fine with their placement, and just ping me in our comms if they aren't so i can change it to what they want
Everyone in our BG i've asked thinks it's a fine idea, but that it's potentially against the rules as people aren't explictly posting orders?
So I just wanted to ask here whether or not it would be fine from Shack or anyone who knows
That sounds like you would need to repost a few times. Maybe do a poll with the formation below and ask one of the moderators to pin that?
Or just how you described it but in the Venator comms
Personally I like using the base game LV and putting the mech Autocannon on top of it
If people are just reacting to it and not having to post orders when it’s in the order channel it shouldn’t get buried at all
Ah I misread. I guess it could work?
Still think it's better to have orders written, even it's just a simple
"callsign - unit - following formation"
Allows people to add in roleplay if they wish and/or to be exhaustive, aswell as making sure everyone is transporting everyone that wish to be transported, aswell as also having a first round of "hello guys, orders, just simple one to get you used to it :D"
Otherwise not opposed to the reaction idea if it works for you guys I guess
I agree French but no one is stopping them
Unless shack/dresden step in, I guess.
I'm already considering dresden our 2nd GM despite him not being the 2nd GM officially yet 🤣
Yeah I’m gonna wait for shack to green light it
Oh I was gonna say people can still do Rp orders if they want
The whole thing just makes it 10x simpler for me/marl to track who is happy with the formation or not, and makes it easier for some people to understand what they need to do
The problem with that is that reactions can be removed or added later. Some form of order posting would still be needed
How is that a problem?
Orders can be removed/added later aswell
It’s not for collecting actual orders is my point, we all agreed we’re going to Ziyal
It’s for confirming everyone is happy with their place in formation, which is a lot simpler if it doesn’t get buried in our comm chat every 5 minutes
We do have the spreadsheet i tried working on to log every movement per turn I can send to you when i can
It’s fine electric
Electro*
I’ll still send you it
Fair point
People need to post orders. Its how we gauge who is actually active in the game and who isn't. It is also how we get their actual consent on where their unit is going and doing
We can't just assume peoples orders or they are active
Plus it is just good practice to have them used to putting in orders at regular scheduled times and stay active
Dresden do you know what Shack said in regard to players that go MIA with notice?
With notice no. I know in the past people tried to have others post orders for their unit for them, and Cap smacked that down
One of the biggest rules is you and only you can play with your unit
Only Cap can answer what else you would ask beyond that
And he may be busy today with the holiday here in the US
I suppose
Yeah one of our Shovels HAT players will be without signal for roughly 11 days. Not much that can be done about that.
I will just put a note in the next Taccom map so it is clear
they need to. If people are not posting orders, we can't just move and give order stances for them
Even if they say "I am leaving for X number of days. Just have me follow everyone". That can't work
One of the few requirements of Meta Campaign is you are active
That seems extremely unnecessary to punish people for having real life complications
I understand that people should control their own unit but they shouldn’t have to go MIA over it if they have given explicit warning they cannot give orders
Doesn’t that still work for strategic movement?
Since the BG doesn’t need orders?
We still need orders
If a player is just MIA for two rounds it doesn’t mean they are considered MIA for the whole campaign
We need to know that people are staying active
But what happens when the BG moves to a different map? Does the MIA player get removed from the campaign
Or do they teleport to the correct map on their return
Yeah I am not saying you miss a day or two and you are done. That is between you, them, and the Cap how to handle it
I am just saying, we can't keep their unit moving around on the table like they are active. We can't do that.
Plus we are also suppose to be tracking activity
That’s a hard one. I don’t think I can answer that
That is a question for Cap. As long as you guys are not retreating off a active map, it shouldn't be a big problem worth mentioning
Maybe they can stay off map in a reserve spot, or they will follow the BG to the next area but stay off map
Its if they are gone for weeks, or they are missing more rounds then they are playing in, or just stop playing that is the main issues
All I am saying is ask Cap. Don't make it look like they are active when they are not. Cap wants all TAC-COMs tracking player activity and being open with him if there are some missing rounds
Pretty sure MIA means they're gone...
The discussion was around when people are considered MIA
Hey Dresden, can you pass on some GM questions to Shack from my battlegroup for me?
But also mainly that people still need to put in orders, even if all those orders are is "fly in formation"
Not really comfortable being the Q&A guy South lol
Depends on the question? Why can't it be asked here?
I try not to bug Cap all that much really
Same. But my time schedule doesn't really get me in times when I can chat with him much.^^;
Anyway, simple copy/paste from the Pathfinders for the Listening Post:
1: Is there a direct route between the Dock Exit and the Sensor Tower? Or do we have to go up the ramp by the Unknown Location to the right of the Dock Exit? From the map view, it seems like the Sensor Tower is blocked from the Dock Exit by a wall / being on higher ground than the Dock Exit.,
2: Are we allowed to use VTOLs and engineers to do a hatch breach on the Reactors?
3: How much of the map is available for vehicles to traverse?
That's pretty much it. =w=
At the very least, when Shack comes around, can anybody point him to this question list? We're working on what we can do for our first turn on the map. =w=
It may not be today. He already said he wouldn't be around
Likely due to the holiday here in the USA
You're telling me. Fireworks were already going off around my neighborhood the last couple of nights. XD
Anyway, I'ma sleep now. It's 7:30am here, but I'm nocternal by nature. See you all later!^^
RAW, you're using the platoon system. You should be fine, as long as everyone involved is given the chance to disagree.
(Of course, everyone still needs to post "in formation" orders, but that can just be a template.)
just want to share this here, this is the TAC-COM information thing ive crafted for venator, your free to copy and use it for your own for your unit to fill out when they do there orders
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YcE4kzVd3jOjs7Mpu-NgFb-l_4XRrUBgEE11xFQzeV8/edit?usp=sharing
makes it ALOT easier to do maps with all inforation being in one spot
ignore the pirate themeing
Your formation is great. Also I forgot many MBTs y'all have... 😆😅
Oh cool!
tanks
anyway
your free to use it
just copy it and dont edit the venator one lol
Platoon system isn’t yet part of the rules (yes it is mentioned but not actually implemented)
Oh gosh I remember the original platoon system dang
dang, it hasn't been errataed in the oracle yet?
Huh. (STORM has kind of been using an ad-hod version of it for the last few rounds).
You mean the 4 squads and one commander system just after V1?
Yeah that
God that was fun to make units in
even if we did have the platoon system, people still need to put in orders
Yea, the order would be "In platoon directed by: [Callsign]" Or "In formation with [Squad Name]"
Atlas FTRs and Orbitals have been in Formations since the start
What about entering formation-style orders early?
Nothing wrong with entering "In Formation" in your movement. I have done that this round.
As long as the TAC-COM has enough so they know where you want to be in that formation
The TAC-COM getting clear orders is the most important part
Same here for Venator, it's what everyone is doing
You guys have formations ?
Just that groups are flying or moving together. Nothing special
Ah, hold on, I think I need an image for this
You guys have formations ?
Otherwise yes thanks for explaining dresden
AutoDave does send what the shape and facings are in that formation, just in case we show up at a Strategic point and enemies are there Cap knows how to place us on the map
Hm, we'll have to do that after elim city aswell then
unless we get a map of where we wanna go to
yeah
so shack knows how we want to enter the map
THE GREAT WEDGE
Horrifying
Wow that's beautiful
It would be cool to do something like this for rabbit but it would largely be useless since we're going to have most of our units exploring the map for scouting and QRF.
I may create a convoy like this for overworld travel though
That would be nice
So, this is where all the MBTs went. 🤣
Spotting quite a few familiar names on that front line too
Yea! What's up BigRig and Catalyst! Thanks for the rides in Scrap and Scatter ❤️
Valk-1, C.O.W, PIRATE YARRRRRRRRRRRR
Yup yup! We don’t know when we’ll find a tac map, so I’ll be including formations to my strat maps
STORM has ad-hoc flights for CAS right now, and have a travel formation, so yes.
RedWall question
Did an engineer build sandbags or are you using that as a dug in indicator?
@fickle elk @old narwhal
Martel used that to indicate dug in, engineers didn't have speed to disembark, move and build anything
can someone tell me what Arvin PA is actually holding for a weapon?
Resolutions to low
Looks like the regular base weapon image
All the other PAI units with vehicle weapons have a bulkier looking profile
that what I was thinking
They also have no additional equipment listed in the order
Arvin is standard PA
SPG
SPG
SPG
FYI: @willow shore is gonna stand in for Atlas for the next 4-5 hours, I'll be away.
Point of clarification: the logi-truck's call sign is Mortar, not Mortal.
No, I have no idea why he chose that for a noncombat unit either.
-# Mortar and Pestle
They’re labeled as ‘Dug in’ in the asset pack.
fixed
Woops
Correction: the HAT is named **Eureka ** not Eurkea (#midround-events message)
Shack: confirming units deploying from transports to the Listening Post start at the end of the Dock Arm at the transport? Or Dock Exit?
In addition: Can both Pathfinders and Ultra deploy to the Fed Listening Post this turn?
Hey Shack I believe you missed this heal from Pedro61 to Enni. Enni only got healed by Iron Hammer's Dice, but not our own Pedro. This was also the medic/vtol combo you missed last time (the VTOL is in the correct location, just not the medic and their heal)
Does this mean that ELIM City will not have a tactical map next turn? Or what does this mean?
We have overwhelmed the threat in the capital.
Battlegroups that are staying let me know what you want to do. All others its time to pull out.
Shack, while you’re here do you think we could get a blank Crossroads map? We have the one without the hexes, black and white, but if we’re allowed, one with hexes would be very nice to start planning our drop
most other BGs still need to land at the starport moment
Negative. No live map till we have eyes on the cross roads.
Fair enough. Well, we’ll be in high orbit above it at the end of T5, hopefully that’s enough to get us eyes on it, otherwise we can’t really land lol
@ Shack
ooh I see. Pedro is MIA
Please let Enni know they healed 2 More
So 5FS currently.
Passed it on boss!
Hey captain. Please excuse me butting in. But my group (Pathfinders) has a few questions about the listening post we’re investigating.
Whenever you find the time of course.
List of 3 questions right here.
#1382781756989767692 message
Bc theres only 1 docking arm, does my bg have to wait for Pathfinders to clear right?
Just tbc
Since the dwarf Bgs are on Nav-1 we need speed 2 in order to deploy at Elim? 1 speed to get there and then another .5 to land?
I don’t think there’s a speed cost for landing
Can we get confirmation on that?
So the station isn't massive. Its seems to be powered down.
Vehicles can travel on the outer walls of rock, an the inner section But not down the lift. With it being such a small little base fitting 2 full battlegroups could be difficult. But maybe not impossible? basically we're hoping you can get the thing powered back online see if you can get any sensor data streaming in.
We would never have found it if it wasn't for the locals pointing us at it. Means the bots don't know its location either... That could change. So fair warning team.
TAC-Map for Elim City Turn 5? Yay or nay?
So, confirming Ultra will not be able to deploy this turn?
Nay. Most likely mid rounds for story stuff and maybe some light combat.
Ultra can deploy if they wish. But work together to not step on each other.
based on how old that station is. Good chance it wont just "turn on"
good copy. will do. Thanks.
Thank you very much Shack.^^
Though I just recently learned that there's a few more question to shove in here.^^; Some have already been answered, but I'll sort out the rest for you here.
1: Will we spawn at the Docking Arm Exit in 4117, or will we have to move there from the transport in 4116?
2: Can VTOLs deploy from the Dock Arm and operate throughout the first floor?
3: How large is the Main Lift: how many infantry can it move in a round?
4: Does the Sensor Tower count as a building that can be garrisoned for defensive cover?
5: Is there a straight path from the Dock Exit and the Sensor Tower, or do we have to go up ramps from the Main Lift area?
6: Can the reactors be breached like orbitals using VTOLs and engineers? Are there external hatches to do so?
7: Are there interior tactical maps to the Reactors or Sensor Tower?
That's about all I managed to find for questions. Sorry for the mess. My group is very particular to know how far they do things.^^;
its got 1 dock. So 1 group will deploy then the next.
Hey Shack, does it take the automated transports speed to land at the starport since we control it now? Trying to figure out if DF can land this turn or not
I think your good. I dont think I had the other NPC transports use speed to land at the starport.
They just needed to get to thing.
That reminds me of a question for Rabbit, does unloading from the mining transports cost speed? If so, what’s the cost?
Shack how detailed of orders do you want for Elim City peeps?

But no actual map is needed for Elim, so just mark down who is transporting who as we unload?
Seeing as the Listening Post is empty of hostiles. Does the "I can move anywhere on the map in 1 turn" rule still apply? And how do performing actions apply to this situation? Can a person make several actions in a single turn, or just 1 action?
Why do i have an odd feeling that station is going to turn hostile? XD
Automated defenses online. Please present access codes.
because there are a lot of perdy yellow triangles?
quick question we are getting a lot. do units need to spend 0.5 movement to leave the auto transport?
^
i´ll take that as a yes
That statement was in regard to the lumaran transports.
Redwall should be a good example if the 0.5 cost was used
Redwall is staying in Elim. Main priorities:
- Fortify the city, construct a redoubt around the starport especially. I'll get a map of that later.
- Help clear any hostiles remaining in the city.
- We have a combat medic with the CCP upgrade and a medical corps with the Field Hospital and Civilian Aid station upgrades. Any chance we could do civilian engagement with those?
If we strategically move from Elim City to L-H, can we still get our medics to heal our infantries before moving ?
Or will we only be able to heal once we reach L-H ?
You can take actions as normal. Moving only uses speed.
Since we have rabbit over Hill Mine, would we be able to get a topographic map of the ground areas?
I assume you mean Fluffle
Can’t blame you for confusing two fluffy organizations hehe
would we spot any civilian activity?
No hostiles or unknowns. This is just the most basic topogrpahical map.
When fuffle arrive in orbit proper they can get a good scan..
Not going to be about to spot ground traffic from high orbit without scanning
Thanks Shack, do we have any clue what the light blue is compared to the darker blue? Is it the mine itself?
How specific do you want the Elim orders to be?
@fickle elk
Might be a dumb question but logi trucks start with supply coming out of the transport right?
Morning Shack,
Less urgent, the two Orbital MedBay upgrades in the two equipment tabs have different lines - one indicates a maximum of 3FS healed without indicating a time frame, while the one on the orbital tab seems correct.
Could you please errata the oracle when you have time?
Shack, just for clarification, all out aerospace units minus 2 should have landed at the end of the last turns attack, and reloaded.
Or are you going to rule that those that chased the frigate, couldn't reload?
Yeah if they are supposed to be landed. Represent that on your next Tac-Com map.
I probably left them on the tactical map to show them being a part of the combat.
Yep, were polling right now to either chase into LW2, or move up into mine to intercept the two new BCs and unknown contact.
I will check that medical bay info right now
Quick question, can we send our aero assets after the frigate, and take it out in L-W1 before it retreats, or would we have to chase?
Into lw2
What are the two medical bays?
Oh I see.
The Medic specific section
medical updated.
Yeah, that one has a 3FS limit that doesn't specify time frame.
Thanks!
Ohh, another aero question, if someone manns the flight deck as their action, do they reload 2 units, or just 1 per action?
Yeah
You still need to move. and do actions as normal.
Does that mean we're restricted to the speed limit? Have to move the distance the unit can go, instead of moving anywhere on the map in 1 turn?
Sounds like it's going to act as a tactical map since we don't know what's there
Bummer. I'll have to break the news to the group.^^;
If they want to risk it. They can always use Rush order type😄
... I'd bap you for that if you weren't the captain.
DM: "Sure, you could do that."
IH was looking to move to LH this turn. Are we able to do a strategic move as part of that? We are speed 1. Or do we need a turn of getting back together?
Adam what group are you a tac-com / backup for?
I am helping make the map for Iron Hammer is all.
For formations.
I want to know if I have to plan moving around Elim or if I can set it up how we would move out
Yes
So if your on the ground you can make a move into the next region if you want. or hold tight and see whats in the next zones ect.
Cool, so if it's 1 action for both units, then everything is reloaded.
Atlas voted to stay in Elim for 1 turn. Our ground forces can hopefully qualify as a 3rd BG (we've got a bunch).
We will be prioritizing Evacuating any willing civilians from the area, Repairing Storm's VTOLs, refilling local Logi-Trucks with supply, and scanning/scouting the corners of the map.
In a formation, can it be specified under which order types some units are ?
This would be to say light mechs are under evasive, thus gaining more defence for arriving 👀
Also, can some units be declared in the formation to be "scouting ahead" and thus give us more info when we arrive ? Or will the only mechanical effect be "okay thoses guys are further up" as we've placed them ?
Update to the Spearhead patch, for better contrast
Damn that's gorgeous
Where do I sign up for spearhead ?
Putting us to shame😆
Also, no one knows on this so far ?
The exact rules on entering an unexplored point are up to shack, and aren't really meant to be hard rules.
You can be in evasive in formations though
Formations are just tac com maps without a background
Noice.
Basically a “these units are moving to this place on the map” but you just don’t know what it is
So you can put order types on them all yes
Nice nice nice.
I did the cards for mine
Adam is now officially a secondary tac-com aswell 👋
...after what has happend for turn 4, I am very keen on getting more volunteers to help for some odd reason 🤣
Just have everyone be a secondary TAC-COM and we all put our own orders on the map :p
Oh god, collaborative paint 🤣
You should see our officers page. (They don't give orders just help coordinate)
Exactly!
I assume that those of us in Elim are still bound by movement? No free actions like just laying out the trench lines we want to make?
Shack said earlier that we're in Strategic movement, which implies we can move wherever through the city. Just need enough people to declare their action as "hunting down bots" I think.
Effectively Neutralized
So if we have all 6 Redwall engineers and 12 infantry working, how long would it take to do this?
Blue is sandbags
Yellow is razor wire
Red is tank traps
You're still limited by action economy.
By my count that looks like 10 tank traps, so 10 supply and 10 engi actions - for example
dunno how many engineers you've got
Should be 6
If you're ignoring movement, each engineer can build two things. I'm not gonna do the math for you XD
Shouldn't forget that infantry can dig trenches. So that would give even more fortifications
You may want a route open to evac refugees and bring in feds when they arrive
The plan is engineer lays sandbag, infantry digs trench.
...Do we need to put facing for each unit in the formation ?
Can't we just put a big ol' advance facing for everyone ?
Any thoughts on this so far ?
I speak mainly in terms of "visibility" and "understanding what unit is which and carrying what", please for the love of god do not get us going debating on formations again 😅
If you make a map diagram, you can showcase everyone's heading with a simple arrow.
Though I think if a mass of units are all pointing in the same direction together, you can showcase that and it's accepted.
Okay thoses arrows look way better then what shack's provided us and what I used to do, oh my 👀
That tac-map looks brilliant
I make my own assets.^^
thanks to timing, this DID dig this tho 😅
Yeah, I might have to figure out how to adjust the coloring.^^; Maybe White outline and colored fill.
some of our members wanted a brightened DF badge, so this is that
I'd say a little brighter, it still looks kinda shadowed. But that's just me.^^;
Updated again
Oh yeah, that last one looks good.^^
So we’re taking in orders in Venator, 3 people havent dropped orders, and I just wanted to know what MIA entails for them? Would they be left at Celldar mine as the rest of us move to Ziyal? As we’re moving on the Strat map would they come with us? Etc
Obviously yes they still have 8 hours I’m just checking before hand
@ Shack ^
...same question for MIA but even worse, what if the MIA isn't even out the Atlas transport ?
I kindly considered them to join us in in formation to, y'know, L-H and Crossroads, so if they awaken from their MIA slumber they can join in a tleast for next round but, is that being too kind ?
If the bulk of the group want to move on and units are out of position and not responding. Mark them MIA. MIA means "unit lost" basically. If they come back for the next round I will leave it to you Tac-Comsto allow them back. They miss more than 1 round in a row. They need to be marked MIA permanently.
Can't get credit for being in the fight. If your not in the fight.
By GMs do you mean TAC-COMs or mini GMs?
Hey shack, quick question, would it be possible for you to send the tactical map of Ziyal so me and marl can get the TAC-COM map ready for venator next turn?
Wooh boy, okay, thanks.
yeah Tac Coms
Roger that boss!
MIA Permanently means "you're not getting back, you're out of this, cya next campaign" ?
Correct the message! ✅
Yep
Wow, okay.
if its a ship captain. The crew take over.
I understand, it's just I tend to be kind with that kind of stuff 😅
Still remember leaving Albert 1 in C3 like 4-5 rounds before marking him permanently MIA... 🤣
But I'll follow what you say if it's for the best
Should we give you a list at the end of the campaign or updates in between? Got one player that hasn’t responded at all.
Another that will be without signal till mid July
I know of 2 players who've literally left the server, so they're permanently MIA from the getgo in my book 😅
Its fine. If stuff like this happens just mark them off and move on.
Any possibility of this? I’m busy tomorrow so I wanted to get things ready for marl so he doesn’t have to do the set up alone
You only get a map if forces are in the area.
Right ok, fair
You have no orbital or ground forces in the area.
we will next turn, then the fun begins
So setup a formation and thats how you will enter the map.
We’ve already done that thanks to XSwords
Just wanted to see I could prepare a bit before next turn drops for the orders
Nope. I will post this in meta chat as well so it gets spread. Its come up a few times.
Takeoff and landing uses the VTOLs speed, getting in and out uses the infantry's, correct? Double checking I'm not crazy
Loading the infantry additionally takes the VTOLs speed, but otherwise you’re right
Loading and unloading units as cargo. Takes both the transport unit and cargo units speed.
Ah, don't really know where to put this but here seems good
One of our players, foamy_zaza has decided to quit the campaign. Not sure if you would like to remove them, or MIA them etc. I'd say it should just be unactivate as they only just got asked to post orders for the first time and haven't so not like they dropped out mid combat
That should answer it #1382781756989767692 message
Would it be simpler to just ask right now so we don't have to include every time that someone that hasn't appeared on a single map yet is permanently MIA?
If they don't want to play I would just mark them permanently MIA.
Its also in their interest
How do you mark someone permanently MIA though?
Yeah I have one too for Shovels
Gosh this first round where everything is so cramped is terrible to make a map for😅
at what point do we tell cap though?
He'll need to know at the end with all the KIA units when sorting out the payout
End of campaign I will ask for a KIA / MIA list
So just keep an eye on your people. Probably the best way to handle it. Of course remove them from any maps going forward.
I assume 30% drop rate on all campaigns. Or any multiplayer function we've run.
Stuff happens.
There’s a Tab in the Logi doc that I’m updating with MIA players.
It’s got their Callsign, BG, unit type and Discord.
You can always ping me with their name on the turn they go MIA. I can change it to temp if they rejoin.
Shack, just to double check, do you want a full tactical map for the Elim City battlegroups or more of a statement of intent and some diagrams?
Depends on how complex a battlegroup is being. But a simple statement is fine.
What about a map overlay
Cuz currently each bg is submitting their groups order only, but with a map overlay, it would highlight movements of other bgs as well
I don't understand what your asking.
Does he mean like combining multiple BG maps into one?
That seems like it would get very chaotic and hard to read very fast
Sorry nvm
forgive me, this is what i meant, im not a great explainer
😭
ty @frank frigate
By any chance Shack for formations, do you need anything in particular so you can easily copy paste it on the (maybe) future maps ?
I can get mine in transparent background, but I'm unsure as to the text font you use, or if you'd even want a .psd file or something 🤔
I can do .pdn files since it's paint.net export format for layers but, I have no idea if photoshop can open .pdn without workin' around. Could always give you the 2 separate layers by sending in one .png with the units and one .png with just the callsigns.
Or do we just throw it in as is and you'll figure out how to copy the formation back for you ? 👀
This look okay?
I’ll add some more detail in text form as well but wanted to ask you fellow tac coms if this would work
Some icons missing down south no?
Also probably better to put some black background or something for showing who's in what IFV
For a moment I thought they were units on the map till I read the rest, this can lead to confusion
I handled transport vehicles a little weirdly because it was super inconvenient to try and show them all loading up in one spot
Yeah I can try to do something like that instead
Seems like a better solution for sure
Yeah, + cap needs more what needs to be done then an actual proper 1:1 tac map if I understood correctly for elim city
for what its worth, I like to have lower opacity icons at the starting position of the units and the normal icons where they end up
Eh, it's more work I don't like.
I did consider that idea. I am just not sure how much it really matter when we are all coming from the same place this turn. In the future though I will defintiely try it out
where is the blank elim city map? It'll take me like 2 minutes to do
Unless the GM (hello blockade runner and shack) specify they want the past unit's spots marked for easier tracking, I don't bother with it as it easily adds an hour more of work imo
just to show you what I mean
TTS has been working pretty well for me though. Didn’t take me more than an hour to get this done and that was with a bit of a learning curve
Since arrows are harder to simplify, gotta transfer units over, verify arrows are on the right ones, making sure it's understandable, etc etc
I’ve gtg right now but ping me with stuff and I’ll respond to it when I get back. I really appreciate the help! I’m brand new to this so I want to get a solid grasp of it early on😄
I think on other turns I will consider it. This turn though we are all starting from the same position and the clutter of all the arrows in such a tight space I think would make it more confusing
I like to combine my arrows by the order type, makes it cleaner
but I totally get where you are coming from
Still a good thing for me to keep in mind though. I defintiely remember seeing that on one of the past orders I was looking at
I can share some of my old maps from the past campaigns if you'd like. I haven't made any for this one yet other than the strategic layer stuff
I would love some old battle maps, blank background images too if you got any!
Granted these were only air assets, but these were rounds 2, 3, and 4.
I used the blank map as a background and layered the current turn over it so I could put all the players at their current positions (reduced opacity on the maps).
Then I went through and mapped where they wanted to go, connecting groups as they moved together
That's awesome! I was a baby infantry in 4N/36W the whole time in Blackout. Thanks!
I think it’ll get better and I can do something more like that later on. This turn and this situation is just a bit harder to find a great way to map it🤔
Those are some clean maps though
Play wiht it, find the workflow that works for you
Okay tried to take some of the suggestions and improve on things. Lmk if it's better or if there's anything else I can improve on
what are you using for your mapping? TTS?
Yeah TTS. Been working pretty decent for me so far. I’ve got like near zero experience with any kind of photo editing software
You're not locked to speed this turn.
Thats fair, I was just going to suggest drop shadows if you were using paint.net or something
Idk what that is but orders are already in anyways so oh well. It’s good enough as is
Tactical speed.
You can move on the map as much as you want.
It's not just a Tac map. You're still limited on primaries and actions.
Where can we find this information reliably in the future?
In midrounds.
It's wether a tac map is need or not
I might be wrong though
I couldn't find the thing I remembered
#midround-events message
This is what I was going off of, I thought Shack said something else but I couldn't find it so it might have been someone else.
I took that to mean that we could now move battle groups off this strategic point and onto another nearby one if we wanted to and had the movement for it
Strategic Level 101 - The Flow. Step 1. Work with other players to form a taskforce or battlegroup. Step 2. Chat about a plan and see what taskforce your battlegroup could ride with and how you want to deploy to the field. Drop pods, HAT's, VTOL's, Orbital Drop Ships. Build out your battlegr...
also pinned in #meta-comm
Okay so Shack declared that the tactical battle was over and so we could now move a BG off the strategic point without needing to get everyone to the edge of the tac map
That's my understanding
Well we voted to help clear Elim first before moving on towards crossroads so that works out well
... could I convince you to upload your pack to the steam library?
Here's a few of mine aswell !
Thoughts ?
Once again, if shack passes by...
I can try and get that figured out sometime this week. If you want though and are free sometime tonight like 10:30-12 pm EST we can just hop in a room together and you can just save all the objects I am using
Should we maybe use https://discord.com/channels/222052888531173386/1382045293591134218 for coordination (since recruitment is kinda pointless now) and restrict this chat for only communications with Shack? Just so it doesn't get filled with unecessary chatter
@woven merlin I believe @abstract vector had a Free Company TTS mod already setup
Yes, please
Alright we can take the chatter over there
Is there a supply icon that we have?
I grabbed the supply icon and supply package icon from the Titan campaign and plan to use them for Small Supply and Large Supply
Not a huge deal or anything, but Spearhead does have this version of the patch for better contrast on the map if you want to use that for future rounds
Hey @valid latch what unit type is SP? SPG?
Special forces

Unfortunately, I am not..
That's the old icons
There is one with the new icons. Dave uses it
I went through and compared the icons in that mod to the file pinned here and the only difference I could find was with the infantry units. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal though and I couldn’t get those new infantry files to load in at a resolution I was happy with anyways
Is there a unit icon for PAI with a jumpack and shield?
The shield is really just a straight black line, so you can probably add one in
I'm not seeing one with a jumpack though
Should clarify that I only checked the units that are in my BG
Use the one labeled LRM. It looks like a jump pack, especially if you draw some fire coming out of it
Theres no PAI art with Jump packs. With or without the shield
Are those suppose to be ODSTs?
I shrunk them down and tinted them black
Ok. The PAI icon made me wonder a bit
I was like "How the hell do they have 5 PA troops!?!" 😂
Also, we're trying to move "How to Map" discussions to https://discord.com/channels/222052888531173386/1382045293591134218, to keep the Tac-Com-Comms chat clear for Shack.
Very good
The next PA upgrade: Put more money into them xD
Oh!!! Can we keep them?! (River Rats)
Deployable NPCs?! Are they Drop pod trained?! So exciting.
-# probably not but I thought i'd ask
Do we know if we get individual movement after we strategic move into a new area? Feels like the answer should be no
Atlas did.
Individual movement: Kill Frigate
Meanwhile, Picket Line, waiting, Strategic movement: land at Elim Spaceport.
seems like the reverse would be plausible.
(assuming you have speed left)
Like if your VTOLs have 5 speed, but the BG has 2, you'd have 3 left when you arrive.
Gotcha. Our BG is speed 1 so I don’t think we’ll have much to do
Storm did it T2
I think we should probably get a shack ruling on it one way or another
I like to think of it as "Cruise Engines" and "Combat Engines"
Cruise Engines go in straight lines at high speeds, but don't work when there are enemies nearby.
Combat Engines work when enemies are nearby.
One's for Strategic Movement, and one for Tactical Movement. You can spend your speed on either one or in a combination of both in any given round.
That would make sense, I just don’t want to cheese the rules if that’s not something shack was thinking of
can we have the unedited tac map for our orders?
Electro we aren’t on the map yet
Chill
Not the place to ask
Special Forces.
Sorry, I’ll correct that for the next order submission.^^;
Hey guys. Some of my members have issue with where Shack put them on the map in the Mid-Round event.
VTOL Wasp is not where he's suppose to be. He's suppose to be in 4016 inspecting Reactor 1, not with the rest of the VTOL squad in 4318 looking at the Long Range Ballistic Missile silo.
LM BlueMec,LV Sapien, and IFV SklBus are surrounding the Main Lift in 4118 instead of spread out. BlueMedc in 4017, Sapien in 4217, and SklBus in 4117.
Can someone please let Shack know when he gets back online?
Diving in today to finish up the maps South. Will get people moved.
Some like the infantry just couldn't get as far as they wanted.
Without Rushing.
All good.
Yeah, sorry for the lack of information. I'll see about adding Hex coordinates for the next turn. But thank you for adjusting movement. I know one of my players at least would be very appreciative.
VTOL Wasp wanted to inspect Reactor 1, but they ended up getting roped in with the other VTOLs going in the other direction towards the missile silo.
Should we still have callsigns colored by the movement they are doing for our tac-maps ? (red for advance, green for evasive, etc) 👀
otherwise this looks very nice.
Question, @ Shack:
Storm Blessed is probably going to be moving on the strategic map next turn.
Do we need to worry about the nitty gritty of tactical movement with our strategic movement, or if Elim City is secure can we just move strategically since the tactical map for Elim would not be a thing?
Could we get a ruling on moving on a tac map after doing a strategic move?
Example being: dwarf fortress has speed 1 and moves to a location 1 movement away on the strategic layer. Can the individual units move on the tac map after that or are they just on the edge of it
That's what I said, he wants a ruling from Shack tho
-# to stop the long discussion again
If you move it uses speed.
So if you dont have 1 speed left for stratigic movement. You can't move.
They use the same pool. You can only stratigic move if you either 1. get to the edge of the map in the direct you want to travel on a tactical map.
or 2. No Tactical Map for that area.
because the threat has been removed.
Warren saved 1 speed to stratigic move as a task force.
If they could kill the Frigate in orbit. They did. The threat was removed. So they moved on the strategic map.
I think he means the reverse case if I’m not too tired (I have just woken up), if for example, Rabbit used our 3 strategic speed to move from a non-tacmap area to an active tacmap area, do our individual units have their full speed when we arrive at the active tacmap?
3 speed can be:
2 strategic moves
and
1 tactical move
So units with more than 3 speed could move, but the units with just 3 would be stuck, right
That makes sense, good to know
New question: how does that work for those of us coming in on the Mining Frigates, since we’re using their strategic speed, not ours.
So what Ixen said yesterday was correct. I apologize for making a kerfuffle about it lmao
This is the important part to remember
Orbitals are just like giant Logi-trucks,
So any unit that disembarks still has its own movement.
Atlas did this too by waiting to deploy our HATs until Picket Line was in atmosphere.
[0.5] to disembark, then [6.5] to run to the paradrop site and back.
didn't need to spend [1] to strategic move while inside the orbital
Makes sense to me
"Yes that random string of words I just said made perfect sense" >.>
You’re moving on the Strat map and still using up that speed so I’d assume no
I look at it as the amount of movement x thing would do in a day
So if the orbital used all its movement it’s the end of the day, you cantuse your units days worth of speed aswell
Yeah but Picket line is a player unit
I don't see why that would matter. For what its worth, my answer was one clarified earlier by Shack, so the only relevant point is the NPC vs Player one.
Couple questions here:
What effect does the Black Cloud have on...?
- Orbital Drops
- Aerospace transition to Atmosphere
- Scanning Targets
Would Venator be able to detect (not necessarily identify) an enemy Orbital in High Orbit?
Shack you have the Aviary Guns and Corvus Guns backwards.
Also the Echo (Our LF) is missing
None
Cap, L-H is clear yes ?
Nope, nothing else on midrounds exept "Iron Hammer goes here"
Yeah its clear.
Low Priority Question:
Has the Picket Line taken on any Refugees from Elim? If so, how many cargo bays are they occupying?
Shack can we know where LH empties into Crossroads for sake of mapping?
Is it just that NW corner?
Just convert the direction of the line on the stratigic map to the tac map.
and your good.
So yeah that NW corner sounds right.
If corretions are needed for equipment please make a note on the next Tac-Map in text for me.
In the post or on the map is fine.
Gotta rest my neck for a bit.
Oh. Yeah, that's way simpler.
Tac-com orders due Thursday? Or are we pushing it back to Friday?
I was doing as you said converting the direction of the line from the strat map to the tac map, by getting the square and the line then extrapolating it and putting it on the strat map...
BUT YEAH NW SOUNDS EASIER AND SIMPLER TO DEAL WITH 🤣
I'm happy with NW corner :D
Huh?
Why would they change?
Just come from the general direction...
Yes yes, I said right after I'm happy with the NW corner x)
Wasn't sure because of the push back by a day from the 4th, but I think we caught up on the time.
Spearhead has a clarifying question for the mine map; there's not going to be a tactical map initially when we land (we hope), do you just want generic "what we're going" orders and we'll sort out our positions later, or should we display where we intend to move this round? Just want to understand how limited our movement is considering we don't know what's on the ground
Mountain areas in Crossroads are impassable to at least vehicles correct?
at least those without jumpjets?
There wasn't a push back.
Is ascending/descending to and from orbit considered tactical movement and thus hand waved on controlled strategic nodes?
It takes half the units speed to ascend or descend to/from high orbit
Shack:
Question from Rabbit. Do we have a Hex size for our ships? Will we have 5 transports land in 5 hexes? One hex?
Shack, would it be helpful to highlight the zones Victorum's PDs have coverage on?
Shack/Dresden, could I have your approval for a wild plan that involves getting Redwall to Crossroads aboard Atlas?
It technically breaks the "don't split BGs" rule, but ends with the entire BG in one location, with their vehicles traveling through a non-combat map.
I'm hoping we can keep Redwall from having to sit in Elim for the rest of the game
Might be good to add that there is no hostiles in L-H. So in practice both will be arriving in Cross Roads at the same time
No splitting battlegroups. Ever
Is there any reason Atlas can't just take the ground path to avoid splitting? Or do they need time to get off the ground
not enough speed for that 😦
Sorry. Core Rule.
Bumping this in case Shack's around, there were a couple other questions up here that I think are still waiting on an answer as well
The plan called for the BG to follow the same route at the same speed. Parts of the BG would just be embarked in another BG's vehicles.
The plan had the battle group splitting. That's why he specifically said splitting a battle group. See the image above
Yes sorry if I didn't make that clear to you earlier, it was a very rushed conversation.
Will lay out plan when I get home
Hey Shack, just wanted to let you know that one of Pathfinder's Engineers and infantry is missing from the board. ENG "Rapscal" is intended to be alongside INF "1st Tail" by the Main Lift, along with INF "Nothing."
I also noticed that I believe LOGI trucks "Blossom" and "Runers" are in each other's spots. Blossom is suppose to be up near the Sensor Tower, while Runers is suppose to be down by the medics.
Just thought I'd pass it on.^^;
Holy cow, close quarters was right
The plan was: Redwall boards TF Atlas transports at Elim (Blue), moves to Crossroads via Route Red, then disembarks at Crossroads (Yellow)
Vehicles would follow the same route at the same pace.
Except Atlas, 212th, and shovels are taking the dotted route so we can be in Crossroads this round. (Atlas will only have 1 speed left when their orbital ascends from the spacedock)
You're telling me. Mutimals don't take a lot of space, and even we are feeling a little cramped here.^^;
No, Atlas doesn't have the speed to take that route
that's why we had to split
and why Shack vetoed it
nm then
Sorry, wish we could!
The Storm Blessed Formation - Updated for lost units
Blossom was trying to drive into a structure with a locked door. Infantry will need to get creative and unlock the door.
requires clarifiction for one of venators players:
"I can say "Ride along until the truck doesnt go no more, then use my movement to go to X" right?"
If you know when/where the truck will stop, yes. But you can't have a conditional such as "My INF gets out of the IFV as soon as it encounters opposition".
someone wanted to get an answer to this and tabby is busy so can we get an answer to this?
Make sure the TAC-COM notes your scanning very clearly first.
Or the bomber order to strike could get ignored. But I'm ok with it.
can vehicles fit through this mountain pass? the coloured highlights seem like there's nothing in the way. it just seems small
also do we have a straight sandbags icon for engineer stuff or do we have to make one?
got a round one, can always use a drawn line if you need
the round one is supposed to be 'dug in' which is a different thing to engineer sandbags
I also have an artillery player with a minefield, and the only description of how big it is, is '180 degrees' but how far out does it extend exactly? 0.5 hex?
Is there an order marker for digging in? I see the sandbags but I don’t want to confuse myself / Shack.
There was none. Maybe add on the side text?
It's not an order (though the order would be hold), digging in is an action INF can take rather than moving.
Yes. I was wondering if there was a symbol and/or marker besides the sandbags. If not, I’ll put it in text on the side.
Ah, yea. The sangbags serves both purposes at the moment. Text for clarity is a good idea
I still got the ol' assets...
Here, thoses are assets from the ol' C3 packs that might still be usefull here.
The blue line is a trench, btw.
Ay, not me Trench, cap's assets !
we all ms paint doodle our own interpretation of any missing game assets(joke)
Oh, trench commenting about the trench.
funni.
He knows his stuff
Made this one for heals
It would be really cool to get this pinned
Is that the red cross or is that the "distinctly legal red cross™ " ?
no we dont wanna get sued
make it green or something
I can distinctly remember cap being like "nuh-uh" for red cross logos as he didn't wanna get problems for it
Makes me think!
Let me rumble through...
MASH Icon !
Not from shack's asset pack, made it myself for C3.
That's also why it's so smoll. If anybody needs it at some point here it is.
also, we should move icon talk to BG organization, as promised earlier
Icon talk is important for tac-map making, being relevent to this comms I feel.
How can we be clear to cap if we don't have the relevent icons ? :D
we discuss in BG org and than tell shack our final verdict
BG Org for planning & coordinating BGs
Tac-com comms for... well, mapping stuff aye ?
for communicating with shack which could be important questions, clarifications, or informing shack of decisions such as what we’ve decided the map should look like in the absence of official resources
Not sure we need to be that strict with when or how we talk in tac-com comms...
As long as we understand what's on the map I guess anyways.
we dont need to be strict with it thats just how I see it
Orders this week were very to the point since it’s such a simple action. If you need anything else from me let me know
Opinions on this ? :D
I won't lie, I've been struggling to get shadows that I like for red names, I've settled on "black + white" for today, i have no idea if it's any good.
Might just go for light red instead of red red for callsigns next time...
I've settled on just doing white names with black surrounds.
I might if shack isn't bothered by it 😅
The colored names look helpful IMO.
As long as they don’t hurt your eyes staring at them.
Yeah a drop shadow effect on white words can make a world of difference making them readable
But there is nothing wrong with coloring them either. Whatever makes it so Cap can read it
Yeah, white word with black background is great for readibility
But I remember from C3 cap wanting the names to be colored in link with the orders (so red for advance, white for hold, green for evasive, etc)
So... While I do like names to be readable, I also like the idea of coloring them with their orders so... 😅
I'll give a shot at lighter colors maybe for next turn
Hey @valid latch Why do I have 7 maps and a good doc in Tac-Com Player intentions? 😄
I dont mind if the good docs are a reference for the Tac-Coms but I wont be using them. You guys need to boil these player intentions down into something easily consumable for the GM! Thanks!
Took me a second to realize you meant google doc and then I was confused and went to look and wow, that’s a lot of maps and content
When the planning goblin in my head takes over😆
The different Tac-Com styles can really be seen this round.
Hehe.
As we start to descend into mapping hell :P
Which one do you like best ? 👀
Hah Redwall. 1 Sentence of actual intentions. 3 paragraphs of RP 😂
Yeah I thought there was way too much RP in there... like there's like 400+ orders to process
TTRPG players are nothing if not consistent
They've started to go a little stir-crazy.
And they really, really wanted me to mention those sandwiches.
Atlas over here trying to play Pokemon.
And I figured the pictures showed intent clearly enough. Not like we're doing much except marching.
Yeah your good. Just having some fun looking over the Tac-Com posts.
Thought you might appreciate it more with a little photoshop work 😆
Been fun to push myself to learn the program better
Priorities man lol
We are moving a single tile on the strategic layer.
Yeah I didn’t even bother to do a map for it😆
Can I get a double check on these coordinates?
Is this the location both Heavy Transports wanted to be on?
...god I hope not
3917 for STAN
3918 for Domusil
Looking good according to orders, dug up a bit in venator orders even tho I'm not their tac-com.
Thanks. Just wanted to get a confirmation.
Hey any feedback on this so far? Probably gonna split the map between ground and air since this feels already too crowded
3 HATs being crowded ? Nah, that's good so far for me.
Yeah I had in my mind just that under those three HATs are like 10 ground units?
In general the whole BG is split between 3920, 3819 and (mostly) 3820
FYI shack, unit Bober was meant to stay on Honey-p then dismount
Ah sorry, thats on our end not yours
Player didn't check over their order or the proposed map
Plus Flyer 7's scouting in High Orbit (Very scared)
We all unloaded from the Lumaran Transports.
I'm unsure if Warthog is on right now, they made the map and did all that, but I'll do my best to answer questions
Gotcha.
We figured Kirby would just be grounded until the Airfield is built
Lets go with "flew along side"
Oh! I thought you denied that. So are they technically in the air or on the ground?
So they got out of their mechs to explore? Interesting choice.
Yeah. T-Rex suggested it intially, that they might have better chance investigating not from their big mechs, but on the ground. Only you know if that was a good choice 😂
Welp, good to know
Hello. I was concerned that unit misplacement in the last round was due to lack of information. So I decided to try and include Hex placement and facing.
Sadly it expanded the information by a lot. So I ended up dividing the intel by each team my battlegroup is split into.
5 map movements for each team, plus a blank final unit placement, and a combined map movements.
I’ll see if I can crunch all the intel down into one map. But it’s going to be very text heavy.
Can anyone tell what JackRbt is?
Most of the unit locations we're do to them not being able to actually go to the location you indicated.
Looks like a light vehicle to me. The buggy from Halo.
I know myself that Jackrabbit is an LV, I don't recognize the icon though
Speed 1 infantry cant go 2 hex's. Which is fine because I shuld have been more clear on the starting location.
Hey shack, I had a player (and myself) wondering if light mechs (and other land vics) can target air units with their weapons
Oh dear god why
Nope. They can fire at landed targets.
Alright thanks
unless they have weapons that say they can.
Jack Rabbit is an Auto Cannon light vehicle. I didn't have a symbol to use for it so I just grabbed something from another game
I'll use the regular symbol from now on
The Up Armored LV and the Autocannon LV don't have specific icons, sadly
I was trying to go to high ground with it too
Right
I noted all of our upgraded units in the objectives
Oh I forgot to say light vehicle Auto Cannon in the objectives I just said Auto Canon my bad
Yeah, everyone assumed we were spawning right at the Dock Exit on 4117. But I think most of us accepted that the infantry weren't going to go as far due to that mix up.
But some of the vehicles still ended up in wrong positions, and I think two of the foot soldier units ended up missing from the pile of infantry rush entirely.
Regardless, I'm opening up Illustrator now to see what I can do it cut down.
I think you can merge some battle paws maps together easily
They technically already are. It's the text that's the issue.
How's this Shack? Does this setup look comprehensible?
I just got home from work
I was just trying to give all of the upgraded units unique icons so they would be easier to differentiate on the map for you, that's why I put a anti-air token on stinger. I used an ALT LV for armor up on thunder. And I used that little gauze hog for Auto Cannon. Also bolts has a machine gun
Yeah looks good
Thanks, I'll reset my order.
Hey shack
Can you send me a full image of the battle in venators sector?
Like the map
I can’t word this right…
That's going to happen at the end of the round most likely
Right Yeah
Patience
You do know that I am not a patient person lol
This is the part you're supposed to enjoy more lol
Less panic, more hype !
Didn't manage to get the orders all mapped yet but there are enough Build actions and the large supply for building the proper airfield and more
Just a heads up AF will be 3820 and the Hex will be really full
the battle rolls haven't even happened yet xD
I'm presuming this was unsuccessful?
Can't catch another trainer's pokemon
...I thought this was about ARMCOmon for a moment
I mean, they're sentient creatures that can make their own decisions, not Pokémon, but it's up to Shack.
tbh Ive been pondering recruiting some of the locals if I swap off medic for my next campaign
dammit vivian
not again
Hey, Combat Engineers are Ultra Rare, right?
BTW. I want to let you know Pathfinder’s official emblem patch has been finished.
I have it pinned in our chat. One with a clear background to be used on the map, the other as an official patch.
Hope it looks good for you.^^
#1383066264485888120 message
Yes
So, worth a shot at least.
Two exist. One is ConPete in Storm and Consul in IH
I had one player swear they were gonna spend their req making the River Rats if it worked lol
So what happens when artillery tries to funnel a target that can't move?
Too complicated to keep track off in the orders ?
No. Its not meeting the fantasy and dont work as well with the changes to infantry.
Just making sure you didn't miss this from Venator. Any Hostile Orbitals present at C-Z?
Oh. Another arty rework is in the works then I see !
@ Shack
Do those*"Ravager"* heavy gunships look like they're lumbering enough for VTOLs to hit?
Pardon me Shack, when next you come around. This is not urgent.
Is it possible to jury-rig Ion Mines for Engineers to be "space mines?" Can an Engineer, with the help of a VTOL, create a minefield in space?
Another option is to have the robots drive the forklifts full of explosives and drive them into invading tanks.
I know the round isn't over yet, but I'd also like to relay a question from Spearhead's engineer, as he wanted to repair/maintain the grav lift and wanted to know if that was successful or not
Sadly no that's an orbital upgrade.
So Rabbit's already trying to board the factory Walker
Somehow it's not surprising.

We tried to tell them it’s probably not worth it in #meta-comm but I guess they still want to run it😆
Typically we would call this natural selection where I’m from
Why is it the innate Armco Spirit to try to infiltrate giant walking robots
We got an engineer in Iron Hammer who wants to make a casino out of the factory walker...
I don't see why not
- Shack can Storm ask the people in Nerys Village if they need to be evacuated or are they okay to hold tight?
Hey Shack, Ajax is an ODT and thus is indeed 5 FS, not 6.
Should have made that clearer on the map for next time
@sturdy belfry Answer Shack in here
...was intending to relay his message from iron hammer comms but that works too yes
Shack, question, Bolts should have been carrying and then dropping an infantry squad, Boreal. Was that simply not shown on midrounds, or have they been possibly missed?
I may not have depicted their transportation perfectly
I realized when I just checked our orders today that I used an outdated version of the map where it doesn't have the transported text that I added on the last day of making the maps on all of the units that boarded our transports this turn
Has bg4 been added to the Hill Mine map? We haven’t heard anything about it nor have we seen any of their units. Such as the artillery of the logi truck that just got shot
It’s been address in midrounds now lmao
@ Shack ^
Shack, R-Flag is shooting at the factory walker.
Shack! My artillery crew would love to share the good word of hiex with the enemy factory walker.
Alpha(warpit) was on the tripleS HMG was that accounted for?
Nvm they were fixed
