Orbitals need the Mech Doors to allow Mechs to do that. I think they are able to maglock themselves onto hulls without upgrade

Im expecting an enemy presence, perhaps not huge but they will be setting up factories and once we attack it i imagine it wont be long until their backup arrives

Honestly I'd say it is better for ultra or Pathfinder. DF is such a big gun focused BG meant for assault and defense in depth with an objective to secure a vital bot reinforcement point. It could be a waste of fire power and cause chaos later if we went there and delayed securing a bot factory.

We should not go for the side objective. Our primary focus, for both Dwarf groups, should remain securing and defending the Hill Fort. If we get there early, we should use that advantage to focus on entrenchment and fortification. Anything else is only a distraction. Besides, it's not as if only the BG that goes to the objective benefits from whatever cache they may find. If it's an upgrade option, it will be available to all ARMCO. Same if it's intel

as i said it’s for speed 1 only, we don’t know how much of our forces we can deploy as a combined arms BG and weren’t infantry focused and it would leave the merchants virtually defenseless
we also are hauling basically 50% of the artillery for this operation
one of the other BGs need to go as we are ill suited for the task
at the same time i understand the frustration it might cause for no one to go see what unspecified technology was at the station but it needs to be a better suited BG than ours

Still say Ultra would probably be the best for the job. They are big enough to be able to deal with a threat if they need to fight and a large portion of their force is infantry and light mechs. With like 7 inf, 2 med, 2 eng, and 8 LM they are perfect for seizing a station.
While us not taking the mines asap can have extremely negative conquences for the entire op. Storm lost 4 units this one turn to bot reinforcements and our objective is to take the bot factory and stop them from being able to make more reinforcements after all.

Hmm. Could be. Wasn't sure what you had in mind since armor is cav, vtols are air cav, and technically you could squeeze IFV in with the armor as cav too.
im a tradionalist for horse cavalry. even had a discussion of what anti-armor weapons can get placed on cav to fight for a modern war.
We all agreed that light at-sticks would be rough but loading up a buncha six shooter GL's with HEDP would do the trick against lighter armor
So does deploying from the transport use up all our BG's speed. Or can our BG still use its 2-3 land speed to leave the city and get to the mine this round after the transport uses its 1 speed to get us to the port and drop us off? Because all our logistics planning show very much that our BG once on the ground can move very fast, and with the mine only one space away we could theoretically easily get there even if we have to use 1 speed to disembark our transport/cross and exit the city.

For those that may be confused, the Skidbladnir is landing at the space port. We are then unloading from the ship there. Once unloaded we are to be in or loading into the vehicles that are going to take us to Hill Mine.

Quick question about range, is the range directly tied to how many spaces it can shoot or is it a rating? For example, artillery has a range of 4, is that 4 hexagons? Because if that’s the case, that seems awfully short for artillery.
most weapons are range 2 so outside of LRMs arty has twice the range over everyone. 4 times the range of laser
I guess it’s probably the best middle ground when it comes to being realistic and keeping the unit balanced
Because make it too short, and the unit can no longer function as intended, but make it too long and the unit becomes effectively unkillable, so now that I think about it, the range is fine.
well the map is small so i imagine that helps it’s not like the map is a 15 by 15 hexagon or more
Yeah, maps in C2 almost broke Photoshop. We pushed that program to the limit, so this is more manageable
