Thank you so much, I used something similar now in the solving of Modeltests for B1 - Lesenteil, I went ( 1 --> 3 -> 2->4-> 5)

So what part I found hard last time, solving the modeltests,.
This time I said I will do them first, And last time I got 24/60 for lesen

This time 30/30

Hello, I really need help in Teil 2 of the Goethe exam, I can solve other Teils but I don't know why I can't understand this part and can't choose the correct answers, most of the time I find the answers so similar or very incomprehensible and that makes it really hard for me, right now I'm looking for a specific and correct way to solve this Teil... can anyone help me with this? Thank you!

Hmm... Well, the point is: you have to make a coherent story. So, one of the most important things to look out for are things like "So eröffnete sie...", the "so" meaning that is how/why... -> this is a consequence. Therefore, the sentence before the gap must include a reason for doing something, see? Same for the one starting with "Deshalb..." Or take "Vielmehr gefällt ihnen die Idee..." (= Rather, they like the idea...) -> this is contrasting one thing with another. Therefore, you look for a sentence with a real or implied negative (in this case: ... handelt es sich selten... (= rarely; not often)) Does that hellp?

Yeah, comprehension and common sense are a big part of these exercises.

As an easy example take the paragraph that has blank number 14. It talks about a lady who went to an event and met a man who was impressed by her outfit.
In theory, nothing speaks against saying that the lady then went on to open her own shop, but the more "logical" or better-fitting alternative would be option D.

And the contextual clues that Susana mentions should be looked for both in the text and in the sentences you're filling in. For example blank 12 is followed by a sentence saying "This [woman] can then fulfil a new wish with it.", and you have no idea who this random woman is, or what the "it" is supposed to be, so you find a sentence that contains that information, like option C.

Thank you both so much for your reply and help, but I have two questions... according to what you said,
should I look at the answers before I read the text? And then I start reading and choose the best one ? Or read the text and then look for the answer? my second question is that the text before the blank number is important or the after one or both of them? Should I read and then stop at the blank number and look for the answer or I should read a little bit more after the blank number? Thank you

You will have to read both the text and the answers several times!

Even a native speaker has to do that to find the correct answer, you see?

I start out by reading through the text, first, to get a general idea. Then, I look at the text both before and after the first blank, to figure out what kind of sentence I'm looking for. Then I read the answers, to see whether there is an obvious choice. If there isn't, I go to the next blank.

Hm, I don't think there is a single right answer to that question, it depends mostly on your personal preference and style.

When I do these and I read all the answers beforehand, I effectively have no memory of them by the time I get to the first blank. So usually, I'll start by reading the text, stopping at every blank and seeing if there's an extremely obvious answer that I can put in there. If I get lucky, then I can immediately eliminate some of the answers.

At the end, I'd then go back to the options where I couldn't immediately figure out what to put, and I'll check which of the remaining options makes the most sense. (Keeping in mind that there are more answers than blanks, so not all answers will be used.) But you might find that a different strategy works better for you. Ultimately, you'll end up reading both of them many times as already said.

It depends on the sentence, but since you need to put a sentence into context, the context can be found before or after the sentence, or both. If you think about it, a sentence could relate to a previous one - "My mom took me to school. The car broke down.", it could provide information that the next one expects - "We had cake today. It was delicious.", or it could also just fit between two other sentences and they both relate to it - "Bob gave me a toaster. We used it to make some toast. Bill choked on a piece and died.".

And after completing all questions, if you have time go back to whichever question you think is best is to go to ( Usually Teil 1 since it fetches most marks).
