I downloaded duolingo after I saw your question because I was curious what it was like to use the app and I have to say I’m pretty disappointed at how almost no synonyms are accepted in both German and French courses but yeah I still grinded for no reason 💀

I don't know if that's entirely true.
At least, I don't consider myself a "total beginner", and I'm still able to learn quite a lot of vocab by going into one of the later lessons on a topic I'm not well versed in.

Both happened to me within a span of 30 minutes
