#Asterisks?

In German this is called "Gendern". It´s basically the same as writing Die "Künstlerinnen und Künstler." only that you more or less combine the two endings with an asterisk. This is done for inclusion purposes.
ohhhh that makes so much more sense thank you
np
Most people don't like it tho so be prepared for that
to write it in short like that?
some people just really hate change and think it's unnecessary because of their personal worldviews
wouldn't really worry about it, if you want to use it, go for it, if you don't, don't
it's just there to be more inclusive of everybody
Well it's not exactly the most beautiful thing to read, can cause issues with screen readers, cause difficulties for foreigners and dyslexic people, there's no universal system so people use /, _, *, :, etc. its real world effects on inclusivity aren't fully researched and sometimes it's kinda not possible like with Koch*in/Köch*in.
Just get ready for the obligatory "oh my god you're doing it you wanna make our kids gay"
Not gonna state what I think about that because this is probably better suited for #archived-sensitive-topics
