Okay. If you didn't edit the title, the sentence didn't work from the start. It must be "gelehrt" instead of "gelernt", just like Delli said. :)
And there was nothing at all unusual in the way Delli corrected you, btw. :)
I'm quite surprised you found that sentence in Hammer's.
I just checked Duden and DWDS and neither even mentions this use. 🤷
