Any shopping tips for a newcomer when you live in Germany?

Like Lidl or Aldi clothing discounts, trusted thrift store branches, when and where to get coupons, etc? All i know for now is to not touch the frischmarkt because they're basically organic stuff and how winter clothes are usually on sale after winter in aldi/lidl during wednesdays or something like that. Is there some truth to it?

Clothes are barely sold at Aldi or Lidl and if there's a good deal they'll be gone a day or two after the sale.

If you want to do hardcore couponing check out the "mydealz" website. You can type in anything you look for, no matter if sports clothes or iPhones, and people post related deals to that. If you type in supermarket stuff you'll also get that.

There's also a few apps and websites from almost every store (kaufland, Rewe, Lidl. Not Aldi) where you have coupons and can see weekly offers, eg sometimes there's a week of 20% off on rice. Time to buy 5kg of rice.

I'm at a point where I buy my clothes used ONLY on the app "vinted". It connects sellers and buyers from whole Europe (it has some own kind of shipment system, it's not really expensive to buy something from eg France there either) - and if you buy a winter jacket that doesn't fit you for 20 bucks, just resell it for 15 again ezpz

Germany is pretty big on couponing and gatekeeping sales lol. If Lidl sells a drill machine for 20 bucks starting Monday, be sure on Monday 8am there's at least 10 people in line waiting for it to open

There's also a system called "gzg" - geld zurück Garantie. Sometimes you can buy items and fill out a small questionare about how you like the product, and in return you get back all the money you spent. Very common for snacks, drinks, and cleaning products. I haven't spent a cent on laundry detergent ever since there's always some gzg offers. I can tell you more about that if you'd like, I'm one of the hardcore couponers

There's only very few chains and theyre shit (eg Oxfam) since they're so commercialized

U have to try ur luck with local ones in ur city, can be hit or miss. In my city (Jena + closest bigger city, Erfurt) there's not a single good one

Mydealz again, I never buy electronics used bc too risky. Unless it's proper refurbished websites, eg Lenovo thinkpads if u need a laptop

I highly recommend getting rossmann app, it always gives you coupon and you cant get cosmetics, cleaning products, vitamins, clothing and some snacks etc. DM app too
