Hallo! Alle
I am coming to Germany this fall, now I have offers from multiple German universities for MS Physics. But now I am confused, which university should I choose.

If it helps my research interests are quantum materials/ devices, semiconductor technology and similar field in quantum hardware.

Ps: what I am looking as an answer is the comparison between the two universities ( academically), living in the respective cities, overall opportunities of work in my field in the respective cities.

For academic comparison, did you try to look at the study contents online and compare them?

Yes i did
Tübingen offers more quantum optics with their focus on optoelectronics.
But it has a tution fee of 1500 € per semester.
And a small city with next to none research centres.
Whereas is Dresden there are many research centres and institutes, but they do not have any exclusive module for quantum information science and technology. But they do offer subjects focused on lasers, quantum materials etc

As someone who studied in both I can confirm that....

So, there is not a very big difference if a uni is part of TU 9 or not ?

Did you study in Tübingen or Mainz ?

honestly i think any student who has to work part time going to these TU9 universities is just self torture

i dont know tubingen, i only know about like 4 of those universities in TU9 and all i heard was that its too hard

i had friends in TUM struggling with bachelor after 6 years.

so if your parents arent rich save yourself the trouble and pick a university based on the curriculum and the city

yeah I cant afford any tuition fee, thats why I decided to join TU Dresden, the city is only a little bit bigger than my hometown, plus i got the student accommodation too for approx 260 euro(warm rent).
