#Is it possible to stay longer than 3 months to look for a job as a US citizen?

Hello!
I just graduated uni with a Bachelors in Computer Science, and want to move to Germany for work. I think I would like to enroll in a language course while I apply for jobs, as I am around A2 level and think I need more immersion to get to B1.

The problem is, most of the stuff I am finding says that I can only stay for 3 months, and the job seeker visas seem to specifically exclude USA as there us the 3 month no visa requirement?

I am struggling to understand my options here. The language course I am looking at is 12 weeks long in the evenings, so I dont think I could apply to jobs after, given that it would put me close to the stay limit. Would it be better to do an intensive course for 3 weeks instead?

Honestly, I would just stay in the US and get experience there at a company while also learning german on your own

You’re at a loss here since there are many native Germans who are studying computer science who speak fluent german/english plus international students who have already been in Germany and gotten experience at companies here/learned German while here

Your best bet if you absolutely want to come to germany right away though would be to enroll in a master program of comp sci somewhere in germany and then learn german/apply for internships since being a student will give you a visa

sadly i cant afford to do a masters

and uh. i cant find a job here 😅 im too disabled for a lot of work. and the US in general is inaccessible to me as i cannot drive (i know how to drive. i cannot safely drive. learning to drive is not an option)

Didn’t say it was free, I said it was tuition free. Because the 300 covers your student bus/train ticket, helps contribute to the Studentenwerk so you get discounted food/housing, it’s not paying for just tuition. But Compared to US or UK or some other countries it is basically free though 😅

But anyway if someone can’t afford to even pay 300 euros once a semester (every 6 months) then they probably can’t afford to move to germany 😅

ima do 2 months and see what i can do. i can afford that.

3 weeks for language program, rest for vacation/job apps. if i dont succeed, ill see if i can find work in the US and move back in with my mom

id like to do a masters in the future, but rn? im exhausted from academia

You would need financial proof for a job seekers visa anyway
