Yellow Leute, (a little backstory here) i kinda need some help with this preparing myself to study to Germany. it's not an 100% thing but I'm dedicated to put it the work. In 1.5 years i'll be graduating High School, the plan is to get my bachelors in Germany and possibly live there long-term. I've been learning German for the past 3-4 months and so far gotten to A2. now, I'm not exactly the most financial blessed person so that means i have to work twice as hard than other people. my plan is to try to get a scholarship, but i heard it's near-impossible to get a scholarships for your bachelors degree there (it's possible, with a little hope). or maybe there's an alternative to somehow still getting some kind of financial aid but not as full as a scholarship. In hopes by posting this, there might be some extra-freundlich people in this server who would kindly give me information about this or even guide me through it. if so, thank you so much and i hope yall can have a great day!

most people take out a loan to fund their studies

I'll see if I can find the thread where someone linked some scholarships

#

You can also check on daad

#

Most of them have the requirement of being politically active or being active in your community or smth

I've looked through all of them, I dont remember what the requirements were but all I know is I didn't fulfil them lol

But most if them don't cover a full bachelors degree, just 1 or 2 semesters

#

cause the tuitionis very low, it's money for living costs you need to show

I don't think they cover studienkolleg

If its not up to, you have to open a blocked account for the remaining balance

atomic patrol
#

how's the cost for studienkolleg? are they same as Unis

sand abyss
#

some universities charge high fees though, yoj have to check

#

But studienkolleg doesn't pay tuition, just semester fee

Directly to your bank account

#

You multiply the money you get each month by 12

#

If its not up to 11904, you have to show the rest in a blocked account

atomic patrol
#

ohhh, so the total amount from the scholarships still could be use as blocked account funds even though their not directly in my Blocked Account?

sand abyss
#

Yes

#

You show proof you got the scholarship

atomic patrol
#

oh, that helps clarify some things that i was confused of

#

so basically, once i graduate, i need to apply to a studienkolleg first right?

sand abyss
#

Yep

atomic patrol
#

achso, so ok uhmm

#

gimme a second, i have a couple of sources of scholarships opportunities but their in german. do you mind help me out figuring what they're trying to say?

sand abyss
#

Ok

atomic patrol
#

and i've pulled some pdf files from them, but fuck their in german. my german is not particularly the best

#

i've somewhat dive into them with the help of deepL and google translate, but i'm unsure. they seem to be a fully funded scholarship and the requirements i'm not fully aware of/understand

sand abyss
#

You need to be engaged in volunteering, etc etc

#

You need german at c1 level

atomic patrol
atomic patrol

or is that not gonna be a viable option?

#

oh fuck me

sand abyss
atomic patrol
#

oh that's right

#

but would you say that's a pretty good scholarship? and do you think i should look for more?
