Hi, I'm moving from Spain to Germany soon. I'm going to go to Bavaria at first, but I'm thinking if it would be a good idea to stay there for a while and then move north. I've heard that there are problems with the German government and that it is very divided into Catholics/right (South) and liberals/left (North). Is that so? What is the situation like now? I'm transgender and I'm interested in seeing where I could move more comfortably and freely.

Well, dividing into North and South like that is quite a bit of an oversimplification. At the very least you should divide into South, East and North-West. Also, you should distinguish between the urban places, especially in cities with universities, and rural places, which tend to give you a more accurate picture.
The federal situation might change a bit in the next few months - just this week, the current government coalition of the social-democrats, the greens and the (neo)liberals broke apart - come next year there will likely be reelections.

well if you are transgender and planing to live in bavaira try not to show it in public(apart from munich). Younger gen is okay with that but olders are still conservative. The best option for you would be berlin

I'm sorry I am an ignorant and don't have political knowledge but, what do you mean with "they broke apart"? what's changing over now? Will it probably be worse for people like me? better?

yeah I think socially it is kinda the same as here in Spain, old people are conservative (with their exceptions) and young people are more open minded
what about getting a job? here in Spain it is so hard for transgender people
