you just need a Wohnungsbestätigung which has a certain form which is already provided by your vermieter, you book an appointment at your local Rathaus/Stadthaus/Bürgeramt depends on city, you then need an id prrof and your confirmation and thats it :) keep in mind anmeldung-abmeldung are only done the firs and last time your are in the country otherwise its only an ummeldung

Generally, I haven't seen sublets provide a Wohnunggebersbestätigung because those can only be issued by the landlord/owner. If they are giving you this and it has the tenant's name on it, I do not think that that's legal.

And you need the Bestätigung for your Anmeldung. You can't do it with a contract anymore.

There are instances where the main tenant can ask the landlord to issue the Bestätigung for you, but that is usually only when you are both sharing the apartment and it is big enough to house two (or more) people.

The sample form of our city shows it too

The first one is the "giver of the flat" for a sublet it would be me, while the "Eigentümer" (owner) is the landlord

That said, I'll recognise that I'm wrong in saying that only the landlord can issue it.
