#Is this how you'd say "i guess"?

in the sentence "Ansichtssache schätze ich mal" i know "schätze ich mal" is supposed to mean "I guess", but what's the difference between that and "Ansichtssache nehme ich an"? is it only a formality thing or is there a nuance? or does the former mean I guess and the latter I assume? if so, is "schätze ich mal" a safe way of saying "i guess" in sentences like "i guess he just didn't want to"?

Yeah they both mean the same thing, and the comparison with guess and assume works pretty well. I wouldn't expext to find "ich schätze" in a formal text because like "I guess" it's a bit more informal, while "ich nehme an" can be used in formal and informal contexts

I have a question. It's "schätzen and annehmen" mean to respect someone? Or could be on other version of " I guess"? I thought, it's was the Meaning of to respect someone.

for respecting someone you can use "achten" or say "vor jdm. Respekt haben"

"anscheinend war der wetterbericht falsch" is definitely not a standard way of saying it across the board

like there is also a way to say it "ok dann eher nicht" idk if I can really say there's a one all fits all for this english expression unless it is just eluding me atm
