I am by all means not experienced in learning German. But if you want to learn a Language, I recommend you starting with words first and improving towards grammar as the second Step. Writing can be last. That's how I learned English. You have to invest a lot of practice and time. I recommend you to buy a German book for A1 related topics.
Everyone has their own way of learning. I recommend you to take some paper sheets and write down the word in English on one side and in the target language on the other. Put them inside some casing and repeat them daily from both sides. I also used to have a short flip book (not book but yeah idk how to call that) with words which I've been using whenever I had to wait somewhere.

i had a tutor, but all we did was speaking, she didnt really teach me grammar unless i asked, which was like 1 or 2 times

To get to b2 in 9 months you need to be studying a LOT
Perhaps 6 hours per day, plus immersion and stuff
