So I’ve been planning to attend the studienkolleg for summer semester 2025. Most application ends before november end and some extend to December.. according to norm, it is suggested that the application should be dont at least 1 month prior to the deadline in uni-assist. Now even after that.. when do i receive the invitation letter.??
Visa processing by itself takes more than a month.. and if the entrance exams to stk is on jan - feb.. how will i be able to get the visa.. I’m confused about the timeline during that stage..

Here on the bottom is an example of how this university handles it. Apply, after that you get an allowance / or not within 14 days, and THEN apply for the visa.

Studienkolleg is not something centrally organized, so different universities have different rules. If you already know where you want to go, try asking the universities individually on how they handle it.

On the other hand, you're not the first foreign student applying there. You're not the first person from your country doing studienkolleg, you're not the first person encountering this 'issue'. Universities know it'll take some time to get the visa and come up with individual agreements or make sure to set the deadlines and times accordingly.

Prospective student visas are valid for three months and can be extended by six months if you are accepted to a higher education institution or enrol in a foundation course or a preparatory German language course within this period.

keep in mind once you get in Germany you will submit your residence and you will have a residence permit that is usually valid for 2 years before you need to renew it

so you have enough time to get a residence permit for students before the 3 months run out
