Watch out for private studienkollegs, some have only internal exams that do not grant general access

You can also use it as a chance to check out your preferred university - maybe you'll enjoy it so much, you'll want to stay.
Also generally if you get accepted in the studienkolleg with the "wish" of wanting to study eg computer science afterwards, and they accept you in studienkolleg, it's MOST OF THE TIMES an instant acceptance for the study slot as well (if you do succeed of course)

Needed level strongly depends on the Studienkolleg, I've applied to some and sometimes they request Telc/DSH C1, B2 and rarely B1.
It's mostly B2 tho.

Only the studienkolleg mainz and kaiserslautern require b2-c1 from what I know.
Studienkolleg munich and karlsruhe, you have a better chance with b2
But the rest, b1 should be ok
