Hello. I was reading something and I came across this sentence:
"Der Film war in Schwarz-Weiß",
now I have two questions about it:

  1. Is it okay if we say "in Schwarzweiß" without the hyphen symbol ?

Also, there are words in the dictionary like "Der Schwarzweißfilm" and other words like "die Schwarz-Weiß-Fotografie". So should I memorize the way the word is written or there is a grammer rule or something?

  1. Shouldn't "in" be "im" or "ins" ? Why didn't we put any article before "Schwarz-weiß" !

Because schwarz-weiß is being used as an adjective?
