Planning to study college in Germany

So i just have a question guys, is it like expensive to live in Germany? Like the food, rent and etc? And is it true college is just a few thousand euros for international students? I’m not sure if that’s true but that would be very nice.

Define expensive? Depends on where you live, your standard of living etc. If you go full broke you can get by with 250 for rent, 150 for food and 50 for whatever else, 100 for insurance.

On the other hand I know people living in Munich for 700 Euro rent, paying 350 for food and having a phone contract + phone that's 100 Euro already.

Student fees in a public university are usually around 200-300 per six months. In some states (eg Bavaria and Baden württemberg I think) they introduced a special extra fee for foreign students about 1000-2000 eur per semester

Generally east Germany is cheaper for example in rent. If you want a big city like Munich you'll pay 700 eur rent for a 10sqm room and share the bathroom and kitchen with 4 other people. In the east, as I said here^ u could comfortably live alone with less than 700

As I said it's not for now. If you're doing masters for example and get a research (like lab) position for important research at ur University THEN they allow you to go higher

But only if it's reasonably important for you to do this work

its 538 euros btw and also for the my type of recidency atleast im allowed to work a max of 20 hours a week and only on holidays thats a part time job and you can expect 12,41 euro per hour thats the minimum and can reach 15 euro as a student, but thatd be taxed unlike minijob

Yes the limit is 500 in total, no matter the hourly wage. Minijob = a job under total of 500. Anything under 500 doesn't get taxed.
Part time job = about 20h/week, but has to be taxed COMPLETELY. If you worked for 20h and only got 12 eur wage, u will end up with 960 - which after tax is BARELY more than 600/700. Sometimes all the extra work ain't even worth it - I'd rather have a minijob, 100 eur less but only half the work
