I am currently living in Turkey. My father was born in Germany in 1978. My grandparents went to Germany as a guest worker in 1972 and returned to Turkey in 1984. I have all the documents, such as birth certificates, permanent residence permits, but I could not find anyone to ask if we have any rights and I need help in this regard

If it's about whether you could get the german citizensship, or generally about YOUR rights, your grandparents don't really matter. It's all just about your parents. Your father has a German citizenship?

Basically if they were married and one parent had a German citizenship, your father should automatically have gotten the german one

If not married, the citizenship of mother is transfered

If they only married afterwards, they must have had done the german citizenship for your father until 98 or something. Then there's no chance now

Any 'German' born abroad after 2000 has to be registered and apply for the german citizenship within one year

There are some rules that make it sound like there is a 10 year time frame in which your grandfather should have requested a citizenship for your father

But tbf im not a lawyer and I'd suggest talking to a lawyer specialized on this instead. The government and these embassies will not reply to you if it's not 100% clear what you want and you don't give them all the information right away

Nope there's a limit even with German rules and their exceptions. Maybe with investing thousands and fighting for years, with the chance of losing all of that. Just come here to study or something and become German one day if that's what you want

I second this. Instead of going through a whole process that's completely roundabout and may/may not work out, if you're adamant on getting citizenship/residence, the current system is being updated to be much nicer to immigrants so long as they speak the language (which is a minimum requirement in most countries).
