#Job Seeker Visa

Hello all. My Dutch girlfriend is a long time German resident. I was wondering about the job seeker visa. Seeing that I’m not even a1 level yet I wanted to focus on studying German to fluency but also work a job that could qualify for a general work visa. From what I gather you can extend the general work visa as long as you make more than $1,000 a month. I’ve seen plenty of basic no German language required jobs in the area I want to move to and I’d be staying with my girlfriend. Eventually (maybe a year or two from now) when I’m fluent I could apply for jobs that align more with my career (manufacturing, supply chain, project management.)

Am I looking at this correctly? Would this plan be feasible? Could I apply for the job seeker visa if I travelled to Germany on a passport or should I do that at a German embassy in the US first? The closest one is pretty far away.

generally speaking, these "basic jobs" cannot extend a work visa to you as a third country national because of protectionism that requires them to hire a german or other EU national over you

though i'm not 100% what theee jobs are based on this description

From what I gather "The requirement is that 1) a German employer wants to hire you and 2) nobody else is available to fill the job. Your application for a work visa will be checked by the German Federal Employment Agency where all unemployed people have to register to get unemployment benefits. They will look in their database if they can find a German or EU citizen who will fill the position instead."

and any "basic" job is basically automatically removed under this provision

a cashier job can be filled by any german or EU candidate, they don't and can't import from a 3rd nation for it

if you have skills you think you could find a skilled job with, you could try the job seeker visa

I guess I could go the german language visa but I doubt one year would be enough to be fluent. And Id prefer to be working if I could

i've seen more than a few ausländer get booted from my places of work because they can't hack it in a german speaking environment
