Computer Science Universities

Hello everyone. I am looking for universities in Germany which specialize in computer science and similar degrees. Could you please help me with suggestions about the best universities in Germany based on English? I don't prefer doing the mandatory year for German language, but if you have suggestions based on it, I wouldn't mind. Last thing, it has to be somewhat affordable. Thanks for your help 🫡

Regarding affordability: The universities themselves all are more or less the same in terms of costs (the public ones, that is) - it's the rents that'll get to you. And those scale not only with the city, but also with the convenience of getting from your apartment or room to the university. If you're willing to accept a 4-hour train commute per one-way trip not counting delays, I'd think you might even find something affordable studying in Munich (I'm not from there, but the general trend should still hold). But you probably wouldn't want that.

ok so even if you do course in english youll later realise you really need german to live comfortably, also the german public unis are cheaper almost free and you will learn the language sooner or later anyways

There are also English-speaking public unis.

yes my point was eventually ull need to learn german for all legal stuff yk, and to live comfortably and maybe later if you want citizenship yk

i mean thats from my experience after i learned the language

it unlocked a whole new experience

adding to that the better reputaion of public unis most of the time the carry out national researches yk, better ranking, better facilities, as well as being almost free

I spoke with an ex-professor of one of the public universities that mainly offer English courses a few months ago. He was really disappointed that most students didn't learn German and therefore he couldn't employ them at his company.

As he had to deal with local businesses, where not everyone was fluent enough in English.

u see thats my point, not only that but outside unis at government offices, most shops where i live have turkish/arabic/old german ppl so they arent good in english

later when you want to pay taxes, get an apartemnt esp they can scam you when they know you dont know german

anything legal rlly needs german english is not always there that u can depend on it like for example netherlands yk

I wanted to mention it since the original poster explicitly stated their unwillingness to wait for the language requirements, or at least that's how I understood it.

yeah I can learn it. I am actually trying to get to A2 level, it's just that I don't want to be behind a year while catching up with the terminology. I can def learn it the way you are saying

1 year gone to me isnt a big deal if its gonna help me in the long run atleast thats how i see it

idk why ppl rlly be making 1 year a big deal its gonna end in a blink of an eye

I think it has to do more with the pressure. You have 1 year to learn the language and if you don't, you'll fall apart. University is already hard in my native language and English, can't imagine the struggle to adapt.
