#DSH

DSH is an entry exam which differs from every university to the next. Sometimes youre lucky and it's easy, sometimes it's harder, there's no universal yes / no on whether you should try doing it or not. I could send you some sample exams, but the exam youll take might be structured very different.
Probably the biggest difference to other language exams are the 'wissenschaftliche Strukturen', where you have to rephrase scientific papers / sentences / quotes into aktiv, direkte Rede etc. Generally all texts will be rather scientific too, youll interpret graphs and need the suitable vocab.
Thanks a lot for the insight. The non-standardisation of the test worries me a little. I have taken the TestDaF previously (missed a 4x4 by a point in reading and writing ) and i believe the structures would be similar in the DSH as well?
The rephrasing part will be quite new which I need to look into while preparing. Perhaps could you share the some sample exams if you have them? That'll help me understand what to expect in the test although it may vary depending on the Univ. And thanks a lot for replying.
But yeah it's classic reading writing listening speaking
The exam is still sending sorry bad net lol
yeah true. Need to still get used to the format tho. haha
No worries. Thanks a lot
If you Google "dsh prüfungen mit Lösung" you'll find a lot too
My partner scored DSH 3 in a lot of sample exams, but then in the actual exam he barely got to DSH2 😦 usually universities will offer you an intensive language course for one semester if you didn't score as high as you wanted. They'll cost somewhat between 500-2000 for one semester
Yeah I'll do that as well.
Ohh that hurts. I can relate that with TestDaF.
But yeah unfortunately the University I got admitted to only offers a 4 day training course and that is probably to get used to the structure of the test just before the exam
And in case I fail they said I won't be able to continue with my master study nor would I be able to join a Language course to retake the exam. I simply would have to go back and try again next semester. And thats what scares me a bit
I probably have to ask them again about the possibility of joining a language course for DSH in case I fail. So that I can be very sure of what im getting myself into
You could also take the DSH test at another university, it's not bound to the university
Ahh I've heard that but I'm not very sure if would be able to retake the exam at another university. I think the results should be ready by the 10th of october.
But anyway I should consider this and look into to as well. Some other University closeby. The Uni I've been admitted to is in Erlangen so something near the city would be reasonable, maybe in Ingolstadt or Munich if thats possible.
The exams at my university took place on Monday, results are out today, they all have different timings. Usually results are out fast so you know whether to prepare for the speaking part or not, and the grade for the speaking part is giving right after it
Oh okay. Ill check the exam dates in nearby Universities. And thanks a lot for letting me know.
