#How do you call a female friend in German?

Well either a friend or one of your 5 lovers

Saying meine Freundin does not necessarily imply a romantic relationship. The words Freund and Freundin are ambiguous in German and can mean both things. It really just depends on the context
Based on my experience, it's better to go for "eine" version to lose the ambiguity, whenever I say "mein Freund" people always assume I mean a boyfriend 🤡
there are several ways to make it clear, one way is to use adjectives:
meine feste Freundin> romantic
meine gute/enge/beste Freundin > friendship
then there is the word: Bekannte, which u use for people who you know but aren't your friend (yet), and for natives that will include people you might know for years and even spent time with, but they still might be just a Bekannter
there's no set timeframe or whatever after which someone moves from being a Bekannter to being a Freund, that differs from person to person.
my point is that you can use this word to differentiate between romantic and friendship
