The people's stares in Germany

is it possible that you feel like you had a big change in appearance, which maybe affects your perception of yourself, and are to some extent imagining this or 'only just now' noticing when people look at you or (over)analysing supermarket interactions?

Basically, I can't tell if it's good or bad

maybe someone else knows something I don't. All I can say is that it's an extremely nondescript haircut. So I cannot imagine it has anything to do with that.

I gotta do a bit more test to find out what's wrong

If you look the way I imagine - no, those are most definitely not friendly stares.

Well it depends on the culture. It's not uncommon for people to stare Ionger at people they find attractive in most cultures. But I don't know if that's the case here.

I think I have the same association as Susana had. Hallö_hierchen is correct that the photography is fine and would not subject you to stares. But with the described differences, it sounds like a mimic of a certain style that went out of fashion decades ago for a very specific reason, which would have to be discussed in #1025098221653073940 . So if my suspicion is correct, you and/or your hairdresser would have made a major faux-pax, which would definitely warrant stares from most people.

Also I've generally heard that Germans have a tendency to stare longer and more intensely. So it's really likely that you are just noticing it now since you got a haircut that you feel suits you. You may believe that you've always been observant but you can't truly be aware of your level of awareness.

I gotta do more testing, I guess

If they were smiles then yeah it could have been admiration

But they could have also been laughing/trying to stifle laughter

It's not important how you think about it, if its culturally problematic. I mean - I could be wrong with my assumption.

How about this picture:

(That's a former French head of state by the way and unrelated to the possible reason of staring.) Ignore the moustache for a moment. Would the hairdo look somewhat similar to yours?
