I am learning the (time) section in German. But I am facing difficulties in what are terms like past, half, etc.
English is not my first language so I just go for numbers when speaking of time like 6:09 am/pm, etc . so what's the thing to understanding these terms? Also, is speaking time like this common in Germany? Are there any differences between English (British) and German-speaking time?

It's similarish to time in english language, but with a lot more 24h time
the biggest thing to note is halb [x] means half an hour before [x]
so halb acht = 7:30

and in general you can always say sieben Uhr dreißig etc etc
