Deutsche Deutsch vs Österreichische Deutsch

I just set my phone to German and when i did it, it asked me which German would i prefer.
Is there a significant difference between the two of them?
(I picked Austrian German because i love the country so much XD)

generally no. a few words have a different noun gender or plural form, and some different vocabulary.

der Keks vs das keks and die Kekse vs die Keks is the one that immediately comes to mind for gender and plurals.
i don't know any austrian vocab off the top of my head tho. i do however know there are small differences

a asterix however that this all is in regards to standard austrian german vs standard german, not dialects

If I'm taking an exam and it asks me "determine gender of Keks", which one should i pick? The German one or the Austrian one? (considering I'm in none of these countries)

mostlikely german one (aka Hochdeutsch) but I doubt such direct question would occur on an exam

just here to tell you it's "Standard-Deutsch" not "Hochdeutsch"

January is called Januar in German German and Jänner in Austrian German. That's the only one that comes to mind. The differences between German German and Swiss German however are greater. Most notably, there is no ß in Swiss German. In Switzerland you would e.g. write "Strasse" instead of "Straße"
