The problem some people have is simply that it looks wrong from an English perspective.
So you just have to learn to let go of that idea and read it as it is.

@spiral stratus Well, the guttural R is also found in Switzerland, especially in Thurgau, St. Gallen and Basel. In Zurich, it's almost random whether people use a guttural R or an alveolar R, but the alveolar R is far more common.

I think the rolled R is very common.
It's the guttural R that is actually extremely rare.
It's mostly restricted to a few countries in Europe.
And the English R may be even rarer.
