My parents have just voiced their personal preference that I stay in Ireland for undergraduate at least. I didn't understand the point they were trying to make though. They said: "What if you got sick? We'd be on the other side of Europe and what would you do then?" To which I said that I'd be an adult either way and would have to pay health insurance regardless of whether I was in Germany/Austria or Ireland. Then they said that I would be way too young, to which I said that I would almost be 19 in all likelihood. Another issue that my father brought to attention was that he was afraid I would go away and be easily led to do things I wouldn't like, but in my view I wouldn't anyway and even if I somehow did it would be no different here after all.
They did however just say it was their view, which is probably pretty normal. I don't know.
