probably the gnarliest dirty room mate experience I've had: eggs left in the fridge until they exploded. they were in the egg tray, which is a maybe 3 cm deep tray. somehow, there was about 2 cm of water pooled in it, in which many dead fruit flies were floating

but I didn't realize that the water was there when I first took the tray out because the egg holders were hiding it, and so I tipped a bunch of rotten egg/dead insect water on myself

I spent about an hour cleaning that damn fridge with bleach after throwing away all the food

seems like common sense to not leave a bunch of food behind when you know you're leaving on vacation for a month
