Just by using Anki your vocabulary will grow but if you don't know how those words are used in conversation it won't be of much help

This has been exactly my experience. I used to use a combination of Anki and media, now I only use media. Not saying it's good or better for everyone, but I'm picking up vocabulary quite quickly and it sticks. The repetition that happens naturally through interacting with the language vs. a couple reviews during the week through Anki may be a big reason for that.

Idk where you got that statistic from but I'm inclined to agree. I've been studying German on and off for about 3+ years now and I'm only A2, not even a solid A2, but that's because I was learning on my own and I wasn't even remotely consistent with my studying. With the help of a language course and putting in a decent amount of hours everyday I'd say it's definitely possible to reach such a level.

You are a real B2 if you can listen to most youtube videos without too much struggle, read and chat here with not much struggle, listen to music and understand 90-99% (depends on song), can read a book and you can read 80-85% of it without looking up words, you think in the language a lot and do so when you speak it, you dont translate things unless its something you are learning or at least not all the time (its okay to sometimes in fact you will need to still, it just doesnt hinder you too much), you can understand a lot of slang, if you took a college course in the language you would understand 90-99% (depending on the subject matter), you would "feel" the language (a bit of Sprachgefühl and also the language would seem a lot less foreign, sometimes you could read/listen in German and later not remember if what you read was English or German because you just soaked it in
