project 1 got released today and it has exercises for polynomial regression and lasso and ridge but we are not allowed to use additional libraries (apart from maybe np and pandas)

I took analysis I/II/III stochastics and data science and linear algebra I/II in the first two years but it clearly was not enough lol

Yeah. To give a real world example, in one of the predictive models we're working on, we did a logistic regression and random forest and compared them. They had pretty similar results. The implication of that is that the linearity assumption is pretty good for this problem, so we looked into linearity testing, specifically we plotted quantile residuals, and it seems like the linearity is pretty good based on those. So hopefully that explains why the random forest didn't add much extra for us.

It's something basic but if you just learn to blindly use packages to solve problems, you might not know that.

ich selbst hatte nie einen, aber ich kenne es so: die meisten minijobs/generell minijobs sind bei einer 450€ basis. das sollte im besten fall im monat nicht überschritten werden. das coole an einem minijob ist es, dass du flexibel einsetzbar bist bzw. mit den arbeitsstunden etwas "spielen" kannst. zum beispiel wenn du studierst und du hast jeden tag unterschiedlich feierabend an der uni. du musst keinen geregelten 8.5h arbeitstag haben, sondern kannst auch mal nur für 3-4h da sein. dafür arbeitest du dann öfters. bei 8.5h machst du wenns hoch kommt 2 (max. 3) tage pro woche, nur wäre dein ganzer tag dann vorbei, besonders, wenn du nebenbei noch studierst. aber sowas musst du individuell mit deinem arbeitgeber ausmachen. manche wollen dich fest an bestimmten tagen oder zu bestimmten uhrzeiten, manche werden dich noch anrufen und fragen, ob du einspringen kannst.

und naja, um eine work permit von der ausländerbehörde zu bekommen, brauchst du in erster linie eh eine aufenthaltsgestattung. das "typische" halt.
