You need an extremely sophisticated knowledge of idioms, phrasal verbs, any type of slang and informality you could think of. Paraphrasing is a must, it's honestly impossible imo. At least for people like me that pursue fluency in several other languages

Heh, I came to the server because I was basically complaining elsewhere about being B1 in German for ages (a low B1 at that, if that, I never took a test, and I haven’t worked in it for quite a while) so I am enjoying this discussion. Just watched the beginning of that C2 in Seven Months video and she says that back in Russia she had a good academic background in German which she minored in, her major was English, she just needed practice speaking. Still impressive but puts some perspective on the seven months.

I just find it helpful to be realistic about what can be achieved rather than pretend if we all worked harder or whistled while we worked then we would reach that magical goal of fluency in no time flat.
