I’ve beat up some castles pretty good but the quest won’t update and there’s no marker of particular castles so I’m really confused

which quest are you talking about specifically?
I'm guessing the half-weekly quest that gives you points for the projects, where you have to clear out 3 corrupted castles?

ok so firstly, you gotta be level 30 for corrupted castles to appear. Then, you need to have cleared out at LEAST 3 castles on the map, normal castles. Aka, kill all the Samurai Daisho, and grab the legendary chest
IF you already have corrupted castles on your map, then just go to them, and then you gotta take out the CORRUPTED Samurai Daisho, and lastly grab the Corrupted Castle's chest
when you go on the map, and hover over a corrupted castle, you'll see how many of them you have to defeat for the chest to unlock
