also you can just shoot the core directly

the opposite actually. triforced bots will lose all blocks facing away from the core depending on where the hit was received.
but normal bots would still have those blocks attached, also depends on how aggressive the triforcing is

to punish triforcing specifically you need a weapon that make all parts in n connection distance share the damage, though i don't think that triforcing need to be targeted specifically.
